We are sorry you had a poor experience during this sad time, particularly as your mother had a very happy 13 months in our care. So understandably it is disappointing now to find your mother was left unattended. We accepted our duty of candour, expressed verbally and in several letters to you. Once again on behalf of Solent Cliffs we apologise. As you know it was the weekend and the OOH GP was contacted more than once to certify your mother's passing, which did not occur until 14.40 the following day. This was some 14 hours later following which the care team immediately attended to your mother and made every effort to preserve her dignity. The records state the team communicated with you throughout and kept you informed of reasons for the delay. The room was made presentable, window open and fan on to keep the room cool.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback.
On behalf of Solent Cliffs, I am sorry to hear that the standards of care did not meet your expectations. I understand that your father has significantly improved in the 2 years and 7 months of being cared for at Solent Cliffs considering that he was given a few months' prognosis.
Having joined the company in May 2020 and been informed of your concerns which were being dealt with promptly by one of the senior management team, I can understand your frustration based on the rating described in carehome.co.uk. If given enough opportunity to know more about your father and your active involvement, we could have moved forward in a positive direction.
I am sorry that your father’s move to another nursing home, occurred too soon. We take every comment to the utmost seriousness and have logged your feedback as part of our Customer Satisfaction survey to be able to address any aspect of the Home’s services that needs to improve.
We always strive to get customer service right and ensure that all the people under our care are safe, well cared for, and satisfied with the service they receive. To this end, we are deeply sorry.

Despite this slight shortcoming,
As a retired Business Analyst, I am acknowledged as a person who is difficult to please, because I expect the highest professional standards, but Solent Cliffs managed to easily exceed my expectations.
Despite the guidance comment above, I would like to particularly highlight the contributions made by some of the staff for their contributions towards making my father's last days as comfortable and as pleasant as they could be. Although I knew that my father was dying they made it as painless for me as they did for him. Well done and thank you.

All the staff including the care staff, nurses, cleaners, laundry staff and the ladies bringing round the drinks were very kind and caring. They kept us fully aware and up to date of Mums condition at all times and always made time to speak to us however busy they were. As well as this, they fully recognised the stress and upset we were under due to Mums decline and were always very kind to us making sure we were ok too. A member of their team attended Mums funeral which was very kind too.

Hayley started her vocation in care within Solent Cliffs at the age of 18. Deciding that Nursing was her passion she went on to train at London Southbank University. Once qualified, Hayley worked at Kings College Hospital as a Stroke nurse. After 2 years in a busy London hospital, Hayley moved back down south and joined Southampton University Hospital as a Cardiac Intensive Care nurse. After leaving intensive care, Hayley returned to Solent Cliffs as an RGN. 2 years later, Hayley took on a role as a manager within a nursing home in Alverstoke. It was here that she gained her NVQ 5 in Leadership and Management. Hayley decided to take a step down after 3 years as a manager and work as an RGN within another Beneva Home named Beechwood. During Hayley’s 4 year stay at Beechwood, she worked her way up the management ladder becoming the home's Clinical Lead and then to Deputy. When the position of Manager became available within Solent Cliffs, Hayley felt a very strong urge to return to the home where it all began for her. Hayley has a passion for providing residents with person-centred care and treating all as individuals. Hayley enjoys teaching staff and promoting a positive work culture.
