The staff have been extremely helpful here with all my father's needs and care. He has been treated extremely well, his room is very clean and tidy. The food is excellent and there are always drinks. Very happy with every part of Gavin Astor houses. Thank you very much.

We moved my mum to Gavin Astor last month and cannot speak highly enough of the team and the care that she is receiving. Mum has settled in well and I have found the staff kind and caring without exception, the management team, nurses, carers, admin staff and housekeeping staff. I feel assured that
she is getting the best care possible and the staff keep me informed of any changes with mum. Her room is lovely and the facilities are beautiful. My family are welcomed when we visit and everyone is so friendly.

Based on the seven weeks that my mother has been in Gavin Astor, I can only say I am disappointed with her care. She needs help with her personal care as a dementia resident and this has been sadly lacking. The staff tell me that they cannot force her with help but when I find out that showers and washing
of hair have not been done during this duration, I find this extremely worrying. Surely a bit of extra firmness could help. I have had contact with the manager this end and she is arranging a meeting with staff. Hopefully, things will improve.

I can assure you that every attempt is made to carry out personal care. However, as you say the staff have reiterated that we can not force this upon an individual and we do try to encourage as much as possible. We agree it is worrying, but on the occasion that you are aware of, your mother did have an enjoyable bath experience. I can confirm that the manager has spoken to the staff about the importance of personal hygiene.

We moved my sister-in-law to Gavin Astor House on the 12th of April 2022. The arrangements for her relocation were made by the home and the move was faultless. Her room, the facilities and the little garden area are perfect, clean, modern and welcoming. The home is friendly, extremely clean and all

As the home has just been refurbished, everything looks good. The decor is very nice, especially the soft calming colour scheme. The feel when you enter is pleasant and the staff are very accommodating. Although it's taking my father a while to settle, I'm sure he'll be very happy and comfortable there.

Gavin Astor and its staff are an exemplar of what caring should be throughout the UK. The facilities are superb but they alone wouldn't have made Dad's experience so good. It is always the staff that makes a facility a "home", and the British Legion deliver this in spades. Although Dad has mobility
issues, he is mentally and physically as well as he was a few years ago - providing the family with a great degree of reassurance about his wellbeing and happiness.

My husband moved into Gavin Astor House Care Home in July 2021, he was welcomed to the home as if it were his family.

Both of my parents have recently moved into Gavin Astor as they could no longer live independently in their own home. Having lived independently in their own home for 68 years as a family we were all naturally anxious about them making the move. All of the Staff at Gavin Astor have made both my parents
very welcome and helped them settle relatively quickly into their new surroundings, having undertaken an assessment of their needs prior to the move have personalised their care for their different needs but importantly also allowing them to spend a lot of time together as a couple. The legacy of limited visiting because of COVID restrictions has been frustrating but there are signs that this is slowly improving. The areas of the home which have recently been refurbished look great and the rooms are bright, comfortable and well furnished assuming other areas are currently being refurbished and furnished to a similar standard it will be fantastic throughout when finished.

Both my parents have recently moved into Gavin Astor. Having different needs, finding somewhere to accommodate mum and dad was not an easy task. All the staff whether on the phone or in-person have provided us with professional support in a friendly and caring manner, through what has been a difficult
transition period not only for our parents but us as a family as well. During this time the home has also been going through its own refurbishment, the results of which are delightful. All the rooms we have seen are warmly decorated and inviting. I am pleased mum and dad report feeling settled and comfortable there already. Grateful thanks to all the staff for facilitating this.

Most of the food provided by an external company was reasonable. Soup is unappetising to me, with too many cut vegetables in it. In the early days, the roast beef was in fact stewing steak for casserole. The swede is tasteless, not having apparently been seasoned with salt or pepper. Simply tasteless.

Gavin Astor took Mum in after the hospital put Mum on end of life care. She had twelve more weeks, thanks to the care and compassion of the staff. Everything was done for her, to make her as comfortable and happy as possible. Special care was taken with her diet, as it was very restrictive, even her
desire for eggs and bacon was met with scrambled eggs and mushed bacon. Her eyes would light up when the nurses and carers came into the room, so we knew she was happy. She even managed jokes in her confused state. On the day Mum passed away, we the family were touched by the care and concern shown by all the staff. Gavin Astor staff all helped by using their knowledge and experience to guide us through. We thank them.
