Hampton Lodge offers high quality nursing, residential dementia and respite care for up to 44 older people. Situated a couple of miles from the famous Southampton docks and close to the city centre, Hampton Lodge is a purpose-built home, providing tailored care in a warm, supportive and friendly environment.

Residents enjoy a calm, relaxed atmosphere and benefit from person-centred care. The home take time to get to know each individual’s history, personality and preferences, and find ways to make every day fulfilling.

The Activity Coordinator at Hampton Lodge works hard to keep the residents active and entertained with a fun-packed weekly calendar. Activities include: singing, bingo, quizzes, games, baking, afternoon tea and coffee mornings, animal visits, film afternoons, flower arranging, gardening, craft sessions and knitting.

Hampton Lodge is proud to be supported by a dedicated Chaplain, who offers pastoral support to all, whatever their beliefs. The Chaplain provides a listening presence, companionship and one-to-one pastoral support for all residents, their friends and relatives, and staff members - irrespective of their beliefs.

The home is easily accessible by public transport, close to the city centre and are located next door to MHA's Hebron Court retirement living apartment and MHA Communities Southampton.

I visit my mum and dad in Hampton Lodge several times a week, mum in nursing and dad in the dementia care home. I feel very at home, able to talk with the staff easily and they are all very caring and empathetic. The chefs make a lot of effort to cater to my parents' needs. Activities are great fun
and friends and family are able to visit at any time of day (and night if necessary) and are welcome to join in. My only concern is that good staff sometimes leave and I wish they were better rewarded.

This is the 3rd year Mum has been at Hampton Lodge, and she has been very happy since moving there.
The home has a peaceful atmosphere, they do a lot of activities with the residents, and music therapy is brilliant. The staff treat residents with respect and Mum is always clean and smart.
No home
is perfect, but Hampton Lodge is a place I would recommend.

This was a good choice of home, for us as a family, we are really happy with all aspects of the home.
There is a good variety of meals on offer, and the place is always kept clean. Staff are always friendly and helpful.

Our father is unable to see and can only use one side of his body. He is 94. The staff, care, nursing, management and reception have been so wonderful with him. They have displayed a caring but competent attitude. I feel confident every time I leave after visiting my father that he is in safe hands.
This is evident in every staff member.

In a very short space of time - one month, my mum has settled into her care home. This is due to very caring and patient staff. Given that prior to move from hospital of 13 weeks to care home of one month - Mum is remarkably calm - I have been mums carer for 3 years and I now visit mum at present 5
days out of 7. I see quite a lot of challenges but staff seem to have caring hearts.

The overall level of care is very good. Staff are generally competent and caring, and standards of cleanliness and hygiene are high.


Our one significant concern is that, particularly on cold winter days, the communal areas and residents' rooms are not kept heated to an appropriate level, taking into

consideration the age and frailty of most of the residents. Today (late November) the temperature in the lounge was only 16 C, and yet one window was kept open, causing several of the residents to complain of feeling cold. Radiators in the corridors are turned off, and some staff seem to be under the misapprehension that cold air is "healthy" for very elderly residents.

My mother and I would like to say what a lovely person the activities coordinator is and the chef who does the cooking, she is so sweet and kind and also brilliant at her job. The activities coordinator works so hard at what she does along with the chef who helps the activities coordinator. Each and
every one of the staff are so caring including the cleaner. I wish the auxiliary nurse who went to Australia would come back, we miss her.

Staff always polite and friendly, very helpful and kind to all residents. The home in my experience seems to have improved since the new management has been in position, nothing is too much bother and is always done promptly. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home and it's staff. The care
of my mother, in my opinion, is exemplary. I visit the home sometimes twice a day.

My mother was cared for at Hampton Lodge and the care she received was exemplary. She had Motor Neurones Disease and became increasingly physically disabled throughout her stay. ALL members of staff treated her with kindness, dignity and compassion. Despite my mother's illness she had a great sense
of humour and although her speech became increasingly more difficult for her, and for other people to understand, the staff always found time to listen to her and would make her laugh, which really helped mum enjoy each day. Mum really felt at "home" here and even towards the end of her life when she needed much more nursing care, more time and more staff were provided for her. As a family we were always made to feel welcome and were never made to feel "in the way". I cannot express enough the feeling of genuine kindness and thoughtfulness at Hampton Lodge. I would highly recommend this care home.

My wife has been at Hampton Lodge since she had a massive stroke in 2011. This has left her unable to talk, unable to read and unable to write so therefore she cannot communicate in any way. On top of this she cannot swallow so is on a "peg" feed. The love and care provided from top management right
the way through all levels of staff is in my opinion second to none. Every 2 or 3 months there is a relatives and friends meeting where we can talk to management regarding any queries regarding the home and anyone can see the manager at any time to discuss in private, matters about their loved one. I consider myself and my wife extremely lucky to have found such an excellent nursing home. Every time I visit I get the feeling that I am not so much going into a nursing home but visiting friends.

My name is Prescie and I am the Deputy Manager of Hampton Lodge Care Home. I can’t believe I’ve been here three years already!
My favourite part of my job is being able to support my colleagues on a daily basis and meeting the need and safety of my beloved residents. Also, appreciating that my work and myself have embedded the footprint of healthy working relationships within the staff, residents and other teams or partners of care. We have a spirit of openness here, and we support each other. There are challenges, but we get through it ‘easy peezy!!’
