For the two months, I have been at Signature, I have always been met with kindness and care from everyone. For the first few days, I was so impressed by the way the carers looked after the older people and those who needed more attention at the mealtimes. They all spoke so kindly, really lovingly to
them; it was/is so lovely to see. The rooms are kept very clean, also the bathroom. The activities are varied and well-thought-out, so enjoyable. I would recommend Signature to anyone seeking a home and am full of admiration for all the staff, especially the seniors who train them and are responsible for the atmosphere.

I can not fault the service provided for my sister, who seems very happy. She likes the staff who are very kind and efficient. The food quality is excellent. My main criticism is the very high costs which soon will become unattainable.

Lovely, comfortable room and welcoming public areas - more like a nice hotel than a care home. Everyone is friendly and welcoming - eager to please. Mum has slightly more care needs - having "low-vision" (WMDE a series of strokes) so needs help with certain things. Most staff are great - but the buzzers
(to summon help) are sometimes unanswered for a while. They seem to be short-staffed some days. Those who are working have to rush around to cover everyone they are looking after. They have been careful with visiting - which has been appreciated in lockdown. A lovely place and caring staff.

My mum is very happy and settled here. The carers are wonderful. When I had to self isolate this year, I could have complete confidence that Mum would be looked after well. The staff provide a high level of emotional support for residents in addition to caring for their physical well-being. I could
not ask for more caring or dedicated staff.

The admission from the hospital went smoothly due to the excellent manager at Sunrise and organising the change-over, which was a great help to me (wife) as I am elderly myself. She was very helpful, very friendly, and I cannot praise her enough. The chef and staff were good, as we had Sunday lunch
here with the rest of our family, which they enjoyed immensely.

When I walk through the entrance of Sunrise of Bassett, it feels as if I have just boarded a cruise ship. Even more so, when a talented musician is playing the grand piano as residents enjoy a coffee in the Bistro or are happily occupied with one of the many table-top activities.
There are strict
health and safety procedures, which are extremely reassuring, and these are excellently complemented by a high level of commitment to keeping everyone's wellbeing nurtured. Apart from me being able to visit often and at my convenience, I have also joined my friend at her birthday celebration, which was organised by the management and carers, and enjoyed a delicious three-course meal served in the restaurant's delightful facility for guests.
The friendly staff always either acknowledge or welcome me with a warm greeting, which makes me, as an outsider, feel as if I am a member of a very large family.

Dad really enjoyed his time at Sunrise. He enjoyed much of the food, trying several different dishes he's not had before, he put weight on! He didn't mix as much as our family would have hoped or expected, but that was his decision. The staff were over and above what we had hoped for, caring for him
in every way and also helping us as a family to see him, visit him and be in touch with him.

I have been visiting my friend who is a resident at Sunrise of Bassett for many years and thought I would like to say how very impressed I have been with how Sunrise has managed the home during this very difficult time. They have gone the extra mile in making sure that the residents are well cared for
and shown extreme sensitivity to them and their relatives and friends as they cope with these unprecedented times. We are kept up to date with all that is happening through emails and zoom meetings at which relatives and friends are invited to join in. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who are so thoughtful and caring. The home is immaculately clean and their attention to detail in this respect is second to none. The kitchen staff produce delicious healthy meals and are willing to provide an alternative if the two choices on the menu are not to the resident’s taste. I cannot recommend Sunrise too highly. If you are thinking of a home from home for your loved one look no further.

Mum has been a resident in Sunrise of Bassett for a number of years and is very comfortable and content. I am impressed with the competent management team currently in place and feel they are making a real difference to the quality of care which the residents receive. There is much better communication
with relatives than in the past. All the staff are very kind and always treat mum with respect and good humour. When we are able to visit, the open bistro area gives the feeling of a hotel rather than a care home and is an attractive area in which to spend time.

Sunrise has worked incredibly hard to keep the residents safe, and Mum has been very well and happy. Anything needed to discuss have been dealt with promptly by the manager. We're very glad Mum has been safe and been so well looked after this year.

The living space and staff are lovely. Food is delicious. Pre-Covid, they were able to go out and enjoy visiting places and have entertainers in, which was lovely. So pleased we can now visit inside, but behind a glass panel, keeping everyone safe.

Mum has been a Sunrise of Bassett resident for two years. Even though Mum is a dementia sufferer and not normally forthcoming in sharing her feelings, she does regularly comment that she is being well looked after by the lovely staff, in a nice place. I can only but agree.
Residents appear at ease
and engaged in their surroundings. For those who want it, there is a good range of activities.
Two years on, I am pleased we chose Sunrise.

Job Title: General Manager

I have worked in the care sector for 20 years, 17 as a Registered Manager, going on to become Regional Manager for Southern Services for a further two years with the same Company.


To further my knowledge in care I then took a role as Operations Manager for a domiciliary care company which I very much enjoyed although I realised over a period of time that the interaction with families and residents was something I missed hugely so decided to go with my heart and back into a care home environment.


I am very focused on providing the highest standard of care here at Southampton Manor, an environment where the resident is at the centre of all we do and building on a sense of community for those who live, work and visit the home.

Job Title: Activities and Volunteer Coordinator

I have been here since September 2011, starting off as a care manager, I have always been involved in supporting our residents with their daily activities. I really enjoy coming to work each day knowing that I am able to make a difference to our residents lives nurturing their mind, body and spirit. I have always felt passionate to encourage equality within our community by finding the residents activities suited for their individual needs by adapting activities, giving them the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and talents.


We arrange various special events, entertainment and trips out of the community each week. We also encourage and support our residents to plan and organise their own activities whether it be hobbies or interests we will ensure a successful experience.

Job Title: Dining Services Coordinator

My journey as Dinging Service Coordinator here started in July 2019. I am very privileged to have joined a professional team of Chefs, Dining Staff, Catering staff, and the whole of the Bassett team, who have helped me to settle into my role.


In My 36 years as a Chef and Catering Manager I have never worked in the care sector. I am enjoying learning new skills every day. I have however worked in many different areas of the hospitality industry. Won awards, cooked and served for Royalty. I spent 12 years in Spain as Head Chef for a very busy Fish and Steak Restaurant, so with that in mind I hope to share my knowledge and experience to enhance what is already and exceptionally first class service. By providing an exclusive, comfortable environment for residents to enjoy high quality, fresh, flavoursome, nutritionally balanced food. I look forward to the challenge, and achieving all my goals here.

I joined the Signature at Bassett team in October 2019 as a Support Worker and quickly progressed within the home to a Covid Coordinator role and then successfully secured the role of Maintenance Coordinator. I have since become the Client Liaison Manager for Southampton Manor. Prior to working with the adult care sector, I worked for local Government & Housing Associations in a variety of roles within the Housing and Homelessness sector.
