Pax Hill is care home set in nine acres of gardens in the picturesque village of Bentley on the border between Surrey and Hampshire. Every room in this unusual circular building has views of the surrounding countryside or central courtyard through low level picture windows.

Each bedroom has large en-suite shower rooms with wheelchair access, electric profiling beds, flat screen television, telephone and access to a broadband internet connection.

Nursing and care staff are on duty 24 hours a day to provide help whatever your care requirements.

Separate, self-contained care areas enable them to provide different types of care and to enable residents to feel comfortable with their surroundings.

Professionals provide general nursing care, palliative care, nursing care for dementia and residential care.

Activity therapists provide a social calendar of events and support to encourage communication and maintenance of an active lifestyle. Alternatively, the gardens provide the perfect place for tranquillity and a spot of gardening.

They are happy to offer respite and short-term care for a few days to a few weeks to cover post-operative recuperation, carers holidays and breaks, or trial visits to see if care home life is suitable for you.

My mother who has advanced dementia has been in Pax Hill for 4 1/2 years. She is treated with kindness and respect. She is very happy in Pax Hill. The staff are excellent. My sister and I are confident that mum is safe and happy.

This home is spotlessly clean and all staff seem to provide a sympathetic and caring support to the residents. Activities are available for those residents who want it. Food looks appetising and well presented.

My 90-year-old mother first came to Pax Hill in September 2017 for respite care having been hospitalised after a fall at home. Initially, she was confused and unhappy being away from her home. After assessments, it was realised she needed to be in full-time care. With the help of the caring staff, my
mother has now settled in well and is very happy. She is fulsome in her praise of everyone. The nurses and carers are aware of her specific needs, likes and dislikes and are always respectful and helpful. She has mobility difficulties and vascular dementia and has always been demanding, very independent of mind and spirit and it takes special skills to care well for such people. This is carried out in an exemplary way by everyone involved at Pax Hill. The staff, from the receptionists to the carers, nurses, activity staff, maintenance, management and admin - have all been helpful and very caring to me as well throughout a very stressful period. My mother and I now have peace of mind.

I have lived in Pax Hill Care Home for over ten years, firstly in the old home that was originally owned by Lord Baden Powell.
We came to the new building several years ago and except for a blip or two, it has been a happy time.

Very welcoming girls (care staff) efficient, kind and charming. Well-run, nice people and accommodation. Food is boring - would like stewed fruit (essential) - would like more variety, quality was good but would like a wider range. Enjoyed residents company - lovely location, relatives made welcome.
Availability to Doctor good. Beds comfortable and slept well though used to a wider bed at home. Pleased to be allowed my mobility scooter in the building. Appreciate ground floor location and easy access to fresh air.

My mother has been at this care home for five years after a serious fall which caused her to need two people to care for her. I have always felt safe leaving her in the care of this home. On all shifts, there has been no staff who have not been very patient and respectful of her. The staff are mostly
foreign with spoken English that is very good. Food fresh, modern facilities, a larger communal lounge might encourage more to leave their rooms. Varied activity programme though not many go outside or physically get exercise a little expensive.

I have been a resident here since June 2016. I was made very welcome, I am very comfortable, I have all the assistance I need. Pax Hill is set in beautiful surroundings in the Hampshire countryside. The grounds are well maintained and enjoyable.

The general ambience at Pax Hill is one of comfortable efficiency. The buildings are warm, the public rooms well-furnished and the private rooms are of reasonable size, furnished to the standard a good hotel.
Food is generally good and is served in a dining room or in residents’ rooms.There are four
levels of staff, housekeeping, carers, nurses and management. The housekeeping teams keep the place very clean and tidy; the carers, who provide personal care and generally look after residents, are all courteous and competent, some more than others. The nurses supervise the carers and provide medical care at district nurse level if required. The local doctor visits once per week, with the surgery on call in an emergency.
I have been at Pax Hill for two and a half years and have been quite happy with the conditions and service rendered.

The staff are always very friendly and helpful. They have to my knowledge always treated my mother with dignity and courtesy. The plan form of the building is interesting and disguises the size and institutional nature of the building to good effect.

As a visitor I am always made to feel welcome, given tea and comfort/reassurance. As the daughter of a resident I am kept informed of changes and small celebrations. There are lots of opportunities for me to involve myself in the life of the home, summer fete, coffee mornings, bingo! I receive newsletters
and photos. My mother receives great care. The staff know her and her needs very well. She is treated with respect and kindness. She loves her carers and they return feelings of warmth and fondness.

In general communication OK but could be a little more forth coming with information about resident and health/medication being administered. Staff all very friendly and pleasant to talk to. Always get tray of tea and biscuits on our visits. They keep the place very clean and fresh, would recommend
others to visit and look around.
