Ashley Gardens provides specialist care for people living with dementia and has excellent facilities to accommodate those specialist needs. Ashley Gardens offers a full sensory room, tailored reminiscence activities and specialist dietary needs catered for.

Located just a short bus ride away from the bustling town centre, Ashley Gardens is close to local amenities and attractions such as Leeds Castle and Mote Park. The home is within easy reach of local shops and major routes such as the M2, M20 and A229, allowing accessible visits from family members and friends.

With activities varying from Live tours of landmarks, Café/pub (real life setups), ice cream van visits or Bingo, Ashley Garden always has lots for residents to engage with. Equally, activities are also tailored towards individual needs and wishes for those that enjoy activities on a more one-to-one basis.

Accommodation is arranged over three floors offering 89 bedrooms that are able to be personalised to each resident’s wishes. Rooms come fully furnished, ready for residents to personalise and make them their own. Equally, the home encourages residents to bring their own furniture to make their room feel like a home-from home, should they wish to.

Ashley Court has a passionate and long-standing team (many of whom have been at the home for 5-10 years) and has a reputable long-standing relationship with the wider community.

Mum has been in this home for over 2 years. I think she is as happy as she can be. Although there is nothing like being in your own home, she has her own room. Activities are most afternoons and they range from dog racing on the TV, bingo, art and craft to singers. There is also a little shop to buy
things, a quiet room, a remembrance room with an old wireless and war memorabilia in it. Staff and management are very patient and kind most of the time. I feel Mum and Mum's family are lucky she is here. They also have a room to hold little functions in.

Ashley Gardens seem to be a well-run nursing home. The staff do their utmost to care for the residents. There are occasions where it takes longer than it should to respond to the resident's buzzers and the night staff seem to be a bit sparse. That said, Ashley Gardens is always clean and has a good
atmosphere.

I have been extremely impressed by Ashley Gardens Care Centre. Dad can be difficult but they seem to know just how to deal with him in a very professional but kind and caring way. All members of staff (including admin) know who he is and will pop up to see him if needs be. I cannot rate the care home
highly enough. It is an extremely well-run home.

Prior to joining Healthcare Homes in 2016, Wesley was a head chef.

He believes you need to be a good communicator, be part of a team, lead by example and be personally driven to succeed in your role.


The favourite part of his working day is when at the end of the day you can be proud of what you have achieved as a team. To recognise individual performances and give praise.


His biggest professional challenge in his career to date was taking over a restaurant which was poorly performing. Customer satisfaction was low and sales decreased along with targets and budgets not being met. Within 12 months sales increased with customer returns continuing to grow. Budgets and targets were being hit and audits were above 95%. Wesley's biggest career highlight to date was being promoted to a flagship restaurant which had yearly sales of £400,000


What qualities do you think make a good home manager?


Wesley enjoys spending a lot of time with his children who always brighten up his day; time at the park and doing activities with them. He also enjoys watching most sports.


His ambition is to become more senior within the Healthcare Homes Group. To oversee the kitchens within and to have an active part in achieving great standards and quality presented food for all our resident's needs.
