Saltwood Care Centre is located on Tanners Hill, Hythe just a short walk from the shops and facilities of the High Street.

Recent extensions and refurbishments to the building, the latest completed in 2016, have created a delightfully spacious and airy environment in which to live, whether that be on a short or long-term basis.

The staff team are passionate about the caring service provided and are committed to providing the very best care for all of their residents.

All meals are nutritionally balanced and freshly prepared by the chef and the team using local ingredients wherever possible with varied menu choices available daily.

Saltwood Care Centre enjoys wonderful sea views and is set within beautiful grounds with patio areas that are accessible for residents to enjoy.

Saltwood Care Centre offers single occupancy accommodation in spacious and well-appointed rooms, the majority enjoying en-suite facilities or wet rooms.

A wide range of therapeutic and leisure activities are provided for all residents who wish to take part. They also regularly hold events to which families and friends are welcomed as well as providing special entertainment from outside organisations.

My father was admitted to Saltwood Care Centre in October 2022 following a fall at home. He remained at the nursing home until his passing in June 2023. The care he received was exemplary despite him being very difficult at times. All the staff that cared for him were kind, professional and non-judgemental.
I would also say that the support I received from the staff throughout this very difficult time was incredible. They were attentive and kind and were always willing to lend an ear to me! I always had a smile from them when I arrived ! The reception and office staff were also exceptionally professional, kind and supportive. Thank you to you all for all the support I and his wife have received.

My father has been at Saltwood Care Centre since February 2023. The care he has received since being a resident is excellent. The staff are very attentive and kind. He is 97 and has settled very well with the help of the staff. He had a fall in January and was quite poorly, but since he has been at
Saltwood, he has really picked up and is back to his old self.

My father was denied his postal ballot papers by being given his letter on the day 5th of May at 13.00 hours.
I visited my father on a day I wouldn't normally visit him, to witness this happening.
Management couldn't verify the date of delivery or seemed to have a system.
The ariel system for the
home and its rooms is inadequate which doesn't give all free view channels and can be temperamental. My father often has to wait 20 to 30 minutes for his internal call bell to be answered.

My father, who had Alzheimer's and severe mobility issues, stayed with Saltwood Care Centre for the last few weeks of his life. His room was spacious and clean and had a beautiful view of the sea. My family and I visited at various times of the day, the staff were, without fail, welcoming and friendly,
and my father's care was exceptional. He always had food and drink when he wished but was given peace and quiet too. He was treated with dignity and respect, both in life and after in death.
What I really appreciated was the kind, caring way the care home treated my mother when she visited as well. They could not do enough for her and were incredibly compassionate when he died.
I cannot recommend this care home highly enough.

This care home is outstanding. My Nan has been there 7 and a half years and recently passed away and all I can say about the staff and facilities are there outstanding I honestly can not recommend and speak highly enough about this home. The staff become family. The care that was given was exactly what

My mum was in Saltwood for over five months recuperating from a stroke, and we cannot fault the care and respect that she received. The food was amazing, with homemade goodies. The staff were brilliant, and the entertainment could not be faulted.

My mother was at this nursing home for the year before her death. She was totally bed-bound, and over the last 12 months of her life, she gradually lost her voice and the use of one arm. My family visited at various times of the day and on different days of the week. The care home were excellent in
their care of Mum. I wish that I had known that Mum could need nursing care when I had picked a care home a couple of years ago, as it would have been better for her to go to the nursing home in the first place and not be moved here later. Thank you, Saltwood Care Centre, you have been brilliant!

My mother was only meant to be in for four weeks and ended up nine months. Although my mother wanted to go home, she was treated well and looked after and has come home better than when she went in. She had a grade four bed sore when she went into the care home from the hospital and was treated at the
care home and fully healed her bed sore, which we are very grateful for as my mother was suffering in a lot of pain for weeks.

Saltwood Care Centre has been brilliant at settling my father-in-law in, making him feel at home. When we visit, we get a lovely greeting from the amazing receptionist to the staff who care for him. Dad is always very clean and his room spotless. The actual home is always pristine with no "old" person
smell. Thank you to all who care for him, as we do not have to worry about his well-being at all.

On my arrival at Saltwood Care home, it was a shock to the system. I didn't know what to expect or what was expected of me, it was a pleasant surprise. I found the staff to be extremely helpful, and they helped me to settle in. Nothing was too much, and that remains in peace today. I had envisioned
that the home would be run on the lines of a prison. I was totally wrong. It's a very relaxed atmosphere, even though staff have to deal with some very difficult residents; they are always very professional.

My dad has been at Saltwood Care Home for approximately eight months initially it took him a little while to settle in as a completely different environment to which he had been used to, but once he settled he is very happy most of the time.
The staff all seem very nice and he feels safe in their care.
My dad always said he didn't want to go into a care home but when it was impossible for him to stay at home but he is very happy, settled and cared for.

I had a lovely week at the Saltwood Care Centre. The staff were so welcoming and helped me in my recuperation after a total hip replacement. I am going home today and will miss all the lovely people - both staff and residents.

My mum came to Saltwood Care Centre for end of life care. Both Mum and other family members were treated with respect and compassion at all times, by all members of the wonderful staff. We received regular communications from the home, and any queries we raised, were swiftly answered. Knowing that Mum
was in a peaceful place, receiving compassionate, professional care helped all of us through this really difficult time. I cannot thank all the staff at Saltwood enough for their care, compassion, support and dedication during the time my mum was with them.

I have only praise for Saltwood Care Centre. My mother spent two and a half years at the centre before passing away in January 2021. Everyone at the home could not do enough for Mum. The kindness, love and care that "every" member of staff gave to her were exemplary. Everything from the cleanliness
of the centre to the food is of a very high standard.

My husband entered Saltwood Care Centre for end of life care. Both he and I were treated with gentle kindness and compassion at all times, all had time for us. One nurse, in particular, gave precious time for conversations with my husband about their shared passion for music and playing saxophone. I
was 'kept in the loop' about his condition, my questions answered sympathetically, knowing he was in this peaceful place at this time has helped me to cope with his last days. A big thank you for support and dedication from all concerned.

I cannot praise highly enough the care given to my father at Saltwood Care Centre during the four and a half years. He was a resident there. The visits he had from several volunteers cheered him up no end and the staff gave him all the care and attention he needed. The kindness and compassion shown
to the family in the last days of his life were exceptional. Thank you, all of you.

Hi, My name is Sophie and I am the Registered Manager here at Saltwood Care Centre.


I have worked in the healthcare sector since 2008, I have worked in various different roles and developed my skills along my journey. I have worked for both private and public health providers.


I worked previously as a home manager and have supported a range of needs throughout my career including specialist Dementia and nursing care. I have gained qualifications such as my NVQ 5 in management & leadership.


I am passionate about delivering a high standard of care and making a difference in people's lives. For any person, family member or loved one, choosing a care home can be understandably difficult and I aim to make the transition as smooth as possible with care and understanding to all involved.


Sophie leads her team by example – being open, honest, and passionate about providing the best person-centred care for all residents. Sophie takes pride in her work, always giving her best and ensuring that Saltwood Care Centre is a special place for residents, their families, and the team at Saltwood.

Maria Theresa Guerzon

My name is Maria Theresa Guerzon. My family and friends call me Terri but Maria at work. I have been working in the UK care industry for almost 21 years.


I completed my degree in Bachelor of Science in Biology and Bachelor of Science in Nursing in Philippine Universities. I started working in England as a Senior Health Care Assistant, passed my Nursing adaptation and registered as a nurse in 2006. I completed my nursing adaptation at Philbeach Care Centre, which is now called Saltwood Care Centre. I studied further At Christ Church University and completed Leadership courses.?


I worked in different care settings as a nurse, agency nurse, clinical lead and Deputy Manager. This enabled me to gain a wealth of knowledge and experience and provided me with the tools to ensure that residents receive the very best care.? I love music. For me, music itself is healing. Sometimes patients call me “the singing nurse.” ?I am honoured to be part of the Integrum Care Group and to work alongside a great team at Saltwood Care Centre.


Natasha

Natasha Jarvis

Job Title: Relations Experience Manager

I Joined SCC as a receptionist in Nov 2020, in the middle of the Covid lockdown, previously working in guest services.


Both my husband and sister work within the company and I was very aware of the effect covid was having within the care home industry and really wanted to help. My intention was to return to my old job but here I am over 3 years later and now a resident experience manager.


I have always had a great relationship with our resident's families and now I get to spend time with the residents too. I look after the domestic team, catering and reception. I also support The Home Manager, Sophie as much as possible. Sophie and I work very well together and enjoy a fantastic working relationship. Saltwood has a great team, and I am very proud of them daily.

Linda Writer

Job Title: Receptionist

My name is Linda Writer, I am originally from Ivory Coast in West Africa.


I have been working as a receptionist for Saltwood Care Centre since the 1st of June 2023.


My responsibilities include welcoming visitors and assisting with administrative duties as requested.


I previously worked as a dispenser for a local Chemist for 10 years.


I have worked with the public for over 20 years, and I enjoy helping and serving others.


Hayley

Hayley McLachlan

Job Title: Administrator

Joined: 2023

Hayley joined Saltwood Care Centre in March 2023 as the Home Administrator.


Her role is a key function to support the Home Manager and all members of staff which she does by managing the home administration efficiently. Amongst many duties, Hayley’s role incorporates overseeing staffing, rotas, recruitment and the onboarding of new members of staff.


Before joining Saltwood, Hayley worked in Care for 3 years. This is where she gained a good understanding of the care industry and where she found her passion for helping people by ensuring they receive a high level of care and support.


With over 25 years of previous experience as a Sales Manager for a large Insurance & Holiday company, an Office Manager for a manufacturing company and a Receptionist for a Doctors Surgery, Hayley offers a wealth of experience to Saltwood with knowledge in sales, quality assurance, project management, risk assessment, customer services and all forms of staff management.
