The Miramar Care Home in Kent enjoys the perfect location on Herne Bay's panoramic seafront with beautiful sea views and offers quality award-winning care in luxurious surroundings. The team at the Miramar offer a warm welcome to all.

Couples and companions are warmly welcomed to the home where their well-being, comfort, and happiness are top priority.

Miramar is a purpose-built care home with a variety of apartments including independent living apartments, offering exceptional accommodation which is affordable and is of a very high standard. The home offers, residential, respite and dementia care.

The home is far from typical and offers a variety of different options including a cosy en-suite studio, one and two-bedroom apartments, which have a separate lounge and kitchen with a full en-suite wet room. It is unique as it offers double the space of most care homes and is ideal for those wanting extra room or couples who want to stay together. Apartments come unfurnished allowing residents to bring those special pieces of their home with them.

Life at the Miramar is all about making it feel like home. Facilities include a beautifully landscaped garden, four lounges to relax in, including a coastal lounge with stunning sea views and a comfy coffee lounge, ideal for visiting families. Residents can also catch a film in Mirarmar's very own cinema room.

The home has a licensed restaurant with a menu being dictated by current residents. There is also an extensive range of activities which provides trips out, visiting speakers, one-to-one, with all activities again being chosen by the home's own resident committee.

Residents at the home can also indulge in having their nails and hair done in the dedicated hair salon & spa room.

It has always been reassuring knowing that Mum has been so well cared for at the Miramar. These last 12-months have been a difficult time for everyone. The team have exceeded themselves - keeping in touch with the family - arranging visits when possible. Good to know she has been kept safe and well.

My parents joined The Miramar in 2019. They had a superb flat with a balcony and uninterrupted views of the sea. They enjoyed the high quality of the public rooms, the standard of food in the restaurant and, above all, the friendly and caring nature of the staff. When my father died, the compassion
shown to my mother and the treatment of our whole family could not have been bettered. I will always be grateful for the support we were given at a very difficult time. My mother continued to live in the flat for over another year. During this time, her physical condition declined and, of course, there was Covid to deal with but the staff remained as kind as ever. Visiting, when allowed, was well managed and phone calls kept us in regular touch. A fall has meant that my mother has had to transfer to a home that is able to offer full nursing care. Moving out was like parting from old friends. We will miss everyone.

My mum has been a the Miramar for 4 years with two being in the Cypress Unit. I am so pleased that she has been receiving the best of care. I certainly could not provide this at home!
The staff are so caring and I can see that my mum appreciates them. Their level of expertise is also superb.

My mum is very happy at The Miramar Care Home. She was initially reluctant about becoming a resident just before lockdown this year. However she has nothing but praise for the staff and care she receives there and we haven’t seen her this happy in years despite the painful condition she suffers from.
We are so grateful that we do not have to worry about her in these difficult times and that she is safe and happy.

I cannot praise the staff highly enough for all that they do, my Mother was admitted in lockdown thus making it very difficult for me to be involved in the settling in process, which added more stress to a very stressful situation, but the whole process was dealt with in a professional caring manner.
Everyone has been extremely kind and thoughtful both to my Mum and to me, which has enabled us to feel well supported and confident in our choice of home.

This was mum's 2nd visit for respite care, within 6 months and she came home with nothing but compliments about the staff and how friendly and caring they were to her during her stay. She actually enquired about her next stay and how soon would she be going! It is wonderful for me, knowing I can have
a holiday in the knowledge that mum is in the good care (and a safe and happy environment) of the staff at Miramar Care Home.

Miramar benefits from a unique location and the services and care provided are satisfactory.
However, prospective Residents and their Relatives should be aware of two issues:


(i) There is no longer in-house registered nurses in Miramar (from March 2019). Should Resident(s) need nursing care, it

would be provided by external NHS District Nurses.


(ii) Avery Healthcare Ltd. (i.e. Miramar Management) increases consistently their Fees. The latest increase was notified on 27 November 2019, to be implemented on 01 January 2020. Since we joined Miramar in October 2017, we experienced 3 annual Fees increases: 4.5% Jan 2018; 4.8% Jan 2019; and 5.3% Jan 2020. As long-term Miramar residents, we are concerned by these recurrent increases, because our pensions, the main source of our income are, by law adjusted to CPI (around 2% for each of the last 2 years).
