In the last two years mum has been in this nursing home, it has been particularly difficult for them with the pandemic but the staff have been great and cannot fault the way mum has been looked after. She is happy and that is all we can ask for. Well done all.

My husband is at end-stage dementia, unable to move or communicate therefore it is difficult to glean from him how he perceives his care. His ability to benefit from activities is limited, being confined to his bed and on account of his condition. However, the management and staff are very kind, caring
and professional and I feel confident they do all they can for my husband.

Reply from Stephen Norris, Manager at Pilgrims Way Nursing Home

We take great pride here at Pilgrims Way to care for everyone and meet their needs in a person-centered way. Not everyone is able to participate as fully as we, they or their families would like them to. Thank you for your wonderful positive comments to the staff, as always I will pass these on to them so they can see how they are perceived by those outside of the home. Our activities coordinator does attend those who are unable to participate in group activities, privately in their own room to offer some stimulation.

My mother has been a resident at Pilgrims Way Nursing Home since March 2020 where she has been kept safe and well during the Covid pandemic. When visiting resumed, she interacted positively with staff members whereas her dementia meant she was cautious with me because I was an unfamiliar face. All the
staff at Pilgrims are lovely and the nursing/management team keep me up to date with any changes in mum's health. I am very happy with the care she receives at Pilgrims.

Reply from Stephen Norris, Manager at Pilgrims Way Nursing Home

We love to hear positive comments and staff are pleased to hear that their efforts are being noticed from outside of the organization. This only spurs them further to continue to provide the highest quality of care.

We were so lucky to be given this care home for my mum from local authorities as my mum needed to go into a nursing home. It's been tricky through the Covid situation but everything has been as good as can be. The staff are very good and mum enjoys being there. I will look forward to when we can visit
inside and see where mum hangs out!

Reply from Stephen Norris, Manager at Pilgrims Way Nursing Home

It is a privilege to be able to look after the loved ones of all of our residents and I am confident that my staff gives everything, every day to make their time here enjoyable. We too look forward to the day when we can be free from all restrictions and really create a fun, positive and happy atmosphere and relatives can join in with the activities that we offer.

Thank you for your kind and positive words, I know my team will appreciate them.

My mother has been at Pilgrims Way since December 2019. She has received excellent care over the course of the pandemic. There are a few agency staff but even those are ‘regulars’ so all are familiar faces to the residents. The nursing and care staff are professional thorough and very caring. The catering
staff provide wholesome food cooked from scratch and cater for all dietary needs. They all work well as a team. There is a friendly welcoming atmosphere. I would thoroughly recommend this home to any prospective residents.

My mum has been here for 2 years and she totally took to the real 'homeliness' atmosphere and extremely caring, friendly and loving staff. Today on my visit I wanted to point out how slick and clean I found everything to be, plus my mum looked so fresh and lovingly attended to, even to the special cream
having been applied to her legs. Thank you to each and every member of your fantastic team - in fact, I cannot thank you all enough.

My mum (mum-in-law) was admitted straight from hospital to the care home. From the onset, she was treated with kindness, respect and dignity. Mum eventually accepted her new way of life, and this was mainly due to the manager recognising Mum's needs. All the family are so appreciative of the help and
support which was offered to us.

The staff and care provided to my Aunt were excellent. Pilgrims Way Nursing Home is a lovely, welcoming, clean and safe place to stay. The staff were very patient and caring to Aunt who could sometimes be difficult. If any problems arose, they would phone to inform us of Aunt's progress, health and
issues they had so I was always up with happenings there. Covid brought challenges, we had clear instructions on visiting times and what we needed to do. They are a wonderful caring home. Thank you.

My late father spent nearly 4 weeks at Pilgrims Way and received end-of-life care following discharge from hospital. He was treated with great respect and kindness by all the staff. His room was clean and bright and he was kept very comfortable throughout his stay. Me and my brothers were able to visit
him in his room at any time, whilst adhering to the careful Covid precautions that were in place. All the staff were very approachable and friendly - I thoroughly recommend this nursing home.

Mum was here for about 2 years until she passed away. The staff were always friendly and helpful. Although mum's dementia was advanced she always seemed very settled and comfortable. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a nursing home.

My father has been a resident at Pilgrims Way for 2 years and during this time has been extremely happy. His room is bright and clean with all the facilities he needs. The staff are friendly and always take the time to chat, in particular, one lovely nurse who dad has a special relationship with. The
food at Pilgrims Way is very good and dad enjoys them very much. As a family, we are always welcomed. The management always keeps us informed of any issues which is much appreciated. Highly recommend this care home.

We have never needed to use a carehome before but we have been very impressed with this nursing home. The pandemic has caused life to be very different but Pilgrims Way have been very helpful and caring and at the end of my mother's life, allowed us to be in her room for her last 3 days. The manager
and all the staff showed sincere empathy. Thank you.

My Mum was taken to Pilgrims Way Nursing Home after being discharged from hospital and she stayed there for 9 weeks. During her stay, she received first-class care and attention and I always felt that Mum was treated with such dignity in a kind and caring way. The manager is so lovely and always kept
me up to date on how Mum was doing and always had Mum's best interests at heart. Every time I visited Mum, I was made to feel very welcome by all of the kind staff. The home was very clean, warm and homely. And Mum always told me that the nurses were all lovely and they often made jokes with her. Mum had a really nice room which looked out into the garden which she loved. Thank you all so much.

My Aunt was a very independent and mobile person until she broke her hip. After hospitalisation, she moved from her own home to this nursing home.
Since being there she spends 95% of her time in bed in her own room. She has not been mobilised at all.
Every time I call the home it's difficult to
get through and when they do answer the phone they seem very reticent to answer questions or provide information.
Very disappointed.

We were very upset to read your comments about our nursing home. During these unprecedented last few months, my team delivered exceptional care under immense pressure and ensured your auntie received the best possible care and was kept safe from the COVID 19 virus. We found your feedback very misleading and hurtful as we have been delivering the highest possible personal care to your auntie and as a result, she has settled in well with us for the past 11 months. You are welcome at any time to send me an e-mail or come and see me in person to discuss any issues regarding your auntie.

Current Review Score: 7.5 (7.533)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.5 (7.533) out of 10 for Pilgrims Way Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 3.5 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 3.538 for Pilgrims Way Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (55 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (33 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 3.538

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.995 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Pilgrims Way Nursing Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 76 registered maximum number of service users is 15.2. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 15.2 = 0.395

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
