Barty House Nursing Home offers first-rate nursing care in Bearsted, Kent.

CQC has rated the home as 'good' overall and 'outstanding' for 'responsive', thanks to an ‘innovative approach' to meeting people’s needs to ensure the best possible quality of life (January 2019).

Accommodated in an impressive Georgian listed building, combined with modern, purpose-built facilities and surrounded by extensive gardens, the home offers a high standard of care for up to 59 residents, delivered with empathy, compassion and dignity. The bright, spacious bedrooms in the contemporary extension have ensuite wetrooms and many enjoy direct access to the courtyard garden and views over the grounds.

The characterful rooms in the older part of the building come in various sizes, and some also have ensuite facilities. Their traditional windows overlook different aspects of the garden, offering captivating views at any time of year.

Nursing and care staff are on hand 24/7, supported by the dedicated administration, facilities and housekeeping teams, while the activities staff provide a daily programme of interesting and varied activities.

The communal areas, including the glass-fronted Willow Lounge which overlooks the Kent countryside, are designed to provide comfortable spaces to socialise with guests or other residents.

The grounds surrounding the house include traditional English gardens at the front and a wheelchair-accessible courtyard area at the centre of the new building. The gardens are inhabited by rabbits and many types of birds, so there is always something interesting to look at!

My Dad became a resident at Barty House Nursing Home in late July and sadly passed away in early September.
During that time he was looked after and nursed with care, kindness and respect. He made new friends and spent happy times with other residents on the lovely veranda overlooking the garden. The
team at Barty House made us welcome, never treated us as an inconvenience, and did all they could to make daily visits a success.
At the end he was treated with dignity and we were offered every kindness. We could not have asked for more.

The home is bright, airy and clean. Have found the staff to be very approachable, friendly and helpful and the care of the residents is excellent, with lots of interaction and activities. Feedback is very good and any concerns or queries are dealt with promptly.

My dad moved in at the end of March. The majority of staff are very friendly and go out their way to do anything they can for my dad and for his family. There are lots of activities that residents are encouraged to join in. So far we are very happy with the experienced dad has had. Thank you to all

The staff and team, including management, nurses, carers, admin, activities, laundry and catering have all gone out of their way to help dad settle into Barty House Nursing home. It has been a difficult year for him and they have shown nothing but kindness towards him. There is a lovely conservatory
for him to sit in if he chooses and activities every afternoon for him to join in. Would recommend.

Significant reduction in quality of care over the last two years. Staff seem unhappy and unmotivated, too reactive in terms of care and support instead of proactive. My father is now bed-bound and covered in pressure sores and additional complications that did not exist before his stay. Currently exploring
moving him to a safer environment.

My mum was a resident at Barty House from October 2020 until February 2021. The care she received was amazing; I couldn't have asked for more. The staff at Barty House became like a second family to me and Mum and supported us very well through a very difficult time. The home is spotlessly clean, warm
and friendly with lovely outdoor facilities. I would definitely recommend.

Mum was moved from our local hospice to Barty House Nursing Home as she no longer felt safe at home, even with carers. All the staff at Barty House treated her with respect, dignity and compassion. Despite her health declining she developed a new lease of life, enjoyed the social interactions (despite
COVID!) and was well cared for. Although visiting was sometimes restricted, myself and my sisters felt comfortable that Mum was safe and happy.

My cousin was in Barty House for over 3 years until she passed away in January this year. She settled in quickly and her care from everyone there was wonderful. We regularly went in to see her and she was always happy. Her health improved so much that she was able to enjoy the last years of her life.
We are so grateful for everything that was done for her during this time.

I would like to thank everybody for the help and kindness afforded to my aunty. Everybody was very helpful and assisted my aunt in all her needs. Excellent.
Her room was always clean and the staff always answered our

The kindness towards my mum by all members of staff was above and beyond my expectations, she was well looked after and treated with great respect. Everything that could be done to help her through a difficult part of her life was done to make sure she was comfortable and happy. I would be happy to

Our lovely Dad came to Barty House in June from hospital and was intending to get his strength up so that he could visit his wife who he hadn't seen for 9 months in the Dementia Care home opposite. Sadly this never happened, he passed away peacefully four weeks ago. We cannot thank the lovely staff
enough for the care, kindness and support shown to Dad and to us. Nothing was too much trouble, all questions were answered, we were encouraged to be with Dad during his last week. It was heartwarming to speak to staff at a time that was very difficult for us and they always had time for us. Dad was cared for with dignity and kindness right until his end, thank you all so very much.

Mum was transferred to Barty House from hospital as she was too unwell to go home. On arriving there, I can't fault the care mum received. The staff were so friendly and the care mum received was excellent. We wish she had more time with them as she was starting to settle and was looking forward to
lockdown lifting so we could get in to see her. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be, as mum passed away. But in the short time she was there she was made to feel part of their family and we will be eternally grateful to them for making her last few days happy ones. A massive thank you to you all.

My nan went into hospital the beginning of Dec 19 after becoming very poorly due to cancer. She moved into Barty House on the 19th of Dec 19. We couldn’t have chosen my nan a more friendly, homely, caring nursing home. We were allowed to come the day before she was due to move in so we could make her
room feel like her very own home. From the very start, my nan loved every minute that she spent here. She would always praise all the nurses and staff on how caring and amazing each and every one of them were. My nan wasn’t just a patient to them she was a friend and when we couldn’t be there the nurses were like another family to her and always kept us up to date. My nan sadly passed away during the lockdown so it made it so much harder for us but the nursing home dealt with it amazingly and phoned us when my nan had turned for the worst so was able to be with her for her last few moments. Thank you for making our Nans last few memories memorable and happy. Enjoy the coffee machine and gifts!

My mother spent the final four months of her life at Barty House. She had spent 5 years alone after my father passed away. Those four months were great for mum; the care, support and activities made such a difference. She was not lonely, the staff were so kind and lovely. The activities varied, outings
were arranged which mum went on about 4 or 5 possibly more. Barty House has an in-house chef providing home-cooked food of a good standard. I cannot fault this care home and would recommend them as a safe and caring establishment.

My mum was transferred here from the hospital for end of life care. From the moment she was wheeled into Barty House via ambulance, it was clear from the way she was received and welcomed - she was important. The dignity, care and respect she was shown throughout her short 17-days was second to none
by all the staff, nurses, carers, reception, cleaners etc. The reassurance, support and care offered to the family was also brilliant. Thank you, and God Bless you all.

My mother came to Barty House in October 2019 from hospital as a palliative care patient. She quickly settled in and made a marked recovery for several months. She was treated as an important member of the Barty House community. She thoroughly enjoyed the activities particularly the Oomph trips. The
entertainments officers work tirelessly to improve the quality of life of the residents. Sadly, she passed away today (06/03/20).

My sister-in-law was at Barty House for three months for palliative care. She was well looked after and treated with dignity and respect. The staff were all friendly and helpful to the family and the nursing care received was excellent. In my sister-in-law's final days, the staff were incredibly supportive
and the care received was outstanding.

My father's health had been declining and he was in the final stages of end of life care. He came into Barty House for two weeks respite to give Mum a bit of a break as she is in her 80s. From the moment that we first visited as soon as you walk into reception, there is a warm, friendly feel that is
welcoming. We had a tour on Sunday and the staff could not do enough to help. What stood out the most was the homely feeling and it didn't feel like a nursing home at all, more like a home from home. My father doesn't talk much, just thumbs up or down, but when I asked him if he had enjoyed his stay he gave it the thumbs up. I visited him most days - the room that he had was very well kept, very clean, with lovely, patio doors, which opened up to the garden area, bird feeders on the wall, and a nice garden. His daily routine was excellent and good, home-cooked food. The staff take time to communicate and listen. I would recommend Barty House 110% to anyone looking for a care home for their loved one.

My father was admitted to Barty House in December 2019 for end of life care. From the moment he arrived he felt completely comfortable and happy with his surroundings. He was very well looked after by all the staff who were very attentive and always happy and on-call to help 24/7. His care was impeccable.
The food was excellent and the staff went out of their way to make him comfortable. He was treated with dignity from the beginning to the very end.
