My experience is difficult due to the pandemic of COVID 19. I have not been inside Vecta House only the reception. I saw mum today for the first in 1 month and I have to say she looks very well. I have had contact through phones and meeting with her carers. I am happy to say the care she is receiving
is outstanding. The carers at Vecta have made a terrible for my mum and me so much easier.

The staff at Vecta House are professional and kind, treating residents as individuals and taking the trouble to get to know their backgrounds too. Under extraordinary circumstances during the Covid-19 pandemic, they locked down quickly, keeping their residents safe and well. We have been able to talk
to Mum via Skype and Zoom all through this which has been wonderful. It is so reassuring to know that the home’s primary focus is on taking great care of their residents. The home is always clean and tidy, there are activities to do too. Mum always looks so tidy and well-groomed, happy and with a good appetite. Thank you all.

The whole team at Vecta House make it what it is, so warm and friendly with everyone so caring and professional at what they do. As I do not live on the Island, regular communication is essential for knowing that my sister is safe and well. Being so far away can be difficult but the team do a brilliant
job of keeping me involved and giving me peace of mind. My sister is cared for so beautifully and the amazing gardens, plus the spacious layout of Vecta House, gives my sister the freedom to be very happy in her world - to us, this means so much.

I will always be grateful that my mum spent her last months at Vecta House.
She was well cared for and respected throughout her stay. I spent a lot of time here with her and saw first-hand how the staff treat the residents with respect and professionalism.
That care and respect were extended to
me too; the key staff always made time to talk to me, and give me honest information about my mum's condition. I felt very early on that they got a sense of my mum; which really put my mind at rest.
The staff here are a little like superheroes in my mind. They deal with some very difficult challenges that dementia patients exhibit, yet the atmosphere at Vecta is positive and caring.
I am so comforted that this is where Mum was looked after.

My mum is resident at Vecta House and has been through various stages of Dementia. The staff are caring and hardworking and Mum is looked after very well. I have no concerns for her welfare or care. Families and residents are treated with dignity and respect at all times. I would highly recommend Vecta
House to anyone looking for a care home for a loved one. This is often a really difficult decision to make but I can honestly say the level of care she receives here is exceptional. Nothing is ever too much for the people working to keep her comfortable, well and safe.

My wife of 46 years has settled in very well after a bad stay at another home.
The staff are great and manager greater.

I found the staff very caring and helpful to my husband's difficulties or forgetfulness and confused times. He found it stressful as he doesn't know why I wasn't there and had forgotten I was in hospital.

Have been visiting for over 2 years and have always found the staff very helpful, friendly, happy and let themselves be known to you if there are any questions one has in relation to who they are seeing. Always when the drinks cart is around you are asked if you would like a drink. This provider is
always clean, tidy, spotless each time I have been around.

The home has just been refurbished so currently is lovely and clean and fresh outside areas always look attractive and inviting, although I have never seen them used?
In general, I have always felt the care here to be very good and staff very helpful and interactive.
However, on this visit, I did
not see any of the 'usual' staff members and my mother had not really been attended to all morning which I am not so happy about.

Mum has been a resident for nearly a month and we have been so impressed with the whole experience. Most importantly the staff throughout are excellent and treat Mum with kindness, knowledge and respect. The difficulties of transferring from independent living to a care home have been difficult for
Mum but she has settled reasonably well and is much better physically after only 3 weeks. She is enjoying the excellent food and has surprised us by joining in activities and outings. Credit must go to all the staff.

I find that the home has improved in recent months under new management. My mother likes to regularly have cheese and biscuits for pudding but to my knowledge, only one type of cheese is ever offered. If this is a small indication of menus, then more variety and more imagination is needed.
Sometimes,
on entering from reception, there is a very strong smell of urine, which is off-putting and unpleasant. I feel that my mother is receiving very good care, all things considered. There is nowhere better on the island for her.

Since becoming a resident with dementia at Vecta House Care Home six months ago, my husband has definitely improved with his everyday living. The carers are really kind and attentive and he is happy in his new environment.
The care home is spacious and allows my husband 'freedom' of movement which
is important to him.
This leaves me happy with peace of mind. His appetite has increased and he is looking so much better. He is being well cared for by pleasant, caring staff.

Hi, my name is Nicky, I am proud to be the General Manager at Vecta House. I have managed 3 other care homes on the island before moving to Vecta House. I was the Registered Manager at The Briars before joining Vecta, The Briars was rated OUTSTANDING by CQC under my management.
I have worked in the health care profession for 30 years.
Vecta House is a unique dementia specialised home, where we offer person led care and recognise the importance of family involvement and support.

Hello, my name is Chris, and I have been working at Vecta since June 2018.


Before joining Vecta, I spent 10 years as the Head Chef at another care home, working closely with people living with dementia.


It is an age-old saying that ‘home is where the heart is', and to me, the heart of all homes should be the kitchen. The pattern of our life revolves around food and drink; it sustains, nurtures and brings us together as family, and friends. It marks times of celebration and significant events, reminding us of what is important in our life.
I enjoy spending time with residents and learning about their individual likes, dislikes and needs. This is their home and I try to create menus that respect this and involve them in this process as much as possible by recreating meals that they have come to love and food that they cherish.


Quality ingredients and presentation are essential; if something is to have value it should look good and reflect the care that has gone into its making.
