Situated in the heart of the Garden of England, Abbotsleigh Care Centre provides elderly individuals with tailored nursing and dementia care, with compassion, dignity and respect.

Residents and their families feel supported by an expert staff team in a home-from-home environment.

The home offers single room accommodation, most with ensuite facilities. Set among expansive grounds and beautiful gardens, Abbotsleigh has three lounges, two dining rooms and a health and well-being sensory room.

Abbotsleigh residents get to enjoy professional entertainers, sing-a-longs and summer BBQs, as well as trips to the seaside, local gardens and historic sites. Residents are encouraged to remain active and pursue hobbies and interests, both old and new.

One of the first care providers to champion the importance of nutrition for the elderly and those with dementia, Nellsar employ a nutrition and wellness manager for their homes. Abbotsleigh acknowledges that nutrition and hydration are an integral part of good health and well-being, delivering well-balanced, nutritious meals and snacks to residents every day.

Abbotsleigh also benefits from a well-being team of fully-qualified holistic therapists who use nurturing touch, complementary therapies and relaxing treatments to improve residents’ quality of life and sense of well-being.

Employing high-tech care planning technology, Abbotsleigh care staff use the ®Nourish system, spending less time on paperwork and more time caring for their residents.

Very attentive service. Could not do enough to make the visit comfortable for both the service user and visitors. Was a little perturbed to see not a lot of communication with some of the other service users I felt was required. Did not affect us or our visit.

The home we chose for mum was based not only on the quality of the building, furnishings and care planning, but we needed to ‘feel’ that she would be in a loving environment. Abbotsleigh Care Centre hit the mark on all counts, faultless every visit and went beyond care homes I have been involved with.
I cannot recommend this home enough, because the staff go the extra mile to ensure the residents are surrounded by love, given the attention needed medically and family kept up to date with any changes. Thank you for looking after my mum with the respect and dignity she would have wanted, I will always be in your debt for that.

Our Mum was a resident at Abbotsleigh Care Centre for 3 years, from January 2019 through to January 2022, when she passed away. The care that Mum received in those 3 years was of a very high standard, we always knew that Mum was very well taken care of and that was a real comfort for our family, especially
during the pandemic when we were not able to visit as frequently. We are so grateful to the Manager and her team of dedicated staff, they all do a fantastic job to continually provide a kind, loving and safe environment.

My mother-in-law has lived at this home for over two years and has been very well cared for. The manager is excellent and genuinely cares about the residents and is constantly looking to improve things for them. The staff team remains consistent and the activity staff are constantly striving to introduce
new and stimulating activities. This has of course been impeded by Covid but as restrictions are lifting they will be able to get back to a wider variety of activities. The communication about my mother-in-law's welfare has always been very good.

I worried a great deal about Mum going in to care with dementia. She has been at Abbotsleigh now for over two years and I have been very impressed with the care she has received. The leadership has been consistent, clear, transparent, and firmly based on the well-being of the residents. All the staff
are patient, attentive, and caring and there seems to be a low turnover of staff which is good for residents. The nurses are excellent and the food is great. Mum has settled very well. I would recommend this home to anyone.

My mother was discharged from hospital into Abbotsleigh's care in February 2021, where she remained until she passed away in September. She received wonderful care, and as a family, we felt supported and involved in all aspects of her care. It's been a difficult year for everyone, but staff and management
coped admirably with all the extra work surrounding family visits once the covid restrictions were eased. We thank everyone at Abbotsleigh for looking after my mother, keeping her happy and safe, and for all the support they have given us.

My dad has been a resident at Abbotsleigh Care Centre for many years, I couldn't be more pleased with the care he receives, the staff are all so professional and pleasant. Despite the fact that he requires total care, his appearance is maintained to a high standard and he always looks happy and is treated

Mum has been a resident at Abbotsleigh Care Home for the past three years until her passing in March 2021. We couldn't have wished for a more friendly and atmospheric place for her to spend her final years. All the staff from the manager downwards were all very friendly and very caring in every way.

My mum has only been at Abbotsleigh for one month. The first 14 days were difficult due to the COVID isolation requirement. However, since that point, she has become a much happier person. The staff give her plenty of attention and time and she enjoys their company as well as making new friends. All
the staff appear to be conscientious and happy. Nothing is ever a problem.

This home has been good for my wife and myself. Since 2019 when I was coming at any time, the lockdown is very hard and it's unpleasant to get by with communication. She is blind. This home is tops in all care.

My husband was transferred from hospital to Abbotsleigh at the end of February suffering from a progressive neurological condition. He sadly passed away in September.
Our family are so thankful to the staff at Abbotsleigh, they are an amazing dedicated team. He was cared for with such kindness respect

My mother was moved to Abbotsleigh after being discharged from hospital, having had numerous falls at home and looking very frail and thin. I was a bit apprehensive about her going into a care home because of the Covid-19 pandemic but I need not have worried because her care has been second to none
and they have not had one case of Coronavirus. She has now been there for five months and she is very happy. She has put on weight and enjoys taking part in the numerous activities that they arrange for the residents and especially enjoys the singing. The staff are so lovely and caring and on her birthday we sat outside enjoying the sun and the staff came out with a cake and sang Happy Birthday to her, it was such a lovely gesture and I believe they do the same for all the residents on their birthdays. My brother and I would like to thank you all for looking after her so well especially at this difficult time. Our review of the room is taken from my mother as we have not been inside.

Mum has been here for a year now, at first, she was able to join in the activities, but due to age, illness and dementia, she is now bedridden. Due to COVID, we are unable to visit, but we can Skype and talk to her. Often she just looks confused, but her carer is so lovely, she makes sure her hair is
done and helps her to wave or blow a kiss. She also reads mum her post and prints out emails they get from her children and grandchildren. These, if photos are put on her bedroom wall for mum to look at. Mum sleeps a lot now, it’s not ideal that we can’t visit, but this home has been COVID free, and therefore, all the residents have been kept safe. All the staff are really pleasant, it’s like talking to friends, and I know that mum is in a safe environment.

"Hello, my name is Alina Abagiu and I’m the Manager at Abbotsleigh Care Home in Kent, Staplehurst. We are a Dementia and Nursing Care Home in Kent, Staplehurst and we would like to invite you to pay us a visit. Our Care Home is a beautiful building, combining ‘old’ character with newly refurbished facilities. Abbotsleigh is set among lovely, landscaped surroundings – an altogether peaceful, and tranquil Care Home.


Our care team are passionate about supporting our residents with all levels of Dementia and Nursing needs through person-centred care and personalised care plans. We have 59 single rooms in our Care Home – the majority of which have en-suite facilities. Having recently undergone extensive refurbishments in recent years, they are spacious, bright and airy, with pleasant picturesque all-round views.


Abbotsleigh Care Home has two units – Red Admiral with 29 beds and the upper floor Holly Blue with 30 beds. We also have a Sensory and Stimulation Room that is used by the Health and Well-Being team alongside our fantastic Life Experience Coordinators. We encourage the families of our residents in our Home to personalise their rooms with familiar belongings to create a ‘home-from-home’ environment, enabling their independence.


The Home has two main dining areas and two main lounges. There is also an Atrium that can be facilitated to families and or visitors to have a more “private” time with their loved ones.


We actively encourage residents and their families to become involved in the decisions surrounding their care in our Home. This helps us meet their needs through individualised care plans which are continually adjusted as personal care needs change. The care teams in our Home are all experienced in managing the care needs of many health and social care issues and we liaise with a large network of other healthcare professionals. We welcome families and friends to visit us at any time and we encourage open communication."
