Hazelwood Care Home, located in Longfield in the lovely north Kent countryside, is a purpose-built care home, dedicated to assisting residents in making the most of every day. Having opened in 2000 and renovated in 2019, Hazelwood is a modern home with two floors that have been specifically constructed to satisfy the needs of its residents.

Hazelwood Care Home offers residents exemplary standards of Dementia, Nursing, Residential and Respite Care. With a wide range of exceptional facilities, the home provides Dementia Care with nursing needs on the first floor in the Poppy Unit and general Nursing Care for elderly individuals on the ground floor in the Primrose Unit.

My Mother moved into Hazelwood Care Home in April 2022 following the onset of dementia and was a resident until March 2025, when she sadly passed away.
I cannot speak highly enough of the care and assistance that was provided to Mum by everyone at Hazelwood during her time at the Home, and the support
and consideration that was shown to us at the time of her passing, and would thoroughly recommend Hazelwood Care Home to anyone who is seeking a safe, happy and caring environment for their loved ones.

My mother came here six weeks after hip surgery and from her home of over 50 years and she was certainly worried about this upheaval. The manager and all and all of the staff have been so engaging and her room is comfortable and with pictures brought from her home. It's an environment where she is confident,
comfortable and being extremely well cared for.

Hazelwood Home treated our dad with the upmost respect, love and showed him every kindness every single day during his stay. Nothing was ever to much trouble for them and Dad was very happy and settled in his new surroundings!
Every single staff member chatted to him and made sure his every need was
catered for in a calm and safe environment. As a family we cant recommend Hazelwood Home highly enough they are amazing!

Wonderful care home. My mum has now been here for nearly 2 years with no problems, in fact, she is doing really well. She is always out of bed, clean and above all, very happy. The staff are amazing, kind and caring. I would recommend this home highly. Keep up the good work!

The staff at Hazelwood Care Home are so lovely to both my Mum and ourselves. They are always so kind and caring and nothing is too much trouble. They look after my Mum like she was a member of their own family. The activities Hazelwood puts on for the residents are always upbeat and engaging. The atmosphere
throughout the whole of the home from the minute you walk in is so positive. We cannot recommend this care home enough.

When my husband was first transferred to Hazelwood Care Home three years ago he was in a terrible state, but thanks to all the wonderful staff and their top level care he is now in a stable condition. He loves his new home, and our family have such a weight lifted off of us knowing that he's so happy
and well looked after. It really does feel like a home away from home. The new manager is lovely and has maintained the high standards Hazelwood is renowned for. It's a warm, nurturing environment, everyone's friendly and helpful, with lots of activities and events to keep the residents engaged. We're eternally grateful to all the staff and can't recommend the home enough!

We came to Hazelwood Care Home in a time of need a few days before Christmas, hoping for some respite care for our elderly father. After explaining to the manager our situation, she immediately took control and drove to my father's home to carry out an initial assessment and put everything into place
for him to come into care on Christmas Eve. Wonderful people, very caring, lovely and clean, great facilities. They were our saviours, we will be forever grateful. Thank you to all.

Mum was taken into Hazelwood in June 2023, suffering with severe dementia; her condition worsened such that she sadly passed away this month. During her time at Hazelwood, the staff have been truly amazing showing her every care and attention. The family have been made to feel very welcome, and equally
receive warmth on all our visits. As she started to slip away from us, the team made sure that she was comfortable and free from agitation and any pain, treating at all times with the dignity that each of us would expect. I cannot praise Hazelwood highly enough.

Mum has been at Hazlewood Care Home for three years now, I can honestly say she has been so well looked after. They gave her an amazing 100th birthday party. The bedrooms are always kept lovely and clean along with all the other areas within the home. They do so many lovely activities, always busy and
have lots of fun. All the staff work so hard and always look happy. They make you feel like one of the family. Keep up the good work.

The staff in this home always seem to have time for the people in their care. Nothing is too much trouble. The residents seem happy and are well looked after. My mother's health has improved since he has been in the home.

We recently celebrated my dad's 90th birthday at the home. They could not have done more to make the celebration any better by providing afternoon tea and a birthday cake for all the family. The staff made it a special day for us, many thanks.

Hazlewood is an amazing place.
Every person I met breathed and incarnated the word care. Here everyone cares, the atmosphere is simply lovely.
I can imagine no better place on earth for an elderly person.

Hazelwood Care Home provide a very caring and compassionate environment. My wife is treated with respect and she is well settled in the home since moving in October 2023. The home has been well-led. Staff are friendly and excellent activity support is given.
Family involvement is encouraged and welcomed.
We feel like a big family. I note my wife has early onset illnesses and a high level of support is required.

Mum has been at Hazelwood since March 2023, despite her deteriorating condition with dementia the level of care received at Hazelwood is a credit to all staff who have helped Mum settle into a very friendly home.
The staff are always cheerful, they build relationships with family members as well as
residents making it a pleasure to visit.
The daily range of stimulating activities is so important and because the team understand residents' needs they are all well catered for.
Food is varied and good quality, there is a private dining room should families wish to spend quality time with residents on special occasions.
Hazelwood have a good care plan with regular visits by doctors, hairdresser and chiropodist. Management encourage input from family and are always looking for ways to improve their service.
Mum benefits greatly from all the attention and as a son I know Mum is getting the best possible care. I would definitely recommend Hazelwood.

My husband settled in well straight away at Hazelwood. The manager is very kind and friendly. I am welcome to see my husband as often as I like and I'm encouraged to join in with various activities if I wish to. It's stimulating for my husband and makes his day more interesting. It often feels like
a club rather than a care home. He is very well looked after in regards to his medical welfare, which is very reassuring. All staff members are really caring and friendly.

From my very first visit I was struck by how lovely the home looked and how friendly, helpful and compassionate the people were at Hazelwood. Nothing was too much trouble and everything we asked for was provided. All the staff are wonderful with the residents and I see this time and again each time
I visit. My mum settled in immediately, which was a huge relief and she tells her family and friends that it is wonderful living there. When we visit, we are made to feel very welcome and can participate in the activities and become part of my mum's new life there. I would recommend it to anyone and in fact, I have told my own children that I would be very happy to live there myself if the time ever came. Thank you to the whole team for looking after my mum so well.

An amazing care home! All the staff are friendly, caring and supportive, they really go above and beyond. The manager is very personable and helpful, regularly checking in with residents and families, and continually striving to improve our experience - though Hazlewood is already in a league of its
own. My dad has been there nearly two years and he absolutely loves it, and we have no complaints at all. It’s a modern, clean building with a homely atmosphere, like one big family. The en-suite bedrooms are spacious and the food is great. There are lots of on-site facilities and a variety of activities for residents each week, as well as regular events that families can attend. The high level of person-centred care allows us to rest assured that my dad is safe, happy and well looked after. I honestly can't recommend it enough. I truly believe they have not only greatly improved his quality of life, they have extended it. We are so grateful for everyone at Hazlewood and all that they do.

My mum has been at Hazelwood now for over two years. During that time all the staff have always been kind, considerate and helpful to her and to me.
The cleanliness, facilities and food and drink have always been of the highest standard with no room for complaint. My mum's needs have never been too
big or too small to be fully addressed. My mum was slow to join at first but over time she has been encouraged and now enjoys activities. She regards Hazelwood as her home and that's what a care home should be 'a home',

Allison Pettican

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2024

I’ve had the privilege of managing care homes for 25 years, overseeing a range of care types including residential, nursing, dementia, mental health, palliative, complex, and learning disabilities care.


It’s an honour to care for residents at Hazelwood and support both their families and my dedicated staff team. Before becoming a Home Manager, I worked in various roles supporting vulnerable people and families. I take great pride in ensuring our residents receive high-quality care. Continuous learning and teamwork are essential in our field, and we strive to work together to provide the best possible care for your loved ones.


I’m proud to lead the team at Hazelwood and grateful for the ongoing support from residents, families, and professionals. I look forward to the many great moments ahead.

Anca Serban

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Anca has worked at Hazelwood as a Registered Nurse for just under 4 years and is now also our deputy manager. Anca has extensive experience, having worked for four years as a health care assistant looking after children with learning disabilities, as well as a health care assistant in the community and three years as a senior health care assistant in a residential home. Anca enjoys making a difference in her residents’ lives, helping and supporting them to ensure their needs are met, and seeing them smile.

Marlin has been a Registered Nurse at Hazelwood Care Home since 2021 having worked as a nurse in India for a year, as well as previously studying for a Master’s degree and working part-time as a care assistant in Ireland for 3 years.
