Gloucester House is often described as "Sevenoaks' specialist Nursing Home". They deliver highly skilled nursing care and support to older people that need Nursing input with a kind and compassionate style that really sets them apart. Treating people with dignity and respect is an important part of the home's culture and the residents thrive in the positive environment.
With a well-appointed physio room and their own in-house physiotherapists, residents have the best possible chance to be rehabilitated, to recovery or to achieve improvement in their mobility or overall health.
The home is cleverly divided into 4 self-contained 12 bedded units, each with its own communal areas and quiet lounges, every bedroom is a good size, comfortable and comes with lovely en-suite wet rooms. The communal facilities include a hair salon, residents' pub, well-established gardens, accessible baths, library and physiotherapy rooms.
The manager and deputy are passionate about making sure the residents and their families are fully involved in the care their loved ones receive, they, after all, know more than anybody else ever will. They also ensure that their residents are central to every decision made in the home, because as the staff always say: "we are guests in their home"
Gloucester House is operated by Greensleeves Care, which is one of the most respected care charities in the whole country, in fact, they were named Which? "Best Care Charity" in 2018.

This is my dad's third nursing home because his first closed unexpectedly and the second was temporary. Both of the first two homes had very caring individual members of staff who did their job (which is a very difficult one) with dedication and kindness. But Gloucester House has a different mood. It
is a lively, upbeat, cheerful place and this very much impacts on my father's well being. This is a happy place, not a sad place.
My dad has his problems, and over the past couple of years had become immobile and depressed, and had largely refused to leave his room. At Gloucester House, he has responded to the lively atmosphere and the enthusiasm of the staff and is now as well as I have seen him for many years. He is mostly out of his room, laughs and jokes with me in the same way that he used to years ago, and has begun to stand and move a little on his own again. The transformation in the few weeks that he has been at Gloucester House has been remarkable.

During the two weeks my mother has been a resident in Gloucester House Nursing Home I have found the staff really pleasant and approachable. The food is excellent and the premises are clean and welcoming. My mother appears to be very happy and the transition from hospital to Gloucester House Nursing
Home has been so easy due in no small way to the kind and caring attitude of all the staff.

I have been very pleased with the care given to my mother even though she was there only just under two months. She came from a hospital with bed sores and the home carers were very particular in healing these. They made sure she is clean and fed at least when she did not refuse. I did like the fact
they were not forcing her into anything especially because she already decided she had had enough of living and just want to go peacefully which in the end happened.
I would say all the permanent staff and most agency staff were very professional.
The communication between shifts could be improved and a couple of the agency staff obviously did not look at her notes, eg wanted to send her to a hospital when she expressly noted she wanted no interference. This was documented in the Care Plan. The management of the home did deal with this appropriately.

Gloucester House has recently improved in many ways, all of which appear to be driven from the top. Care planning and monitoring of delivery have improved. Morale appears better and the staff more motivated and caring. My Mum's gradual deterioration had gone somewhat unnoticed but I am now more confident
that measures are in place to deal with this seemingly inevitable process. She is now very slow to respond to questions (it can be minutes and need several prompts) so it is important that staff wait for a reply where possible, please. The food appears to be good (though the means to keep it hot until the last deliveries would be welcomed). I look forward to continuous improvements. Well done.

My mother spent 2 1/2 years in the loving care of Gloucester House. Very happy and content throughout that time, she appreciated the food, entertainment and excellent staff attention.
It was her families dearest wish that she should not have to be moved prior to her death and fortunately, that proved
to be the case.

My mother was in Greensleeves Gloucester House for 2 1/2 years. During that time a great deal of money was being spent on the home to be caring, friendly, good atmosphere. The staff treated my mother with dignity and she often mentioned that she was contented. The activities were varied. My mother was
taken for a day to the zoo and enjoyed the week devoted to summer holidays, donkeys visited, Punch and Judy, ice creams - excellent.

Over the past two and a half years my mother has experienced nothing but kindness, thoughtfulness and love. She has been very happ6y. Despite her dementia, she has had many wonderful experiences including a trip to the Zoo. The staff have also been very kind and thoughtful to the family.

Finding Gloucester House was a breath of fresh air. As soon as you walk through the door you know you are somewhere special. It is a convivial home from home. The staff are all very caring, competent and simply have the most fantastic attitude both for care of the residents and the visiting families
too. I truly feel that my father is content, cared for and entertained when in residence while I have found all the staff enormously supportive. My father also loves his food which is of a very high standard with varied menus. Altogether simply the best care home I have ever visited.

We chose Gloucester House because of the warm welcome we received when we first viewed and the assurance that the best quality care would be given to my mum. I have not been disappointed in fact it's far exceeded my expectations. The staff are professional, warm and caring. My mum is happy, safe and
well looked after. The management team is fully approachable and dedicated. I would recommend Gloucester House. Well done team.

Many thanks to everyone at Gloucester House for all the efforts they have made to look after my 84-year old mother, a dementia sufferer who now has very limited movement.

Since her arrival three months ago the staff and management have made my mother and me very welcome.

They soon got to know

her as an individual, finding out about her life, her likes and dislikes, and built their relationships with her on that basis, something my mother clearly appreciates.

I was also impressed by how quickly they responded to any issues I raised as they assessed her care and nursing requirements. They listened carefully to what I had to say and worked hard to deliver on what we had agreed needed to be done.

As a result, the transition from a residential care home to a care home with nursing has been a much more positive experience for my mother than I feared it would be.

Sometimes a few of the staff could do more to help, while staff are waiting to pick up the food they are handling their long hair. My thoughts are that their hair should be tied back from their face. I must say it's only a few of them, but apart from that, they do a good job.

Thank you for your review. I have been aware of this and as a result, this has been actioned. Staff have now all read and signed the personal appearance policy and we are working closely with staff to manage this.

My Father has been a resident at Gloucester House for 3 years and we have been really happy with all aspects. Most importantly, the staff who are brilliant, friendly and genuinely caring. My Father has been really happy living there, being well cared for and treated with respect.

The team at Gloucester House appreciates feedback as we understand this is how we can improve on services. This feedback is very positive and encouraging. We are soon having an extensive refurbishment of the ground floor rooms and communal areas and this will hopefully reflect the score in the near future.

My husband had advanced Parkinsons and Lewy Body Dementia which is very challenging.
The carers and nurses were brilliant with him and were so friendly.
The nursing was very professional and supportive and when end of life came in they helped me make some very difficult decisions and were very supportive.
Their
care of my husband showed compassion and respect and the carers became my friends as well.
I can't think of a better place for my husband to have ended his days.
So much so I have signed up as a volunteer for the home, visiting people who never have any visitors as I feel so at home there.

I have experienced 3 previous care homes - two twice - and I can say with honesty and sincerity that Gloucester House is quite outstanding in every single way. I cannot fault the care, warmth and professionalism of every single member of staff here. They have made my life and my Husband's life livable
and meaningful once more. I come and go with a smile on my face - always. Thank you Gloucester House.

My mother has stayed at Gloucester House on a couple of occasions this year for respite, we call it on holiday for her and that is exactly what it is. All the staff make my mother feel very welcome. The care is excellent, safe surroundings with lovely food and lots of activities and people to talk to.
At the end of her holiday, she does not want to come home. I would definitely recommend this home.

A generally good experience with a high standard of care provided. Food sometimes poor and cleanliness can be shoddy at weekends.

Lots of activities organised and well led. Building works have been an issue and the plan for the remainder of the refurbishment is awaited.

Interested to see if the

move to electronic care plans helps with efficiency. Nursing staff are good. Communications generally good and resident/family/staff meetings are useful.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (8.969)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (8.969) out of 10 for Gloucester House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.621 for Gloucester House is calculated as follows: ( (60 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 87 Ratings = 4.621

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.348 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Gloucester House is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 54 registered maximum number of service users is 10.8. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.8 = 0.648

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
