My stepdad has been a resident for nearly a year. We are happy with the service provided at Houndswood House Care Home. The staff are lovely, very friendly and caring. The care home is beautiful, it's like a four or five-star hotel that I stayed in while in Las Vegas last summer.
The rooms are lovely
too. We recommend the care home.

I am really impressed with the service provided at Houndswood House. Staff are polite, observant, friendly and caring. It is very clear that all staff members are well trained and supervised. The care plans and monitoring of residents daily needs/activities are excellent. Residents are encouraged to
socialise and join in with the excellent leisure activities provided. I would wholeheartedly recommend Houndswood House to anyone.

My mother has been resident for a couple of months and I cannot believe how lucky we have been to find this care home. The place is clean, very well run and the staff are amazing. There is a very happy atmosphere about the place with staff and residents alike.

Recently visited a life long friend who has been at the home for some time now, it was an extremely pleasant visit. We sat in the garden and enjoyed a cup of tea together whilst admiring their lovely grounds.


He seems very happy and settled.

Very nice staff. Always a smile. Helpful.
Home spotless. Dining areas and lounges like a 4-star hotel.
My sister enjoyed her respite.
Outside area - gardens really nice.
Would recommend.

Activities have been tremendous, meal times have been fun and great to see dad interacting with the staff and other residents. The food was excellent, care has been extremely good and the whole atmosphere of the home is brilliant.

Since my father has been at Houndswood House, my sister and I have been able to enjoy him again. For the first time in 18 months, it feels like we finally have him back, his communication has improved and the staff are always so kind and gentle with him. We are very happy and confident with the care
he is receiving.

Mum has dementia and, following a stroke, was unable to walk. We moved her into residential care at Houndswood House, but it became clear after just three weeks they were unable to adequately meet her needs. A couple of incidents caused us to lose confidence, so we moved mum to a new home. Within days
her mental and physical wellbeing improved dramatically. The house and grounds at Houndswood House are very attractive, so it might be a good option for assisted living, but based on my experience, not suitable for those as vulnerable as Mum. Some of the regular carers were lovely but they were in the minority. There was a heavy reliance on agency staff and, in my view, a lack of strong leadership.

I am sorry that on this occasion we weren’t able to fulfil your mother’s needs. With regards to staffing, we always operate at safe levels and this is regularly reviewed to match our residents’ requirements. Following recent recruitment to our team, our home now has zero agency use and we are fully staffed in all departments, including 2 recently appointed activities co-ordinators. Our leadership has gone from strength to strength since our Home Manager joined us and he is now well established in post, in addition to having a full-time clinical Deputy Manager. Thanks again for your review, all feedback is much appreciated.

Even the initial approach to the property tells all.
The caring, the attention to detail, the cleanliness, the attitiude of everyone we meet is superb. This same attitude follows through into the care of the residents. It seems a wonderful home to spend your twilight years.

From the moment my sister and I looked at Houndswood, everyone was helpful, knowledgeable and could not do enough to help us. Our father moved into Houndswood and as his daughters, we feel that all the staff cannot do enough to make sure our father is cared for, listened to and all his needs are met
to the highest level and show him the dignity and respect he deserves.

The amazing changes that have happened in the last 5 months are incredible. The house is now welcoming, clean and doesn't smell as before. The carers are outstanding. I have known quite a few in the last 6 years and they are like friends. Keep up the good work. The rating for management only refer to
many managers so cannot really rate.
