Sutton Manor offers independent living with additional support available and a care home providing nursing care beds all set within 60 acres of beautiful parkland estate, the former home of film magnate Lord Rank; the ideal blend of high-quality care within a comfortable and beautiful setting.

The 38 independent living properties are located throughout the grounds and include a converted stable block, thatched cottages, newly built residences and a historic water tower.

These are available through a lifetime residency agreement, with nursing home beds available on a weekly fee.

Respite and convalescent care is catered for within the nursing home, which offers 38 individual apartments spanning spacious, private suites through to cosy bed sitting rooms, all with a host of period features.

Single rooms enjoy en-suite bathrooms, while suites also include a separate drawing room and one or more bedrooms, suitable for couples.

On-site facilities include an elegant drawing room, hairdressing salon, reading room, garden room and extensive landscaped grounds and is just a short stroll from the village of Sutton Scotney’s amenities or a short drive from both Winchester and the bustling town of Stockbridge.

A qualified nursing team is on duty 24-hours a day in the nursing home, which prides itself on the exceptionally caring nature of its staff. Food is freshly prepared by dedicated chefs and served in the beautiful dining room or conservatory. Domestic support ensures that all household chores are taken care of, allowing residents to fully enjoy their surroundings and busy events programme.

The independent living properties are supported by a team of friendly wardens, maintenance and gardening teams with regular outings ensuring there is plenty to entertain. Additional support, if required, can be arranged through the company’s own registered domiciliary care agency, HomeCare Finder Ltd.

My father has been at Sutton Manor for six months. During that time, our family have been very impressed with the respectful, polite, kind and attentive staff - they really do care! Dad said the home is "like a hotel" when he moved in - it feels like a home from home - which has made a huge difference
to my dad as he has settled in.

My mother has been a resident at the fabulous Sutton Manor for a few years now with her beloved cat, Topsy. She has a beautiful room looking out over the glorious park views. The staff and management welcomed them both and have always been so supportive, looking after Topsy as well as Mum, both are
much loved. Recently, when my mother was rushed to hospital, the staff stepped up, even more, opting to spend their hard-earned breaks in my mum’s room to keep Topsy company, plus ringing the family for updates and sending their love for us to pass on. Thankfully, Mum is now safely back at Sutton Manor. We, as a family, cannot express our gratitude for everything all the staff and management do to make Mum’s (and Topsy’s) life so comfortable and safe; the consistent compassion and professionalism they show daily goes above and beyond.

The staff and management of Sutton Manor have always provided extremely good care for my very disabled mother (and also for my father, who lives independently in one of the apartments).
During the last very difficult year, it has been an enormous comfort to me to know that my mother is in caring hands
and that her needs will be conscientiously attended to.

A beautiful home for the last few months of my Mother's life, we could not have chosen a better place for her. Though she enjoyed her light-filled, airy room and appreciated the views over the pretty grounds, it was the staff that she always spoke most fondly of. From the housekeeping and cleaning staff
through to the nurses and healthcare assistants - their kindness, thoughtfulness and compassion shone daily. Small gestures such as roses from the garden placed on her table and changing the colour of her blanket (blue - more restful) are small examples of outstanding care and attention.
Thank you for providing the best possible care for my Mother - you made her feel loved.

Our father has been a resident at Sutton Manor for over 4 years, and we have never been anything but delighted with the care he receives.
While the venue and grounds are glorious, it is the exemplary attitude of the staff which makes Sutton Manor so special. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the
staff and they have gone out of their way during the pandemic to ensure residents are kept safe while minimising disruption to them.
A good example is the renovation of the Pavillion in the grounds. Since residents in the properties in the grounds can no longer access the drawing-room of the care home, for very good safety reasons, the management has completely renovated a large Pavillion in the grounds to provide a comfortable setting for social interaction. It has been very thoughtfully equipped with a wide range of books and games, coffee/tea-making facilities, TV etc. When the staff was informed that my father was keen to restart his bridge sessions, they immediately ordered a table.

My mother lived at Sutton Manor for almost six years, during which time she became increasingly frail, both mentally and physically. The staff was unfailingly kind and conscientious in their care of her and our family will always be grateful to them. Her wishes for her end of life care were fully complied
with and the whole family was supported through a difficult time. Furthermore, the care was extended to her much-loved cat who lived with her to the end in great comfort. My only quibble would be with the top management, who remain somewhat distant. Those on-site are excellent and always available.

The care given to my mother over the 4 and half years she lived at Sutton Manor was exemplary. She was always treated with the utmost kindness and respect by all staff. The premises are spotless, the furniture attractive and the food delicious and varied. Activities are arranged every day for all to
take part in, in both groups and individually. In her final days the support given to us her family, and to her was outstanding and for which we could not be more grateful.

My sister was a patient at Sutton Manor for 16 months following a severe stroke which left her confined to a wheelchair paralysed down one side, reduced eyesight and speech. The nursing care she received was absolutely wonderful, nothing was too much trouble, the staff were all kindness itself. Their
loving care made life so much easier for her son and myself during a very stressful and sad time.

I want to praise the kindness, warmth, competence, empathy, thoughtfulness of all the staff and management at Sutton Manor. In fact, I cannot praise the kindness and efficiency and patience of the staff highly enough from the top management of to the bottom. All were brilliant. Both my parents were
cared for there, first in a flat and then the main nursing home. Both declined and died there. My mother, most recently, spent six months in the nursing home and has just died, but her whole experience at Sutton was a happy one. In fact, she frequently said she was very happy there, she made many new friends and loved the gardens, but she also praised the staff who were always immensely sensitive and affectionate with her. Her final decline and death were managed with loving care and competent calmness that she clearly appreciated. Altogether, having just lived through this very difficult time, I recommend Sutton Manor very highly.

My wife with a moderate degree of dementia is in this nursing home. She needs a receives frequent care and attention as she is unable to walk or stand unaided. The care provided is excellent it is significant that many of the staff English and from overseas have been here for a long time. There is a
tradition of staff helping one another and the management is in close contact with staff and patients.

Sutton Manor is set in beautiful grounds, the rooms are spacious and you are able to furnish them to your own taste, making it more like your own home. The nursing staff and carers are all extremely attentive and treat the residents with great respect and dignity. Their patience, understanding and care
is of the highest level. The food is of a very high standard and nothing is too much trouble for the chefs and kitchen staff.


I would have no hesitation in recommending this Nursing Home.

Kamala has been part of the Amesbury Abbey Group for 23 years, including 20 as a Registered General Nurse. She gained considerable experience at both Winchester and Salisbury Hospitals, in conjunction with her initial duties within the Group, before moving to a full-time role for 2 years as Deputy Manager at Winton House, followed by 3 further years as Registered Manager. Kamala took up her role as Manager at Sutton Manor in the Summer of 2012 and was a finalist for Care Home Manager of The Year in 2018, winning the award in 2021.
