The staff are very caring and my mother says she is happy. Entertainment would appear to have got better in recent months. There have been ongoing management changes and it would be nice to see this settle down. The room my mother is in is quite shabby and, I think, poorly set up for a person who can't
get to things herself e.g. no ability to be wheeled (small wheelchair) to parts of the room for her to see what she has in a specific drawer.

On the 7th of April 2022, we met with social services at the home to discuss my father returning home. After an hour of talking, which included a staff member we decided to go and see what my father's thoughts were. My brother, social services and I walked around to his room and was shocked to see he
was dying. He passed away the next morning at 8am. I have since requested from the Manager a report as to what went wrong, (there is a lot more to this story but won't go into), but have had no contact back from anyone. Social Services also let them know I was requiring a report. What I want is some contact from the new Manager as to why no one had had the decency to reply to my emails or let me know that a full investigation is at least taking place. Please can you give me your procedures to take this further.

The staff are extremely caring. Mum's care needs are always met to a high standard. There is good communication from the home. Mum is very happy. She always has plenty to do within her personal ability.

My mum was in Maidstone Care Centre from January 2020 until November 2021. The care and attention she received was excellent, even on her passing the compassion and care was second to none. We will be forever indebted to the centre. As we are living in Ireland it was a great comfort that she was being
so well looked after.

The room was a good size which provided ease of support to Mum to be looked after. The staff were so compassionate and caring and looked after Mum marvellously during her short stay. The staff were also very supportive to our family as we had to travel some distance and gave us time to be with Mum to
the end. We cannot thank them enough.

Our son, who has learning disabilities, was in hospital with severe respiratory difficulties and was transferred to the home in December 2019. We expected his condition to deteriorate and had faced the prospect of losing him, however, the home has looked after and nurtured him so well that he now walks,
he has put on weight and is not dependent on oxygen. We have the highest praise for all the staff.

It's hard to express how grateful I am for the care and attention the staff gave to my husband during the last weeks of his life. His dementia, exacerbated by cancer, had transformed him from a lovely, kind and caring man to one full of torment with very challenging behaviour. The staff saw beyond this
and treated him with all the respect and loving care I could have hoped for. They did their very best in these difficult times to give us as much access as possible towards his end of life care. My heartfelt thanks to them all.

Staffing levels at weekends and nights appear to be too far reduced, resulting in those staff that are on duty being rushed off their feet, becoming stressed and irritable. Thus they are unable to provide the level of compassionate care that they desire in their hearts to provide.
Food generally good.
Activities staff very good.

I am sorry to hear these comments as we have not reduced any staff. We have a dependency tool that informs the management team of how many staff hours are required for all the residents and never go below the recommendations; the deployment of staff is also included as to the times the residents' needs are required. We are lucky to be fully staffed with our own staff. It has been a difficult year this year and everyone in the industry has felt the stress. Night staff do have less duties because most residents are asleep at night and this is reflected in the staffing hours deployed. I will however be increasing night staff visits to ensure they are managing the workload effectively throughout the night. The lead nurses who do both day and nights including weekends have not raised this as an issue so I will clarify with them also. I would like to assure you the day and night care shifts have the same amount of staff seven days a week.

Up until March this year, was very happy with the home but just as Covid hit, the majority of staff left. So it left us leaving our relative with 'strangers'. We are grateful to have 30-minute visits every three weeks but do not have enough communication in between visits to know the day to day running
of the home. On our recent visit, we were disappointed to be told we can no longer take in flowers, etc. My mother takes great joy in the simplest of these things. The staff we see on these visits are very good with Mum and are trying their best.

Dear Mandy, it is unfortunate that we have restrictions due to COVID-19 and that you have not been allowed into the home since lockdown in March, to see the home and meet any new staff. We have issued a newsletter to update residents and relatives of any changes and what we are doing within the home. Our head office writes to relatives on a regular basis. Under the guidelines, you have had visits away from the main building with your mum but the photos of mum we have taken have evidenced that she is happy and taking part in all activities. I did ask you if you wanted to meet this week to discuss any issues you may have but you declined. My offer goes to you again in the hope we can resolve any issues you may have.

I went to take a Covid safe visit with my mother-in-law. I was greeted in a friendly, approachable manner, my mother-in-law was treated in a lovely manner, she was chatty and happy. I found the whole experience very relaxing and calm. I was shown photos/videos of my mother-in-law doing activities, which
she seemed to enjoy.
Definitely a great place with lovely people working there.

Visits of 30 minutes every three weeks is not enough to give a good basis for a review. My previous opinions are no longer valid because of COVID 19 restrictions. I really appreciate the personal visits but even more so are the two Skype sessions (15 minutes) every week. My wife has been here for 5
or 6 years. She is very settled and content. She has no communication ability at all.

My mum was treated with respect, kindness and dignity during her time at Maidstone Care Centre. The staff were welcoming whenever we visited and took the time to get to know my mum in order to support her properly with her dementia. We feel lucky to have found such a caring and considerate home for

The care team are friendly and caring and able to deal with quite complex needs (which my mum has). Rooms are modern and clean and the general atmosphere in the home is calm. We didn't get a say in the home my mum was placed in but we're very happy that she is in Maidstone Care Centre.

The Maidstone Care Home manager and staff were very welcoming when my husband was initially admitted to the home 4.5 years ago.
His bedroom was satisfactory, however, there was no TV which surprised me and no fan. The rooms were often too warm, particularly in the summer and the temperature was poorly
regulated. My husband remained in bed day and night and the availability of support pillows were insufficient for his needs.
I would like to give my thanks to the care staff who were mainly from Nepal. They provided excellent care. However, their work hours are long and pay did not reflect the importance of the role. As a result, care staff turnover was high which was unnecessarily confusing for residents.
Thank you also to the maintenance manager at the care home, who worked very hard and kept the home and gardens in good order. Also, the activity coordinators who provided a good range of daily activities for both residents in bed and in the lounge.

Great care. Staff excellent. Facilities are good with lots of entertainment for the residents. My father has a nice room and receives excellent care. The staff know him and his needs and he seems very content and we know he's safe.

Job Title: General Manager

I am delighted to lead the team at Maidstone Care Centre in my capacity as the General Manager, I am deeply passionate about caring for older people. With 19 years of experience in the sector, I find joy and fulfilment in ensuring residents are well cared for and live a rewarding life in our home - I especially enjoy my daily interactions with all the residents. I have a degree in nursing from the Philippines and have specialised in dementia care completing further studies at Bradford University. My dedication to improving the lives of the residents is at the heart of my work.
