Where do I start? My mum was staying here for respite whilst being assessed. After a weeks stay she fell poorly and was admitted to hospital. 44 hours after her admission the care home called me to say they were packing my mums things because the rules were if your away from the home for 48 hours or
more then your bed will be closed. They called me after 44 hours to say she was not welcome back. I later find out that actually my mums bed was given to someone else shortly after her hospital admission! My mum was left homeless! She had COPD and was very poorly, she made it quite clear she did not want to spend what time she had left in hospital but Forest Court refused to take her back. They caused a lot of distress on me, my mum and my family and we are absolutely disgusted. They lady that called was rude, they tried to claim mums wheelchair too, we still had time to get mum back to Forest Court for her wishes but they said no, my mum died in hospital 3 weeks later!

Reply from Katie Sutton, Reablement Lead at Forest Court Nursing Home

I am sorry to hear you were distressed by your experience at Forest Court. Your Mum was admitted to one of our Short-Term Service assessment bed but as you said, became medically unwell and had to return to hospital. The beds are funded by the NHS and the policy is in the event of readmission to the hospital, the short-term service bed is closed within 48 hours. We followed this procedure and after 48 hours her room was allocated to another patient from the hospital.

Support and help given to my mum are great; she is enjoying the food, her room is clean, the staff are in attendance all the time, the common areas are clean and tidy, and the staff are so friendly, not only nursing and cleaning, but also the chef's (met in the lift) reception staff, and the manager,
this place is a credit to the local authority. The staff also remember little things, for instance, my mum is blind, and her food is always served cut up to make it easier to eat, might not sound like much, but so important to my mum.

My mum is currently at Forest Court but is moving this week as the stay was only for her assessment.
The standards in the home are very high, the staff that I have come into contact with have been excellent, caring and friendly.
I don't see how any care home (NHS or private) could be bettered!

Great care. Sorry had to leave due to short-term care restrictions. Really helpful and nice. Wish it could be longer.

My mother is currently residing at Forest Court but is moving this week as this is only short stay. The staff have been absolutely amazing, caring and friendly. The food is amazing, all I can say is congratulations to the chef and kitchen staff. All areas very clean and tidy. The reception staff always
helpful and friendly. Everyone seems to go out of their way to make sure you feel comfortable and safe. Such a shame only short term as Mum loves her stay there.

Avoid at all cost. Communication is zero. The experience for the family will be frustrating and traumatic. No one will answer the phone after 5pm or at weekends. Nursing staff can be hard to understand. But they are the only ones who do an amazing job. Total respect for the nursing staff. I no longer
trust anyone else. My experience has been one long nightmare. It's broken me and traumatised me.

My mum has received excellent care from Forest Court. The staff are warm welcoming and caring and provide all-round high-quality care and treatment. They communicate regularly and refer her to other professionals such as dentists, podiatrists, opticians, speech and language team and advocates. It is
a well-led team of staff who go that extra mile! Thank you for your care and compassion

Forest Court Nursing Home cared for my father when he was discharged from hospital and whilst he was being assessed. It is a very nice building in a semi-woodland setting, quiet and peaceful. The rooms are bright, modern, clean and sanitized. The staff were outstanding - I honestly could not have wished
for him to be in a better place. The standard of care he received, both from carers and nurses, was truly exceptional. No matter how busy they were the staff always went out of their way to look after him and make sure he was well tended to and comfortable, they are a credit to their profession. They also took time to involve my mother in his care - giving her help, advice and support so she still felt she was actively involved in his care as well as emotional support on difficult days which was so kind. I can not recommend them highly enough. An outstanding nursing home/assessment centre.

In my view this nursing home is excellent. I have nothing but praise for it, they keep in contact with you every step of the way. Lovely and competent staff, a spotlessly clean reception, the staff are very welcoming on your arrival, although unfortunately this was on very bad times with Covid-19 but
they did everything they could to make him comfortable and try to accommodate the family. I can thoroughly recommend this nursing home and would like to thank them for all their help.

We have not been able to visit our mother at all and don’t really know how she is as we have been given totally minimal information when we have been able to get through to the staff on the phone. We have been given four different phone numbers all of which continually have an automated message stating
that the line is busy. We have not been able to speak to our mother which is upsetting for us and must be devastating for her to be in a care home on her own possibly thinking that we are not bothering or don’t care about her. I hope the care staff is not as dismissive with her as they are with us on the odd occasion that we have managed to speak to someone.

We had no contact from mum’s Social Worker until my brother chased this up. We were promised that after the review meeting for our mother we would be informed of what the plan for her future was. Needless to say, we have heard absolutely nothing. Therefore we are completely in the dark regarding our mother’s well-being and future.

The ambiance and friendliness of this nursing home is second to none. The care and attention afforded to my mother is outstanding. The two care assistants who washed and cared for my mother today were both meticulous and thoughtful, they were gentle yet thorough in carrying out their duties.
I was
upset to see my mother in the situation that she is in BUT knowing that she is being cared for in such a tender way eased my mind.
Thank you everyone concerned in the care and help that you are giving ??????

Current Review Score: 7.7 (7.696)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.7 (7.696) out of 10 for Forest Court Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.071 for Forest Court Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (40 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) + (12 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 56 Ratings = 4.071

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.625 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Forest Court Nursing Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 16 = 0.25

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
