My mum has been at Pilgrims Way Nursing Home for over a year and I couldn't be more pleased with her care. She always looks smart whenever I visit. They have an in-house hairdresser who can make the tiniest hair look good. The food is all home cooked and fresh.

My friend had been in Pilgrims Way for approximately 8 years, in all that time all the staff were extremely caring and kind. My friend never had any reason to complain. My wife, who had been a carer for 15 years before retiring, always commented on how nice the place was and the lack of any obnoxious
smells. When she passed, a senior member of staff was with her. My comparison is based on personal experience looking after two of my sisters in different Care Homes in the Maidstone area.

This is a lovely home and we are very grateful our nan got given a place there. She has been there for 3 years now and we haven’t had any problems. The staff are great, the standard of the accommodation is very high and services like laundry, cleaning and catering are also carried to a high standard.
The kitchen staff are a great asset to the home as meals are always served with a smile and a caring attitude.
All staff are approachable and have time to discuss any concerns you may have. There is evidence of regular staff training and I’m sure good procedures are in place to ensure staff are maintaining good working practices at all times.
I visit twice a week and I’m always made to feel very welcome. I dreaded nan having to go into a care home but can honestly say that we have been happy from day 1 and it is a relief to know she is in a safe place.
A lot of money and effort has gone into the recent renovation project and the gardens outside are also beautifully maintained.

Mum arrived at Pilgrims Way Nursing Home three days ago and I cannot fault them. Lovely, clean room with a view. Kind, caring and approachable staff who know what is going on and are always happy to help. Mum arrived with a chest infection straight from hospital and a GP was organised straight away.
Everyone has been very keen to make Mum feel welcome at what is a very frightening time for her. The manager is kind, approachable and very capable and has answered all of my questions honestly and respectfully.

A positive review and recommendation. My 99 year old mother has been in the home for a year and a half. She is very happy and contented. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the nurses knowledgeable and attentive. The home is spacious and has just been upgraded with new chairs throughout and
a comprehensive redecoration.

My Mum has now been in the Pilgrims Way Nursing Home since 31.1.17 she has Vesicular Dementia plus had a major Stroke, at first it took a while for her to settle but now she seems to be accepting that this is her new home, the staff (there has been, unfortunately, a turn around in Staff and a usage
of Agencies, but going forward I have been informed that the home will only try to use permanent staff in future which is better for the residents especially those with Dementia ) are pleasant and helpful and mum has got used to them looking after her, and has her favourites. The home has now got a new manager and going forward I have been informed that there will be a lot of changes (for the better) so I am looking forward to seeing them.

Thank you for your review. I have recently joined the home as Manager and we are looking forward to stopping use of agency staff in the home by undertaking our own recruitment.

My Mother has been a Resident since February 2017 and she has received the highest standard of care. All staff are friendly and make her feel relaxed and happy in her surroundings. She enjoys the excellent food prepared, where there is always a choice every day.
The Home has recently undergone a total
refurbishment making it bright and a pleasure to visit and for my Mother to reside.

Current Review Score: 7.5 (7.533)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.5 (7.533) out of 10 for Pilgrims Way Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 3.5 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 3.538 for Pilgrims Way Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (55 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (33 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 3.538

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.995 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Pilgrims Way Nursing Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 76 registered maximum number of service users is 15.2. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 15.2 = 0.395

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
