This beautiful home was originally built as a large and grand house at the beginning of the 1900’s, and has been totally renovated and refurbished over the years.

Bedrooms are furnished and decorated to a high standard and staff encourage residents to bring in personal items such as ornaments and photographs to enable them to feel completely at home. Families can install personal televisions and telephones as they wish.

There is a lounge and separate dining room for residents, their families and friends to meet and relax in. The lounge has a television, radio, DVD and video player, with a selection of videos and tapes for residents to enjoy.

There are a large selection of books, both large and small print. There is an outstandingly attractive, large, well-established garden for residents to enjoy when they wish. Staff try to make as much use of this as possible and have several gazebos and sitting areas on the lawns and on the patio, where they often have afternoon tea.

There is ample room for car parking at the front of the property.

The staff were so lovely and caring. They really looked after my mother in her final days. The room was very pleasant and clean and my mother thought the food was wonderful. I would definitely recommend the home to others looking for a nursing home. Due to COVID, I am not able to comment on activities
offered in normal times.

My dad stayed here for a few weeks before his passing from vascular dementia.
The care he received was exactly what he needed, and the staff were all so kind to him, treating him with compassion and dignity every step of the way. They were also lovely to his family and genuinely cared about how we
were feeling. The home was lovely and clean too. We take great comfort knowing Dad was so well cared for and that he was treated as he deserved.

Excellent care of my son's last days, very kind staff, professional nursing care, great understanding towards relatives. Well kept home, lovely gardens, good food. All this good care even with all the huge problems of the pandemic.

Relinquishing care of a loved one to a third party was not easy and we just wanted somewhere safe and happy. We chose Woodlands Ridge because we believed in the " We work in your home" ethos and were very happy with what we had seen on our visit. The location, building and garden make it a wonderful
place to be living and the room is bright and spacious with contemporary, comfortable furnishings. There are a variety of activities undertaken and staff work extremely hard to include everyone and keep them entertained. It is a shame that the level of staffing makes it difficult for carers to spend any extra time with the residents. They are constantly answering call buzzers and sometimes cannot respond as quickly as they would like. None-the-less they carry out their jobs with smiles and caring hearts. Considering nowhere was ever going to be like home I think we made the right choice. I just wish that profit margins were not an issue in the care home business.

The home is well run, with staff and management committed to providing a service to the residents which is caring, friendly and thoughtful. Occasionally faults do occur, which, when pointed out, are rectified quickly. I am very happy having my wife here, and wouldn't wish her to be anywhere else.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.495)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.495) out of 10 for Woodlands Ridge Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.795 for Woodlands Ridge Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (64 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 78 Ratings = 4.795

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodlands Ridge Nursing Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 20 registered maximum number of service users is 4, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
