In February 2023, Eglantine Villa was rated ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC for the third time in a row.

Eglantine Villa, once a private residence, is a carefully converted home offering nursing, residential dementia care, respite, palliative, Parkinson’s and convalescence care.

The home is made up of two separate buildings (Jasmine House and Lavender House) and is set in three-and-a-half acres of beautiful gardens.

A homely interior is enhanced by the use of a sensory room, social activity room, conservatory and large secure gardens. En suite bedrooms are well-equipped to ensure residents feel safe and comfortable.

Balanced meals can be enjoyed in the dining room overlooking the gardens, or in the privacy of people’s own rooms. There are lighter alternatives available throughout the day and birthdays are celebrated with a personalised cake.

Eglantine Villa knows that popular activities and stimulating interactions are a vital part of good care. It can also be a good opportunity for friends and family to spend time with residents. Having something interesting going on every day is very important for a resident’s general well being, as it helps to keep their minds active and improves their appetite.

Friends and family are welcome to participate in any or all of the activities at any time. There is an on-site activity coordinator who organises a wide variety of activities for residents to enjoy, whatever their abilities.

There are seasonally themed monthly events as well as regular activities such as music and movement, film shows, and arts and crafts sessions. The home also looks forward to local community and charity events.

We moved my Mum in to Eglantine care home in 2025. I have to say it's the best decision we could have made. She is so happy there. The staff love her and she loves them. When we visit mum we are treated as part of the Eglantine family. Highly recommend them.

The standard of care was outstanding, dad was well cared for and happy. The home was always clean and smelt fresh. The residents were very well entertained with plenty of activities. Relatives were always welcome at any part of the day, and the staff were always friendly and welcoming. We could highly
recommend this home. There was always a variety of home-cooked food on the menu too.

Husband has been in this care home for 12 years. Over that period, care changed from good to moderate. In the last 2 years, you had the feeling that it was homely and more care given to residents. I understand it is not an easy profession and I am grateful.

We used the respite service for about 10 days for my mum, who has dementia, as we were going abroad. The staff were very friendly, they helped Mum settle in very quickly. They were very attentive to our queries and Mum's needs, this helped put our anxieties at ease. The staff were very professional
and pleasant at all times across the board.

Since being in Lavender Cottage my mum is the happiest I have seen her in a very long time. The staff treat her with respect and compassion. I am very grateful for the staff and that mum is able to live there. The staff know the relationship I have with my mum and are caring enough to help me with that. I find it hard to visit my mum even after just over a year since she joined the residents. She has made friends and enjoys the activities

My dear wife was a resident there for 18 months until she sadly passed away in June 2023. I cannot speak too highly of the staff that looked after and cared for her right up to the end. I cannot thank them enough for looking after her and knowing that she was happy there and knowing she was safe.

My friend is clearly happy and settled at Eglantine Villa, Lavender Cottage. It is very reassuring for her friends and family to know that she is surrounded by such caring and professional staff at every level. The food is of outstanding quality and thoroughly enjoyed! The activities provided are stimulating
and fun. There is a homely and optimistic atmosphere, which makes it a delightful home to visit. The beautiful grounds make a wonderful backdrop to view from the lounge and conservatory which is relaxing. I cannot recommend Eglantine Villa highly enough.

My Mum was taken into respite care for two weeks in February of this year. She has since become a permanent resident and I have to say that it is a relief for me knowing that my Mum is in excellent hands. As I live a few hour's drive from the home I was concerned that I would not be able to monitor
my Mum. However, I am able to keep an eye on her from a distance via the Gateway system which gives me updates on my Mum and it has reassured me that my brother and I have 100% done the right thing having my Mum placed in the home. Since she has been there she has become engaged in lots of the activities in the home and all of her needs are being looked after. My Mum loves music and likes nothing better than to sing along with music and she appears to be settling into the environment well. She appears to be happy and content and that is all that we could wish for. I cannot thank all of the staff at the home for making this very difficult decision easier for us.

My Uncle moved into Eglantine Villa after a stay in hospital. At the same time, my Aunt became ill and wasn’t able to look after him with his additional needs.
The staff are excellent, they really look after him. Nothing is too much trouble.
They have made it so much easier for him to accept living
in a home.
The food is all freshly cooked and is excellent.
The grounds are well maintained and when it gets warmer we will be able to take him for a walk in our wheelchair as he has always loved to do gardening.
The Bupa relatives gateway is great for keeping updated.
The nursing staff keep us informed of any changes.
We looked at other homes in the area and this is definitely the best.

My dad was in Eglantine Villa since 2017, the carers showed my dad lots of love and care, my dad was quite a noisy character and enjoyed fun and banter which he got with the staff. They also managed him when his behaviour was challenging. I am very grateful and pleased that my dad spent his last few

Relief after a rough start in another care home! We were blown away by the compassion and empathy my dear old dad received on his arrival. We would say this home is exceptional and would highly recommend it to anyone who is currently looking. (I have even said to my husband should I ever need to be
placed in care, please put me here!).
It has a home-from-home atmosphere, and the day staff go above and beyond to deliver outstanding service. Even though his stay was short, he had already started to call it his 'Villa'.
Sadly Dad passed not so long ago, but we know it was the best decision made, and he got the best care.

My father moved to Eglantine Villa in January 2023. He sadly suffered a stroke in December 2020, was in hospital in 2021 and in a nursing home in 2022. Sadly, due to the lack of care he received in the nursing home he had a steep decline in his very limited mental and physical capabilities. The move
to Eglantine Villa has been such a smooth transition, the care is extremely attentive and he is very well looked after. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are well-kept. The staff are all very friendly and engaging and you can tell they care a lot about their job. My dad has started to engage in conversation for the first time in several months, he seems brighter and happier. The staff care a lot about residents engaging with other residents and they have taken the time to get to know Dad and his interests. The food looks lovely, I'm sure dad is loving the 'midnight menu' that is provided! I can finally find peace in that he is in the best place for him.

Dad hasn't been at Eglantine for long, but in the short time he has been there, he has shown improvement following a year in a care home that didn't have the same level of care or facilities. The staff at Eglantine are brilliant, they make us feel so welcome as a family visiting our dad, and all seem
to genuinely care about the residents and make a point of getting to know them. The facilities are also great, with the home feeling modern, clean and homely, which is really nice.

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2012

Hello - my name is Bryony John and I am the home manager at Eglantine Villa. I started working for Bupa in 2012 as an admin assistant and then stepped up into a financial administrator role. Over the years I developed an interest in the different positions available with Bupa and found that I had a passion for care and how it can make a difference in people's lives.


Having gained experience I then took up a deputy manager role supporting a home caring for people with nursing needs. I became a home Manager in 2020 and now manage Eglantine Villa alongside a fantastic team of carers, nurses, heads of department and support staff.


My favourite part of my job is meeting new people, hearing residents' life stories, alleviating worry from families and watching how our residents can flourish in our care. I love that there is variety in every day and I genuinely look forward to coming to work every day, I would never do anything else.


Outside of work, I love travelling to new countries, spending time with my family, and friends, going out for walks and listening to music.
