Unfortunately due to Covid-19 visits have been restricted. On the couple of occasions, I did visit all the staff were very helpful and kind. My father was made very welcome and kept comfortable at all times.

I am so pleased with the way my mother is being looked after. When she went into the home, she did not talk that much, did not want to eat, she just wanted to stay in bed on her own. Her legs and feet were so weak and swollen, and she was so introvert; she was happy to see the family but did not interact
much past a smile, but now she is up and dressed, saying a lot more, and her legs and feet are to a normal size. She said she is happy and does not want to go home. We are so happy.

Despite the lockdown, the staff at Ami Court have always gone the extra mile for mum, spending more time with her when she’s felt anxious, and also making her a special birthday treat.
We’re on the phone to Mum every day, and the nurses are always happy to talk about how Mum’s been and always have
her best interests at heart.

My mother was admitted to be cared for the 'end of life' care and died yesterday. She was lovingly cared for in all respects and staff treated her with respect and gave her the dignity she deserved.

Mum was not at Ami Court for very long as did not go till 22nd December, but during this time she received the best care, as a daughter, I would wish. She was treasured by all and nursed at the end with utmost dignity and compassion and I was also kept informed at all times of day and night.

My 90-year-old mother has been at The Knoll for five years now, and we cannot thank the staff enough, for the care they take of her. She is treated with respect and kindness, and despite her diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, considerable efforts are made to engage her inappropriate activities.
The
food is always appetizing, with choices available and care is taken in tempting her to eat as wide a variety of foods as possible.
We are always made to feel very welcome and kept informed as to her health and general well-being. Both the management and nursing teams are led by highly dedicated and experienced staff whose professionalism is reassuring. We have every confidence that The Knoll addresses the needs of my mother to the highest standards they can and we are grateful to them.

My grandmother who has Alzheimer's disease has lived at The Knoll Nursing Home for five years. During this time we have found the team at The Knoll to be kind and caring. They are very responsive and are excellent at keeping us updated both in person and over the telephone. They always make my family
feel very welcome when we are visiting. The leadership is excellent. I would like to thank the whole team for all that they do.

My mum has been a resident of Ami Court since September 2018 she receives excellent care from the lovely staff.
My dad was in Ami Court for six weeks this year until he died, he was given excellent care from the lovely staff.
The staff treat the residents as family.
The manager and staff have all
been so caring and supportive to me as well. It has been a very difficult time having both my parents ill and needing 24-hour care. The manager and staff understand what I am going through and I know that my dad was well cared for until he died.
My mum needs constant care and the staff are there to see to her every need, they are so patient, professional, kind and hardworking.
Thank you to the manager and staff at Ami Court.

My uncle would like his own room. We have both asked about this and not really received proper or any explanations.
He would like his own privacy, plus it can be noisy for him and this disturbs him.
He also doesn't see/understand why he has to pay for someone to go to hospital appointments. Otherwise,
he is satisfied.

Reply from Nirali Patel, Clinical Lead at Ami Group - The Knoll Unit and Ami Court Unit

Thank you for your review and feedback, we really do appreciate it. We take all our comments, reviews and feedback very seriously and strive to fulfil requests from our residents as soon as we possibly can. On the 1st of October, this gentleman was moved to a single room which became available, he is very happy and settled in his new room surrounded by his personal belongings. All patients have the right to have their family or friends to support them during hospital appointments.

I have found Ami Court well managed with consistent and caring staff, who build relationships with their families. It is really homely and friendly, alongside being safe and secure. It is a very clean and bright environment. In the communal space my dad is encouraged to eat with the others, he feels
safe and chatts about the music and activities. The management and staff know my dad well and about his health needs, he has been stabilised, settled, mentally and physically. I feel huge relief and am so happy he is here, not only have they support my dad, but also me.

The staff and management have been very patient and tolerant with my mother.
She has not been the easiest of people and has been difficult to please on many occasions.
The management and staff have been there to support us and listen to any concerns we might have had.

My aunt was sent to Ami Court by the hospital. She had been given 48 hours to live. The care she received was amazing and she started to thrive, the care that she received here has extended her life. She is so well looked after and I have experience of other homes in Kent and this is so far the best.
My Aunt is happy and the staff always have time for us as well as my aunt. I would recommend the home to anyone.

When my husband moved into Ami Court he was recovering from a chest infection and was very frail. I never thought he would get out of bed. The staff have looked after him so well he has put flesh on his bones. He is communicating. He now sits in the lounge and enjoys his days and he now smiles.

My mother has been a resident in Ami Court for about nine years and has always received a high level of care. Her room is of a good size with an en-suite toilet/wet-room shower. My mother elects to stay in her room and doesn't use the communal facilities, the staff are caring and attentive and regularly
check to see if she needs anything. All in al,l the home is a safe and caring environment.

My mother was at Ami Court for three months for an assessment and was diligently healed of the rash of bedsores she had picked up at the Hospital.

This home has a large lounge, serving as a dining/games room. The food was generally very good but much of it was wasted, as one finds in hospitals and

hotels. Patients can lack appetite. My mother, however, had no problem eating it!

The games lady was there five afternoons a week, offering arts and crafts, bingo, etc. There was also a big TV screen.

Staff were usually very friendly and helpful with a sense of humour, though some people stretched their patience. My arthritic mother was one, requiring a hoist to lift her out of her armchair and into a wheelchair. Sometimes she was kept waiting for the loo, but that was often due to demand from a mix of physically and mentally handicapped. Her bedroom was clean and airy.

I recommend Ami Court and wish I could transplant it nearer her own home!

My mum spent her last few weeks at Ami Court and we are so pleased as a family with the care she received and also the support given to my dad.
The staff went over and above in caring for mum - making her a birthday cake and ensuring dad was kept abreast of things when she deteriorated.

I visited a friend of mine in Ami Court yesterday and he was in bed and needed the loo, he is recovering from a hip operation and needs assistance to move around, he also has dementia. I went and asked someone to assist him as the call bell in his room was not in use as the patient cord had been removed!!
He waited for the best part of at least 12 minutes. I had to go down twice. A young foreign guy possibly Romanian came into the room got him on to the walky thing (with my help I had to show my friend where to place his hands so to steady himself) they use and wheeled him to the loo put him on it and left him there with the door open (he was looking at me). He then cleaned him up with some hand towels and brought him back to the bed. At no point did he sanitise or wash his hands or put gloves on and I was still in the room throughout and at no point was I asked to wait outside. When my friend was in need the staff were serving the residents afternoon meals. Need I say more!

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.504)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.504) out of 10 for Ami Group - The Knoll Unit and Ami Court Unit is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.7 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.830 for Ami Group - The Knoll Unit and Ami Court Unit is calculated as follows: ( (40 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 47 Ratings = 4.83

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.674 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ami Group - The Knoll Unit and Ami Court Unit is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 67 registered maximum number of service users is 13.4. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 13.4 = 0.299

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
