After losing my wife and my home I am so grateful for all the kind care I now receive at Sunrise. Food is excellent, many varied activities and ready access to medical facilities. My rooms are now my home and I am a contented 91 year old.

My friends were unable to manage at home and had become malnourished and ill. Within two months (in 2014) they were back to their old selves. This month the wife had been brought very low by a chest infection but has rallied well. This would not be the case I am sure without the care and attention of
the staff at Sunrise and the comfortable environment of their suite. I am very reassured that they are well cared for and that their needs will be met so my input is not essential. I think Sunrise is quite a find.

I am discomforted by apparently long "waits" by wheelchair patients. Vague messages about how long a patient will have to wait are very frustrating especially when grossly inaccurate leading to long delays.

When my husband passed away in 2013 I knew it would be impossible for me to continue to live in our four bedroom bungalow in a rural part of the Isle of Wight. Our two daughters were and continue to be the support I needed and with their help I came to make my home here- in one room at first and later
moved to two rooms where I have separate bedroom and sitting room, and that to me is now my home. I don't think anything can be absolutely perfect in this circumstances but I am able to join in most activities and thankful for that and also that I am mobile.

I came to Sunrise from hospital after several operations in very poor health and now after 13 months with the care I have had at Sunrise. I am back again to reasonably good health. Thank you to all the staff at Sunrise.

Having been here for a month in 2012 to recover after serious illness I am now a resident while my water damaged flat is being repaired. It was my decision to come here again because this in my opinion is a very well run home. There is total freedom to do as one wishes and having private rooms with
en suite shower rooms is a particular plus. I would highly recommend Sunrise to anyone who can afford to stay here. Fees are high but fair for the services provided.

Job Title: General Manager

I have worked in the care sector for 20 years, 17 as a Registered Manager, going on to become Regional Manager for Southern Services for a further two years with the same Company.


To further my knowledge in care I then took a role as Operations Manager for a domiciliary care company which I very much enjoyed although I realised over a period of time that the interaction with families and residents was something I missed hugely so decided to go with my heart and back into a care home environment.


I am very focused on providing the highest standard of care here at Southampton Manor, an environment where the resident is at the centre of all we do and building on a sense of community for those who live, work and visit the home.

Job Title: Activities and Volunteer Coordinator

I have been here since September 2011, starting off as a care manager, I have always been involved in supporting our residents with their daily activities. I really enjoy coming to work each day knowing that I am able to make a difference to our residents lives nurturing their mind, body and spirit. I have always felt passionate to encourage equality within our community by finding the residents activities suited for their individual needs by adapting activities, giving them the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and talents.


We arrange various special events, entertainment and trips out of the community each week. We also encourage and support our residents to plan and organise their own activities whether it be hobbies or interests we will ensure a successful experience.

Job Title: Dining Services Coordinator

My journey as Dinging Service Coordinator here started in July 2019. I am very privileged to have joined a professional team of Chefs, Dining Staff, Catering staff, and the whole of the Bassett team, who have helped me to settle into my role.


In My 36 years as a Chef and Catering Manager I have never worked in the care sector. I am enjoying learning new skills every day. I have however worked in many different areas of the hospitality industry. Won awards, cooked and served for Royalty. I spent 12 years in Spain as Head Chef for a very busy Fish and Steak Restaurant, so with that in mind I hope to share my knowledge and experience to enhance what is already and exceptionally first class service. By providing an exclusive, comfortable environment for residents to enjoy high quality, fresh, flavoursome, nutritionally balanced food. I look forward to the challenge, and achieving all my goals here.

I joined the Signature at Bassett team in October 2019 as a Support Worker and quickly progressed within the home to a Covid Coordinator role and then successfully secured the role of Maintenance Coordinator. I have since become the Client Liaison Manager for Southampton Manor. Prior to working with the adult care sector, I worked for local Government & Housing Associations in a variety of roles within the Housing and Homelessness sector.
