The management showed us around with pride. All the staff said hello to us, unlike my mother's previous home.
They quickly learnt mine and my family's names. They treat my mother with respect and care for her dignity excellently. I have recommended Vecta House to friends who have relatives in a similar
position.

My experience as a concerned daughter has been good. My mother was treated with kindness, gentleness and affection. No once did I hear anything said or done that I would have felt uncomfortable with.

My mum and dad have both been lucky enough to end their days at Barchester Vecta House Care Home. One after 18 months and the other after 3 years. Both have had the care I could only have wished for. I can't thank the staff enough for everything. If anyone has had any experience of Barchester Vecta
House Care Home, I have. It's a very friendly home and they have put up with me every day for each amount of time. I can't thank them enough.

My husband has been at Vecta House since 2014. I am so grateful to all the staff and managers for the excellent care he receives, I have only ever seen dedicated, caring, respectful, understanding care given to all residents. The manager and his deputy are devoted to their patients- willingly drop everything
to fill in to cover absenteeism with an occasional shortage of staff. They will not just use agency staff as they feel it's so important for both patients and relatives to feel there is always continuity of care. Familiar faces to care for so many severely troubled soles. They care for the families so much and involve us in the management of our relatives. I feel the latest quality commission report was damning and harsh and the overall loyalty and dedication of all the staff is undermined. Maybe there were a few things that needed change but to deflate such wonderful care is sad.

My mother was a redient at Vecta House from March 2014 until her death in November 2016. She was treated with dignity and utmost care at all times no matter how difficult her behaviour became because of her Alzheimer's Disease. I cannot praise the staff and management highly enough. I also received
great support from everyone. Any problems were dealt with promptly and efficiently.

Vecta House provides stimulating care in wonderful surroundings. Staff are excellent, food excellent. Residents can walk between three wings and enjoy the delightful gardens. They also have a full nursing service for residents nearing the end of their journey.

Very pleased with the care given to my husband. He is always treated with dignity and the staff are wonderful. His room is pleasant but the en-suite could do with a facelift. The lounges are a bit tired looking too. The gardens are lovely.
The food is plentiful and well presented. A good and varied
menu too. He especially enjoys the puddings. He has been in two other care homes but Vecta is the only one he has seemed settled in. They manage him very well.

Hi, my name is Nicky, I am proud to be the General Manager at Vecta House. I have managed 3 other care homes on the island before moving to Vecta House. I was the Registered Manager at The Briars before joining Vecta, The Briars was rated OUTSTANDING by CQC under my management.
I have worked in the health care profession for 30 years.
Vecta House is a unique dementia specialised home, where we offer person led care and recognise the importance of family involvement and support.

Hello, my name is Chris, and I have been working at Vecta since June 2018.


Before joining Vecta, I spent 10 years as the Head Chef at another care home, working closely with people living with dementia.


It is an age-old saying that ‘home is where the heart is', and to me, the heart of all homes should be the kitchen. The pattern of our life revolves around food and drink; it sustains, nurtures and brings us together as family, and friends. It marks times of celebration and significant events, reminding us of what is important in our life.
I enjoy spending time with residents and learning about their individual likes, dislikes and needs. This is their home and I try to create menus that respect this and involve them in this process as much as possible by recreating meals that they have come to love and food that they cherish.


Quality ingredients and presentation are essential; if something is to have value it should look good and reflect the care that has gone into its making.
