Kilfillan House provides nursing, residential, palliative, Parkinson's and convalescence care. The home offers both long-term and short-stay care.

Located in a pleasant residential area not far from the town centre of Berkhamsted, this former manor house provides first-class accommodation and facilities. Interiors include comfortable ensuite bedrooms while outside offers pretty mature gardens with a greenhouse and sensory garden, each providing the ideal setting to relax and unwind.

The chef provides meals that are tasty and nutritious and works hard to ensure that all residents’ dietary requirements are met. Home-made sweet treats are available every day and the home enjoys celebrating each resident’s birthday with a personalised birthday cake.

Daily activities and regular outings are arranged for residents and friends and family are always welcome to join in.

Very happy with Kilfillan and more importantly Dad is happy and settled there. He has improved health wise since he has been there and he is being really well looked after.

Mum has been in Kilfillan House for 3 years. The care has always been good, but recently a new staff member has enhanced mum's care by his genuine and caring approach and I am delighted that he has joined this team. He is pleasant, calm, kind and always has time to update me on mum's progress.

Both my parents came to Kilfallan House for palliative care. Our greatest fear was that it might become necessary for them to be admitted to hospital. Because of the high standard of nursing care at the home and the commitment of all the staff, this was avoided and they were able to spend their final
days being well cared for and in comfort.

My mother is happy and settled at Kilfillan House and the staff are very kind and treat her like a member of the Kilfillan family. We have been so grateful that she has been in such a caring environment through these difficult times. The staff have been very accomodating and reassuring at all times.

On arrival, I was made to feel comfortable and although my room was small there was an attractive view from my window with good toilet/shower facilities. The meals were suitable for my age and healthy whilst there was flexibility in getting juices instead of coffee/tea. I never felt that I was a nuisance
as all the staff were used to all the problems that residents have. With COVID 19 regulations there were few activities available but the conservatory had books and games available. My main problem was understanding the instructions given by staff having to wear masks and having accents different to my own so I often had to ask for them to repeat what they had said and I found this embarrassing. I was surprised that vitamin D tablets weren't given.

Stayed here for 8-days to convalesce after being in the hospital before going home. Kind and helpful staff - a rather variable efficiency in how each day is run, according to which nurses are on duty.

My brother and I are very satisfied with the care and attention given to our mother since first admittance in November 2012. Although we have not been able to visit her since mid-March this year, we are confident that her care and attention is still very good.

Caring, helpful, and obliging. Kilfillan have coped very well in allowing my father, aged 93 and blind, to see his wife, aged 92 in Kilfillan during these very difficult times.

Facilities are limited due to the nature of the building, which is a converted house. Staff are friendly and courteous but do not always respond quickly to calls. My husband is well cared for and I am confident that he is in safe hands. Response to the coronavirus was very good. Everyone was tested
early and the virus was kept out of the house.

As a result of the lockdown we have been unable to visit for 2 months so are not able to see things. However, we applaud the decision for an early lockdown by Kilfillan House and for the management of the virus pandemic, as, to our knowledge, there has been no-one suffering from the virus in the home,
which is excellent. When we phoned the home with any concerns staff have been curteous and reassuring. My father, 99 on Friday, remains in goo health, if a bit erratic in his thinking! Thank you.

The success of this home is totally down to the fantastic manageress and the great staff she employs. All staff are professional, intuitive, kind, caring, and will go out of their way. This is a wonderful care home run by amazing staff. It is warm, cosy, safe, and in beautiful surroundings. Only negative,
fees expensive and continually rose way above inflation.

I arrived at Kilfillan House care Home on the 18th March to be greeted by very enthusiastic and caring nursing staff. I was also introduced to the visiting Doctor and details of my medical history of recent times were discussed in the comfort of my accommodation on the ground floor. From this room,
I had a beautiful view of the garden which I found so beneficial during lockdown due to Covid-19. The care and attention were continuous and carried out from early morning until bedtime with courtesy and friendly service.

Management is very approachable and understanding and helpful whenever possible. Nursing managers very efficient, friendly, and professional. Carers all friendly, capable, and willing, most of the time. The kitchen staff tries very hard to please every individual's dietary needs. Residents all like
the entertainment provided but there can be long gaps of several days sometimes and then time can be quite boring and miserable for them. This is where I think an improvement in some way is needed and would be welcomed, especially at weekends.
