My dad came here for 10 days respite to give my mum a break. He was so happy and kept saying "It's a nice place" again and again. He has dementia and was looked after beautifully by the staff. Thank you so much.

Westacre took my mother in at a point when the home she had been in was unable to manage her. Westacre has fought her corner, got to know her and helped her immensely. Thanks to their attention to detail and care, she has become settled and content. They have sorted out her medication in partnership
with the doctor and she is now happier than she has been in ages. It is a kind and caring place, well managed and very well staffed. We are delighted with all they have achieved.

All members of staff are very kind and helpful to residents and their families. Having had a preconception of care homes in general, I felt some trepidation but my fears have been put to rest and I am happy to leave my husband in their care. I don't think he could be better looked after anywhere else.

We were first shown around the home prior to deciding by a warm, welcoming and knowledgeable staff nurse.
The atmosphere was friendly.
Very pleasant rooms, gardens and staff.
We decided this place would be very suitable.
He settled very well after the first evening.
I know he enjoyed the food and
kindness.
Relatives were welcome to call in.
Nothing to complain about.
Always able to talk to management and staff if necessary.

My mother has been cared for at Westacre for seven years. The home is attractive and provides space for residents to move around indoors and enjoy different areas (eg with television, with company, or in quieter spaces). The food is delicious and most importantly the care is excellent. The staff have
good relations with residents' families and keep us informed. They treat the residents with care, consideration and sensitivity. I have had experience of two other nursing homes for my parents and Westacre stands out as the best by far. At this difficult time in my mother's life, we feel relaxed and confident that she is very well cared for.

Westacre is a very friendly home. The staff are friendly and competent. My husband stayed one week for respite. I would have liked him to stay longer but he was pining to be at home. Lovely atmosphere. Altogether a good place to be if you are unable to live at home.

Westacre cared for my father for a month between leaving hospital and coming home.
They were helpful, flexible and very organised around the admission and discharge.
The place is immaculate, sparkling clean, very well maintained and well equipped.
The staff were endlessly cheerful, very skilled and
extremely kind.

I was in Westacre for respite care following a long spell in hospital. I was in need of peace and a good rest, especially to be quiet at night and uninterrupted sleep. The care from all the staff was kind and friendly and I was made to feel relaxed and comfortable.

I moved my relative to Westacre 1/3/17 after concerns about the care she was receiving in another care home. I am so pleased we chose Westacre, the improvement in both my relative's health and the care is most marked. Both friends and family have commented on the improvement. I am completely satisfied
with the care my relative is receiving - I just can't fault it. All the staff are so friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Westacre.

Our mother entered Westacare, Winchester in 2017 and has received excellent care, love and kindness in a professional way.
Her needs are complex but this has not phased the professional staff. We would like to thank the clinical manager, the manager and their staff (too many to mention personally)
for their dedicated daily of our mother.

An excellent community care home, with lots to offer for fund raising ideas, such as fun days and bingo. I noticed that the care was fantastic and it was a well kept/clean care home and I would recommend this to anyone.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.167)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.167) out of 10 for Westacre Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.831 for Westacre Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (71 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 83 Ratings = 4.831

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.336 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Westacre Nursing Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 55 registered maximum number of service users is 11. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 11 = 0.636

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Manager

I became the manager of Westacre in July 2020. I entered this position after working as a matron for Peartree Neuro Rehab, another home under the same ownership. I began my career in healthcare in 1997 as a carer for the NHS until working my way up to ward manager. I worked in the NHS for 34 years before joining Peartree. Most of my nursing career has been working in older person mental health with complex dementia, with a brief episode with Adolescence. In 2001 I was seconded to complete my mental health nurse training. I love my summer holidays and spending time with my dog, Sky.
