Gloucester House is often described as "Sevenoaks' specialist Nursing Home". They deliver highly skilled nursing care and support to older people that need Nursing input with a kind and compassionate style that really sets them apart. Treating people with dignity and respect is an important part of the home's culture and the residents thrive in the positive environment.
With a well-appointed physio room and their own in-house physiotherapists, residents have the best possible chance to be rehabilitated, to recovery or to achieve improvement in their mobility or overall health.
The home is cleverly divided into 4 self-contained 12 bedded units, each with its own communal areas and quiet lounges, every bedroom is a good size, comfortable and comes with lovely en-suite wet rooms. The communal facilities include a hair salon, residents' pub, well-established gardens, accessible baths, library and physiotherapy rooms.
The manager and deputy are passionate about making sure the residents and their families are fully involved in the care their loved ones receive, they, after all, know more than anybody else ever will. They also ensure that their residents are central to every decision made in the home, because as the staff always say: "we are guests in their home"
Gloucester House is operated by Greensleeves Care, which is one of the most respected care charities in the whole country, in fact, they were named Which? "Best Care Charity" in 2018.

Mum has been a resident for 18 months and I am still very content that I chose Gloucester House. Arranging for the long-term care of a close relative is or can be an emotional minefield, but for the most part, have encountered nothing to worry about. There is a sense of welcome and community as you
enter the home and the staff deal with the residents professionally, with dignity and huge kindness.

Gloucester House has a very friendly, homely feeling about it. All the staff get to know each and every resident well, which helps them to settle quickly and feel happy there.

My mother moved into Gloucester House three and a half years ago and has been extremely happy there. They have just been accredited for the 'Eden Alternative', a scheme which aims to banish boredom and stimulate well-being through activities of interest to the individual resident.
This has proved very
successful and stimulating and of great benefit to residents as individuals. A very caring and happy place to be.

The staff were so friendly in welcoming my mum into the home. Their support made the transition from home to nursing home easier for mum and all the family to cope with.
I cannot praise enough, their overwhelming love and commitment to the well being of the residents who they care for.
Since she has
settled, Mum has enjoyed many of the activities and always comments how wonderful the food is.
I couldn't have asked for greater care than Mum is receiving since she moved into Gloucester House.

My mum moved to Gloucester House two years ago after losing her husband and with her own health deteriorating. The process of moving in was dealt with great kindness and support to me and my family. I wished I had moved my mum sooner, as she has improved greatly with all the care she receives from
everyone - not only the care staff, the kitchen staff, reception and the wonderful management team.
There are always activities going on and they always encourage Mum to join in. This week they have a holiday theme and Mum has enjoyed the Punch and Judy Show, along with meeting donkeys!
There is a great choice of food, which is served in the very homely dining room. The rooms are kept very clean and tidy and the laundry is always back in her room within a day.
I have recommended Gloucester House to my friend for her mum and she is moving in next week!

I find all the staff very polite and caring to all our needs which is not an easy job. They must have a difficult time managing so many different types of people.

My husband has Alzheimer's disease. He spent 2 years in Gloucester House. I visited every day and never saw anything I didn't approve of. He was treated with dignity and I believe the staff loved him - treating him always with love right until his death. I have been so grateful to Gloucester House for
caring for him so well. Many thanks to all the staff.

My husband has Alzheimer's. He was in Gloucester House for nearly three years. We chose Gloucester House because is has a friendly, caring, homely atmosphere. During his time there it became like a second home for his family. The staff from the office, to the kitchen, carers, nurses, gardeners, activities
organiser etc all were kind, friendly, supportive and caring. I felt my husband had excellent care at all times and especially in his last few weeks. I thoroughly recommend it.

My father was a resident at Gloucester House for three years. Throughout this time the care for not only him but myself and my mother was faultless. The staff were incredible and nothing was ever an issue. Until he passed they cared for him in an exceptional manner. They have continued to support us
and my mother until this day. We can never repay them.

My mother has been at Gloucester House for 5 years. The level of care has always been very good and in particular delivered by a core of employees who have worked there for some time. The recent purchase of GH by Greensleeves had added an extra dimension to the home with the injection of new money and
new, more dynamic ideas to improve the quality of care even further. Other highlights are the lunches, the garden and the management of Greensleeves who listen, are consultative and dedicated to the business of caring.

My husband spent seven months at Gloucester House and died there on 6th September 2015. He required total nursing care in the last months of his life. This was given to him in a caring and compassionate way. There is a friendly, informal attitude to residents and they are treated as individuals with
dignity. For the last two weeks of his life he was given excellent palliative care by the nursing and care staff. I was able to visit at any time and stay with him as much as I wanted. Thank you

Current Review Score: 9.0 (8.969)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (8.969) out of 10 for Gloucester House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.621 for Gloucester House is calculated as follows: ( (60 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 87 Ratings = 4.621

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.348 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Gloucester House is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 54 registered maximum number of service users is 10.8. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.8 = 0.648

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
