Our father-in-law only came to live at St Margaret's Nursing Home in December 2016. He settled really quickly. The staff are all friendly and caring, attending to his medical and emotional needs. The manager and her assistant have also been very helpful to us, taking care of all transitional arrangements
and whenever we visit, they are very informative about his health and wellbeing. All the staff seem well-informed and interested in their residents. We are always made to feel welcome.

My mum has been cared for by the excellent staff at the St Margarets Nursing Home since August last year, and we are very happy with the level of care, support and dignity received both by my mum and my family when we visit. It is a very welcoming nursing home.

Very kind and approachable staff, always welcoming when we arrive. The registered nurses are always keen to give me an update of my mother's condition and care needs and act on any issues which may arise.

My father was admitted for end of life care and died at the end of October. I cannot fault his care. As a registered nurse myself, I was aware of the professionalism shown by all members of staff, both qualified and care assistance. This also extends through to all the support staff. My father's physical
and emotional needs were fully met with staff going the extra mile, for example, to tempt his appetite. They extended this care and support to all members of our family. Indeed, Dad said to us that he would recommend St Margaret's Nursing Home.

My dad is very happy and he has kept as much independence as he can. He is receiving very good end of life care but still likes to do as much for himself as he can which is what he wants. The staff do as much as they can to always make you welcome with pots of tea, coffee, cake and biscuits and you're
always made to feel at home. They're also always there to help and support you in any way they can. That's all the members of staff.

My experience of St Margaret's Nursing Home is of excellence. I have found all of the staff caring, friendly and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. My husband is now bedridden but there is always a friendly face popping in to check on him and make him more comfortable. I have noticed that the staff
make an effort to put on various activities for the most mobile residents. I can't really comment on the food as my husband has difficulty swallowing so is on a restricted diet, but they will always offer an alternative to tempt him. His medical care has been faultless and there is always a senior member of staff available is you have any queries.

My mum was only with you for one evening and a morning before she sadly passed away but in the short time she was there, she was well looked after. The staff were brilliant and dealt with my mums passing with the utmost care and professionalism. They are all a credit to their jobs and my mum couldn't
have been better taken care of.

My husband has been received as if meeting family friends again despite being in a hoist and having to be transferred on a stretcher. This is so refreshing. My husband was discharged from hospital on 28.4.16, into St Margaret's Nursing Home then readmitted to hospital by the diligence of the staff who
phoned me up for permission as my husband did not want to go into hospital. As he had been there for 12 weeks previously. My husband was admitted to hospital on 3.5.16 and discharged again on 8.5.16 in very traumatic circumstances. Everything was waiting for him at St Margaret's and I settled him and left the staff to get into a routine with my husband again. Within 24 hours my husband was returning to his old self again. I am confident that he will recover slowly to enable me to take care of him in the near future. We both need time to readjust to the new set of circumstances that we have found ourselves in.

Mum has been in St Margaret's for two years and has been very happy. Unfortunately she is not mobile due to a bad fall 3 years ago, when she broke her hip and arm. The staff and management are terrific with her, she is looked after very well, her room is small but she has everything she needs. She enjoys
her meals and as she is diabetic they spoil her by making special foods so she doesn't feel left out. My husband and I enjoy going to the home and are always made very welcome. It is a very happy place, and everyone living there is very well cared for.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.825)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.825) out of 10 for St Margaret's Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.650 for St Margaret's Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (43 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.65

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.175 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Margaret's Nursing Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 25 registered maximum number of service users is 5. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 5 = 0.8

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
