Set in the village of Widford, Ashview Nursing Home is proud to offer exceptional accommodation, engaging activities and a beautiful picturesque outdoor garden. The historic converted manor house has a capacity of 32, split between 30 single rooms and 1 double. 13 of the bedrooms have ensuites.

Ashview rooms are well-proportioned and roomy. The home provides the basic furniture but urges residents to bring their favoured items in order to personalise their space.

The dedicated activities team has a full calendar of interesting activities planned. This includes trips out to local sites, visiting entertainers, 1-1 sessions and various other activities, chosen with the residents and designed to be fun, purposeful and encourage socialisation.

The Ashview team is committed to providing person-centred care. That means that together with the residents and their loved ones they create detailed care plans to fit each individual while maintaining their safety, privacy and dignity.

My mother has been cared for at Ashview Nursing Home for over a year. The care she has received and the concern with which she has been given it by all members of staff has been nothing short of wonderful. I would highly recommend Ashview Nursing Home to anyone in the same position as my family.

Ashview is a fantastic caring place. The nurses and carers are very very kind and considerate and thoughtful. Nothing is too much for them at any given time.
My mother's experience here made her happy in her last weeks. The food is fantastic and the staff are excellent.

When my mother came into the care home was only expected to live for 48-72 hours but due to the hard work and attention, we have seen my mother receive over the last 2 months, she is now a completely different person.

My mum spent her final 4 weeks at Ashview in November/December 2018 at the end of her battle with cancer. During this time she was afforded the most fantastic care from the nurses and carers at Ashview. They were extremely professional, caring, friendly and most of all got to know her and spent time
to really understand how she was feeling in her final days and to support her and her family. I would certainly recommend this home to anyone with any nursing home requirements. Special thanks to those who went over and above what was expected.

We cared for dad at home as best we could, but with the best will in the world, we couldn't be there 24/7. He initially moved into Ashview for a couple of months respite, to give everyone a much-needed break. He quickly realised how much help he needed, especially with personal hygiene and decided to
stay.
Dad was at Ashview for just over a year. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with dementia and his health deteriorated quickly. Ashview and the GP constantly reviewed his care package to accommodate this and the family was always consulted.
Sadly, dad died in September 2018 but the support to the family continued.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ashview to another family facing the dilemma of care home-v-care at home. Our thanks to all.

A homely nursing home with very dedicated and caring staff. My mother was transferred to Ashview from the hospital for palliative nursing care. She was very well looked after, all the staff knew her by name and would stop and chat. They helped her with all aspects of her daily life and made the last
few weeks of her life very comfortable. The home is in a beautiful setting with a lovely big garden which is accessible by all residents. They even have a resident cat who everyone loves!
I would definitely recommend this nursing home and would like to thank everyone who cared for my mother.

With the care my mother-in-law has received over the last year, she has improved beyond all recognition getting her appetite back being encouraged to get up and join the other resident. Has been fantastic. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The food is always nice and the staff are on hand to

The care my father has received at Ashview has been second to none. He has multiple complex disabilities which I will not go into, but, suffice to say, Ashview manage these requirements with the utmost professionalism. Even before he arrived they decorated his room and made it look brilliant. They really
look after the building, the rooms and make the place look super. The care he receives from all of the staff has been phenomenal. The activities provided are brilliant. The food is excellent and the staff ensure that my father is engaged all day long. Ashview is an outstanding home with outstanding staff and leadership.

The staff have been wonderful, supportive, caring and welcoming during my visits and for the duration of my mothers time at the home.

When I was first told I would have to spend some time in a nursing home I was terrified after some of the reports on the television.
I needn't have worried if I was told I would have to spend the rest of my time in a nursing home, I would hope it would be in Ashview.
I can't praise Ashview enough.
The carers have a sense of humour and are very caring. The food is excellent as good as any hotel.

My review is based on observations made during my weekly visits which were always during the afternoon.


In general, the home has a pleasant, relaxed domestic atmosphere with good access to a garden. I would recommend it.


I usually sat in the lounge and saw enough staff and equipment to deal with

residents' needs. The staff were also friendly and helpful to a visitor.

Mum was transferred from hospital approximately four months ago. She was extremely unwell, extremely nervous and anxious. Within a few days she considered this her home.
The staff are amazing, the food is Michelin style!
Mum shows no signs at all of being uncomfortable. The other residents are friendly
and extremely respectful to each other. I cannot praise it enough.

My stepfather has only been at the nursing home for two months. I've found them to be extremely accommodating.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. It makes for a lovely atmosphere when you go to visit.
It's very clean and bright in the lounge and looking out onto the garden makes it feel very
homely.
He always looks nice and clean and has put on weight since being there.

The care provided is extremely good. All staff deal with residents and visitors in a very friendly, helpful and respectful way. The wishes of the residents is of utmost importance. The food is well prepared and delicious as my brother always clears his plate and he has always been very particular about

I knew my friend for about forty years but her health deteriorated and I became her carer. In June 2017 she was taken into hospital and I was told she had pancreatic cancer. She was moved into Ashview Widford in July. The staff looked after her well for her remaining seven weeks. She was given excellent
food and help with eating it as it became more difficult, her favourites were fish and chicken I believe. Her room was kept clean and her clothes washed for her and the busy staff visited her frequently to ensure that she was comfortable. Her room was well ventilated when the weather allowed.

My mum was moved to Ashview the week before Christmas. I was anxious about the move because she was frail and needed a facility that provided compassionate quality care. My experience and that of all of her visitors, my mum's direct comments were the following - Everyone is so kind here, my room is
warm and cosy, the food is really good. My wishes are respected. The team at Ashview went above and beyond for us and for my mum, we are so grateful for the expertise, compassion and kindness.
The Manager of the facility is caring, skilled and very compassionate. The tone she sets resonates with the entire team and patients and families.

My 87-year-old Mum finally decided she could no longer manage at home. Our experience with Ashview so far has been everything we could wish for from the initial assessment in Mum’s Home with a wonderful deputy manager taking time to see my Mum and understand the person she was in her own home to the
kind and helpful transition to her room in Ashview where all the carers are well-trained kind and helpful and take the time to relate to their charges. The management is approachable and inspires confidence at this heartfelt time.

Catherine first joined Broome End nearly 20 years ago as a carer. Over the past two decades, she has managed a number of different settings, including a large nursing home and a specialist dementia day centre. Catherine is determined to deliver the best in class care, which drives us to be innovative in our approach. This focus has helped us achieve Essex Care Home of the Year recently. She has joined Ashview last year.
