Welcome to Forest Care Village Care Centre in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. The modern facility offers 24-hour nursing care for adults with life-long physical conditions, particularly those with Acquired Brain Injuries and neurological conditions and24 hour nursing care for those aged 65 and over.

The home is blessed with a dedicated team of nursing and support staff that provide high-quality, person-centred care within a homely environment. They work in partnership with visiting therapists to offer short and long-term placements, palliative, respite and post-operative care.

The purpose-built facility comprises 178 bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities; a large physiotherapy suite; music and sensory facilities and courtyard sensory gardens. They encourage residents to furnish their new surroundings with familiar pieces of furniture and personal possessions to make them feel truly at home.

While the home's bedrooms provide a tranquil area to rest and relax, the modern communal lounges offer residents the opportunity to catch up with friends over a pot of tea, enjoy one of the guest entertainers or simply recline in front of their favourite film.

At Forest Care Village, they encourage residents to take part in a range of engaging activities based on their lifestyle needs and preferences. Many of their activities take place within the home environment and include art workshops, handicrafts, garden parties, and barbecues. They empower individuals to enjoy those everyday routines they cherish, whether that’s having a salon blow-dry and manicure or keeping up to date with their favourite football team. I am very happy living here at The Village. There is always plenty to do, with daily activities and lots of events and entertainment to look forward to. The carers are always helpful along with my personal care. We now have a new manager who is always out on the floor talking to us residents and joining
in with entertainment. I am enjoying the new menu, and the kitchen staff are always helpful, the housekeeper keeps my room lovely and clean. Laundry staff are also very helpful.

I have been here for six weeks now, and I find the staff very helpful and caring, always polite and friendly. Goo team ethic, and if they notice something wrong or not working, they deal with it even if it is not their area.
I feel very included here.

My brother has been staying at Forest Care Village for the last 6 months. He has multiple amputations and arrived at Forrest Care unwell both physically and mentally after a long hospital stay. We were nervous about care homes as he has never been in one and he is only 40 years old!
But we have been
so pleasantly surprised and all our fears were put to rest.


The staff are so caring and go out of their way to help him in every way possible- with self-care, medical care, getting him into a routine etc. He has a large room which is spacious and clean and he is so comfortable there. The head nurse has been especially impressive and has helped my brother so much- she genuinely cares for him and knows how to communicate with him.
Would highly recommend the home.

The nurses, carers and therapists are really nice and caring but the management is not brilliant because they keep getting rid of staff to save money. Also, the equipment is not very good in the Gymn. If you are looking for intensive therapy for your relative this is not the place. Many residents have
nearly walked out because they have nobody at the reception after 6pm. Also if you have an emergency on a weekend or after 6 on weekdays nobody answers. This place is driven by profits.

My mother was placed here after a fall for recovery. At first, she was treated very kindly, but towards the end of her stay she became more of a 'nuisance'. I came to visit several times mid-morning to find her still in her nightwear and not having had a shower, waiting for some help. When she said
she was tired at the end of the afternoon instead of being encouraged to have a little snooze in her chair, she was put to bed at 6pm, which resulted in her waking up in the middle of the night. This was very disorientating for her. Although we brought in enough clothes for at least 10 days she rarely had clean clothes in her wardrobe/chest of drawers. I felt that she was not treated with much dignity overall, although a few of her carers were outstanding.

At first, extremely reluctant to enter Forest Care Village but on arrival was greeted with great warmth. Rooms were pleasant and many safety precautions were obvious. Only quibble - no access to lighting from bed - very annoying when wanting the toilet. Food is very good but I dislike unsalted food
and found it hard to get hold of salt sachets. The care was faultless with carers on hand 24/7 to attend to my needs, big or small. The cleanliness is faultless and the friendliness never falters.

I have been here a long time, and I am very happy. I don't feel lonely because there are things to do most days - making things - singers coming in. Even bingo is quite fun! Sometimes we go on trips. Even with Covid things, have been going on. We have physio sometimes.

Overall I have been impressed by the level of care and concern from the management down to the carers and cleaners. I have received physio input every working day and over six weeks have progressed from a useless lump who had to have everything done for her to an almost independent being. I have been
very comfortable (maybe a little warm at times) and have enjoyed joining in the various activities if only to help those less able. The quality, variety, and presentation of the food have been exemplary and give us all something to look forward to every day.

I've been in Forest Care Village for a month now for rehab having spent a fortnight in hospital following an accident. I have found that the overall care, cleanliness, food and kindness have all been excellent. The only comment I would make is that at times I have waited quite a while (in excess of
forty minutes) for a carer to respond to me pressing my call button. This is not a regular occurrence but I wonder if it indicates that on some shifts there are insufficient carers on duty. But I do have to repeat that management, nurses, carers and housekeepers have all been great during my stay - thank you!

My passion is quality and clinical governance because this focuses on the people we support, ensuring excellence in care.
