I have been overwhelmed by the friendly welcome, care and kindness shown to my husband and to me by all members of staff, that is prior to, and since his admission. Iden Manor Nursing Home is not only a wonderful and interesting building but it is also set in beautiful, peaceful surroundings, which
together with the caring staff, must be beneficial to patients' well-being and reassuring for friends and relatives. Although residents in The Good Shepherd secure wing for dementia patients, it is good to know that the main building and grounds are available to those residents when accompanied. The atmosphere of Iden Manor can be likened to that of a friendly, informal hotel or home. Even the mammoth problems of lack of water supply were overcome. Well done and thank you.

The care my father received at Iden Manor was in every way excellent. The staff treated him with dignity and engaged in such a kind and lovely way that left me deeply touched. They were always trying to keep him occupied, and we felt that he was safe and being well attended to.

Dad entered Iden Manor after losing his wife to cancer. He has had Parkinson's Disease for 20 years. The home welcomed him in during a difficult time with Covid raging and despite him being very agitated whilst settling in they treated him very kindly and professionally. They certainly know how to deal
with those suffering from Parkinson's and dementia. The manager is excellent.

I was admitted to Iden Manor late March 2020 having been transferred from hospital due to the virus and lack of beds. I spent appropriately 6 months at Iden recovering from being a drinker and a fall due to this which damaged my knees. The nursing staff and all the backroom staff who looked after me
couldn’t have been better, first-class all of them. At the end of August, it was time to go home. They all helped to get me off the drink which I so greatly appreciate from them and a route that I will never go down again now I have my life back. A very big thank you from me and my family for all the hard work you put in to save me. Mean that from the bottom of my heart. Many thanks.

My mother has been in Iden Manor since August 2019 and we have nothing but praise for the management and the staff there. Like many elderly people, my mother wasn't keen on going into a care home as she would have preferred to have stayed living independently. However, following two nasty falls and
two broken hips, it became clear that there was no other option for her. She has a nice room with ensuite facilities and mixes with the other residents during the day and during a range of laid on activities. She gets three meals a day plus cake and biscuits - together with lots of tea! She has made friends with other residents and feels safe - which of course is very important. The team have kept us informed of all the precautions they have taken relating to Covid-19, including regular testing of residents and staff. The home remains virus-free as I write this. I have no hesitation in recommending Iden Manor to anyone who needs a caring and good home for their elderly loved ones.

Our very dear friend was admitted to Iden Manor Nursing Home for end of life palliative care. We visited every day and during a very sad time both he and we were treated with the utmost sensitivity and kindness. For the brief time he rallied as symptoms were brought under control he was as happy as
he possibly could be, frequently praising the quality of the food, the surroundings and the amazing staff; all of whom showed him warmth, respect and thoughtfulness. At the end, he was not alone and was made very comfortable. His passing was peaceful as he would have wanted. We are extremely grateful to all at Iden Manor for the support and warmth shown to us all.

Overall I'm very happy for my mother to be a resident in Iden Manor Nursing Home. They keep me informed of issues and the nursing care is excellent. The staff are helpful and friendly. There is a good choice of food, quality and quantity both fine. The day room and her own room are both comfortable

My father spent 6 months at Iden Manor and I was a frequent visitor to the Good Shepherd unit where he lived. In that time I was able to take an objective view of the running of this care/nursing home. The overall management is excellent and I never found any of the staff with other than a very caring
and considerate attitude toward the residents. Facilities are good and there are regular activities in which residents are gently encouraged to participate. The home is secure and each of the staff are very attentive in the admission of visitors whilst ensuring doors are firmly locked on their departure. The cleaning is methodical and is to a high standard and I never found any cause for comment, let alone complaint, in any of my walkings through the home or in visits to my father’s room. I have no hesitation in recommending Iden Manor as a Care home offering excellent care and support where residents are treated with a gentle dignity in an atmosphere of calm which the home encompasses.

Iden Manor feels like a 'home' and Mum has settled in very well. The staff work hard and know all the residents so well.
There is a varied amount of activities on offer and relatives are made to feel welcome at all times. The home is set in stunning grounds and residents enjoy good food and lovely
private rooms with fabulous views. We were all made to feel welcome and part of a 'big family'.

My relative is a resident at Iden Manor and has been there for six years. During this time she has received excellent person centred care. Staff are kind and caring and open to suggestions and conversations with relatives about the persons changing care needs. The Management Team our interested in their
clients and the relatives and any issues which arise are listened too and dealt with quickly and in an appropriate manner. My relative is happy and settled at Iden Manor and I am very grateful for all the care and kindness she receives there. Well done Team! Keep up the good work.

No one wants to move into a care home of course, but Iden Manor is as good as it gets.


The care is excellent and staff to residents ratio is high. It is homely. Relatives are welcome any time. The resident chefs make healthy food with plenty of choice from local sources. Activities are simply A1.

Rooms are large. Staff are friendly, approachable, professional and caring. My mother is comfortable, safe and content.

My dad stayed with Iden Manor until he passed away earlier this month. The staff in this care home are all lovely, take the time to make you feel at ease and have paid great care and attention to my father who needed a lot of assistance over the three years that he was there. Whilst he could not participate
in activities, the home to run a lot of activities for those who are able and it seems to be a very friendly and happy place to stay. The care given is excellent and I would highly recommend them.

My Sister was a resident of the Good Shepherd unit from November 2017 until her sad passing in February 2018.
The home is of an excellent standard and one of the nicest that I have been in. The staff ratio to residents was excellent and nothing was too much trouble.
I cannot stress how much the care
and compassion that all of the staff gave to her during her brief stay, helped us to cope with her illness.
The staff, from the cleaners, right through to the management were so friendly and always had time for a quick chat.


Finding the right home for a loved one is very difficult, but I would have no hesitation in recommending Iden to anybody.


All I can say to all of the staff is thank you for taking good care of her and preserving her dignity whilst she was with you. It meant a great deal to the family.

“I am very excited to be given the opportunity to lead the fabulous team within the magnificent home and grounds of Iden Manor. I was initially drawn to the home, in the role of quality assurance manager by the splendor of the surroundings, the person focused values of the owner, but have since come to truly respect and admire the care, support and affection the team share with the residents and relatives within the home. It is so wonderful to be part of a team who care about our residents, not just for them.
I, have been within the care industry since I was a young 18yr old girl, working as a healthcare worker in a nursing home, and shortly after commencing my mental health nurse training. I have always been passionate that the care and support that I offer is the best it can possibly be, and thus have continued to gain a breadth of experience in many different areas of health and social care, including obtaining MScs in both mental health and social work, and managing health and social care, and continued to also teach within both NHS and private care settings. Supporting people in need is such a privilege and one of the most rewarding jobs, challenging at times yes, but immensely rewarding. I too have travelled the journey with my mother when she was diagnosed with dementia, and I am fully understanding and empathetic as to the emotions, challenges and worries that are associated with having others caring for someone so precious. That is why I am so pleased to be with a team whom I am proud to say can deliver that caring, effective, responsive safe and loving environment we all want.”
