I can't praise the Halliwell enough over their handling of every aspect of the home during the Coronavirus.
It's been hard and upsetting at times to not be able to see our loved ones, but have been reassured that they are in the very best environment for their needs.
There have been weekly newsletters
to keep us in the loop of what is happening within the home.
Well done to the whole team, but especially to the manager for leading her team through unprecedented times.

My mother has been a resident since June 2016 and has had excellent care since arriving. I am absolutely stunned at the care and attention received for the whole home over the COVID-19 pandemic. The Halliwell Nursing Home is an example to be held out to all other homes. They have frankly been ahead
of the game in this whole pandemic and it has been a huge relief to know that she is there and well cared for (even though we hadn't been able to see/speak to her (she can't) for a few weeks). A small sacrifice to make for your family's wellbeing.
So this is the place to be if you want your family looked after at a different level. Also (particularly for me), they have supported me so well because my mother's circumstances were frankly horrific. And I'm sure I have come out of both her accident and COVID-19 a much stronger person, thanks to this support.
Well done Halliwell.

My wife went to Halliwell Care Home with a severe bedsore for palliative care. This was treated immediately, and throughout the ten days she was there she was looked after with the utmost care, dignity and compassion. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff who looked after her to her death.

My friend who had a debilitating and progressive illness came to live at Halliwell about 4 years ago. It soon became apparent that she had made an excellent choice. She settled amazingly quickly, due to the lovely welcome and wonderful care given by all the staff. My friend had always enjoyed scrabble,
Halliwell enabled our weekly slot to continue which gave much pleasure. We too enjoyed the Halliwell welcome, which is everywhere and starts when you come in the front door. Halliwell nurtured my friend's many talents. Who could forget the pantomime that she wrote and produced one Christmas? A unique Cinderella with a side nod to the Seven Dwarfs! Sadly my friend's condition deteriorated and she passed away this week. It was so good that she was able to remain at Halliwell in her final days, she was cared for in familiar surroundings by the nurses and carers who had become her friends.

It's difficult to describe just how enjoyable my stay in Halliwell was. The building and surrounding gardens are very attractive and enhance the visit but it is the lovely staff that makes ones whole stay a joy. The care, yes but the warmth and friendliness, that so exceed just the care. I've had a
happy, happy time and look forward to returning in September. Thank you one and all.

Due to being unable to cope at home after being discharged from hospital, I stayed at the Halliwell for three weeks having suffered a fractured pelvis in a road accident.
I was on crutches and could not carry anything at all or prepare food. It was just what I needed and provided me with all my meals
in a secure, welcoming and professional environment.
Qualified, friendly staff were there whenever I needed any help and advice and there was a visiting GP which was also very beneficial.
Despite being about 25 years younger than most of the other residents, I enjoyed my stay immensely, with other added benefits, such as free wifi, Freeview TV and various in-house activities, such as seated exercise, film shows, flower arranging, quizzes and much more.
I would highly recommend this home for anyone needing respite, residential or end of life care. Their person-centred approach means that each resident receives exactly the right amount of care, attention and treatment they need.

My mother was admitted on 17th April 2019 and passed away peacefully on the 26th April 2019 after the most wonderful, compassionate and dedicated care. My mother had her mental faculties until the last. She was pain-free and was surrounded by her 3 daughters every day that she was in Halliwell Care
Home. The kindness given to my mother and to me and my sisters was exemplary.

This review relates to the second fortnight my wife and self have indulged in at Halliwell.
I would not use the term 'dignity' to summarise the staff treatment - words such as 'friendly', 'respectful' are willingly given.
Room service at all hours was most cheerfully maintained.
The setting in which
Halliwell is set - and maintained - adds to the experience. Occasional visits from deer and foxes add interest.

My mother spent the last 15 months of her life at the Halliwell. The compassion, care and attention to detail was exemplary, particularly in her last days. I arrived in the dark having been discharged from a hospital stay for chemotherapy. I was greeted by bright new flower arrangements, a spacious reception hall, with beautiful copies of French Impressionist paintings. Everywhere was light and bright. My room was welcoming, with an ensuite W.C and basin
and plenty of storage space for a short stay. I discovered that a friend from my church was in the next room and over the next few days, I met some more residents and enjoyed the excellent food in the dining room. The nursing staff are all very kind and reliable and the carers very helpful too. I hope to come back for another break one day.

I am from America and many of my elder relatives have 'retired' to retirement communities there.
I have never experienced the kind of service and actual elegance of Halliwell in any other retirement community.

My mother went into Halliwell, initially for respite but after only a few days she knew she wanted to stay there permanently. Everything about it is first class and this is undoubtedly due to the professionalism of the management. The home is in a lovely setting, is clean and the care is first class.
Knowing that she has all that she needs is such a relief to her family and we love visiting her. I would recommend Halliwell to anyone looking for care for their loved ones.

Our mother entered Halliwell in July 2018 and stayed until her death in November. Throughout her stay, the care offered was exemplary and we could not be more delighted with the care she received. She came in with many sores acquired during a long stay in hospital and Halliwell managed to heal them
and give her much more comfort. She was often distressed and unhappy after her sudden illness and decline and the staff showed immense patience and compassion. We also felt involved in mum's care and supported ourselves through a very difficult time.
The standard of the rooms, facilities and catering were all excellent and there seemed to be very good activities going on all the time.

When my mother moved into the Halliwell, she knew she was at the end of life and that she would not return home. This difficult time was made easier by the wonderful care and consideration shown to her by all the staff. As a regular visitor, I was made to feel at home. From cleaning staff to waiters,
gardeners, care assistants, nurses and managers, I always received a warm welcome. For Mummy and all the family, it was home from home. The experience of the staff and their readiness to listen at difficult moments made the unbearable bearable. Thank you.

The Halliwell Care Home was an amazing, caring place for my sister’s end of life care. From the first visit we made to when my sister passed away two weeks later, the staff were always wonderful. Each time we visited, we were impressed by the warm and friendly atmosphere and the cleanliness of this
comfortable care home. All staff from manager, reception, nurses, carers, catering, etc were all very passionate about their jobs and the care home and I can honestly say it shone through each day. My sister’s needs were met with dignity from day one and their support and care for us was always there when needed. As her health deteriorated, it was a great comfort to know my sister was always shown kindness and respect. Unfortunately she was too ill to partake in activities provided and didn’t eat much but we were able to book a meal when we wanted one and all food was enjoyable and menus varied daily. The lovely garden was also a joy to wander in and contemplate matters in private when needed.

My husband went into the Halliwell initially for respite care following a haemorrhagic stroke which had left him unable to walk or stand with significant weakness on his left side.
I had hoped that he would then be able to come home but that was sadly not an option. The staff at the Halliwell cared
for him with such compassion, maintained his dignity and took interest in him as a person not only a patient, wonderful care.

My father was very happy at Halliwell despite having to leave his home where he had lived for over 50 years. I am sure the cheerful, expert and tender care shown by all the staff helped to settle him.
Whenever we telephoned to enquire after my father's health, especially when he was poorly, whoever
we spoke to, day staff and night staff alike, we were always impressed. Everyone knew exactly his situation and were able to give us reassuring updates. To give this kind of support requires a considerable amount of time and effort by the staff.
I would like to thank everyone at Halliwell who looked after my father, particularly in his last few hours. Their sensitivity and gentleness were exemplary for whilst he was completely aware of his rapidly declining health, he was reassured by the staff and hence felt no fear. The final moments were therefore very calm. Thank you for this and for all the many other kindnesses everyone has shown, not just to my father, but also to me and my family.
