Kind, friendly staff. Beautiful setting.
Areas for improvement:
General communications with family!
Need to provide a guide for service users/family to explain what is and isn't available (eg, bring your own wheelchair, label your clothes or else laundry lose them, bring in supermarket
On balance: staff lovely, but management needs to tighten up on lots of areas.
While I can't fault individuals, I could have put my mother into a luxury hotel for 10 days for a lower price, she would have received a better quality of life and we could have bought in extra services.

Dear Cressida
I am sorry to hear about your mothers disappointing stay with us recently. We really appreciate your feedback raising these issues and hope you will give us a chance to put things right. As you raise many issues, I would like to comment on each point you raise so that people get a fair reflection of the service we provide:
1) General communications with family. You are right, good communication with family members is indeed, extremely important. We have ample staff on duty at all times who are there to help as well as more senior staff being available either face to face or by phone or email to rectify any issues that may arise.
2) Guide to service users/family. Again, you are right, there is a need for a guide, which is why we supply one. This should have been in your mother’s room on arrival but unfortunately it seems to have gone missing. This wasn’t noticed prior to your mother’s arrival and I can only apologise.
3) Bring your own wheelchair. This is most certainly not necessary. We have an ample supply of wheelchairs and other equipment available for residents to use.
4) Label your clothes or else laundry lose them. Yes, indeed we do ask that all clothes are labelled prior to admission as we have up to 65 other people in the building who are also having their clothes washed every day. If clothes are not labelled, it is really not surprising that they will take longer to find their rightful owner than if they are.
5) Bring in supermarket meals for staff to prepare. This is certainly not normal practice as we cook a varied range of home-made meals every day.
6) Give resident autonomy re GP. Unfortunately, this is totally outside of our control. Our GP visits once per week and meets with any resident who needs to see him.
7) Ensure Call Bells are working. I am absolutely certain that our call bells are working and are responded to. During her 12 day stay, your mother used the call bell 290 times and these calls were answered within 3 minutes on 214 occasions. The few occasions where the response time was a little longer generally coincided with busy periods. Unfortunately, we are unable to guarantee an instant response to every call bell alert.
8) Improve housekeeping. I can only apologise if you feel the housekeeping was less than perfect and I will be taking this up with the Housekeeper to understand the issue and correct any issue going forward.
We are confident that we provide a very good standard of care to a wide variety of elderly clients at a value for money cost. It is a pity that these issues were not raised during your mother's stay as I am sure they would have been simple to rectify and made her experience a more satisfactory one.

I have worked in the healthcare sector since 2008, I have worked in various different roles and developed my skills along my journey. I have worked for both private and public health providers.
I worked previously as a home manager and have supported a range of needs throughout my career including specialist Dementia and nursing care. I have gained qualifications such as my NVQ 5 in management & leadership.
I am passionate about delivering a high standard of care and making a difference in people's lives. For any person, family member or loved one, choosing a care home can be understandably difficult and I aim to make the transition as smooth as possible with care and understanding to all involved.
Sophie leads her team by example – being open, honest, and passionate about providing the best person-centred care for all residents. Sophie takes pride in her work, always giving her best and ensuring that Saltwood Care Centre is a special place for residents, their families, and the team at Saltwood.

My name is Maria Theresa Guerzon. My family and friends call me Terri but Maria at work. I have been working in the UK care industry for almost 21 years.
I completed my degree in Bachelor of Science in Biology and Bachelor of Science in Nursing in Philippine Universities. I started working in England as a Senior Health Care Assistant, passed my Nursing adaptation and registered as a nurse in 2006. I completed my nursing adaptation at Philbeach Care Centre, which is now called Saltwood Care Centre. I studied further At Christ Church University and completed Leadership courses.?
I worked in different care settings as a nurse, agency nurse, clinical lead and Deputy Manager. This enabled me to gain a wealth of knowledge and experience and provided me with the tools to ensure that residents receive the very best care.? I love music. For me, music itself is healing. Sometimes patients call me “the singing nurse.” ?I am honoured to be part of the Integrum Care Group and to work alongside a great team at Saltwood Care Centre.

I Joined SCC as a receptionist in Nov 2020, in the middle of the Covid lockdown, previously working in guest services.
Both my husband and sister work within the company and I was very aware of the effect covid was having within the care home industry and really wanted to help. My intention was to return to my old job but here I am over 3 years later and now a resident experience manager.
I have always had a great relationship with our resident's families and now I get to spend time with the residents too. I look after the domestic team, catering and reception. I also support The Home Manager, Sophie as much as possible. Sophie and I work very well together and enjoy a fantastic working relationship. Saltwood has a great team, and I am very proud of them daily.

My name is Linda Writer, I am originally from Ivory Coast in West Africa.
I have been working as a receptionist for Saltwood Care Centre since the 1st of June 2023.
My responsibilities include welcoming visitors and assisting with administrative duties as requested.

I have worked with the public for over 20 years, and I enjoy helping and serving others.

Hayley joined Saltwood Care Centre in March 2023 as the Home Administrator.
Her role is a key function to support the Home Manager and all members of staff which she does by managing the home administration efficiently. Amongst many duties, Hayley’s role incorporates overseeing staffing, rotas, recruitment and the onboarding of new members of staff.
Before joining Saltwood, Hayley worked in Care for 3 years. This is where she gained a good understanding of the care industry and where she found her passion for helping people by ensuring they receive a high level of care and support.
With over 25 years of previous experience as a Sales Manager for a large Insurance & Holiday company, an Office Manager for a manufacturing company and a Receptionist for a Doctors Surgery, Hayley offers a wealth of experience to Saltwood with knowledge in sales, quality assurance, project management, risk assessment, customer services and all forms of staff management.
