My mum is currently a resident at Priory Mews although the last review from CQC was not good. I can't fault the care she is receiving. I go to visit her most nights and the staff are wonderful and welcome me every day I'm there and most importantly my mum is happy in her surroundings.

I am staying in Cressmor house, I am unable to walk and need a lot of help, the carers can not do enough for me and the nurses are there if things go wrong, my room is cleaned every day and the maintenance men are on hand to sort out any problems, there is also an entertainment team to keep you occupied.
A great friendly place to be staying.

My friend's husband was cared for by Priory Mews during the last few months of his life. I was very impressed with the care he received, he was bedridden but was kept beautifully clean and comfortable. We were able to visit at any time and were always welcomed by the staff. He was treated with the utmost
kindness and staff did everything possible to encourage him to eat and drink. I was particularly impressed to witness how kind and concerned the staff were during his last few days, sitting with him and talking softly.

My mother was admitted to Beaumont House in November 2023 with a terminal diagnosis.
On the day of admission, the manager gave information regarding the home but also, more importantly, about her care as they had read the hospital discharge letter and understood the challenges my mother faced in the
weeks ahead.
The rooms are of adequate size but very basic, with dated fixtures and fittings. Although, at a recent meeting, it was stated that refurbishments have been implemented.
The staff obviously rotate regularly to ensure 24-hour cover, and in our experience, all staff encountered, including cleaning, laundry, catering and maintenance personnel, treated Mum with respect and took time to communicate directly with her. The nursing staff, in particular, came across with a genuine caring attitude and professional manner.
We regularly fed her and felt the food was freshly prepared, and the menu was varied.
Access was sometimes difficult as both front door bells were inoperative.
Mum passed January 2024.

We appreciate your feedback on the initial information provided and are pleased to hear that the staff, including nursing, cleaning, laundry, catering, and maintenance personnel, treated your mother with respect and demonstrated a genuine caring attitude. We value your input, as it helps us identify areas for improvement. Thank you for choosing Priory Mews, and we appreciate the opportunity to serve your family during this challenging time.

I spent 2.5 weeks in Beaumont House for Respite Care. The staff were friendly, caring and very helpful. Everywhere was kept very clean although, perhaps, a little tired. However, decorators were in, and this will obviously improve the look. I cannot thank the staff enough for all they did for me, even
though I was only there for a short while.

My dad was admitted to Priory Mews in February 2023, he has mixed Alzheimer's and vascular dementia, a heart condition and an enlarged prostate. He was not well at all. When writing this review in January 2024 he is in such a good way, my family and I can't believe it. The constant care he receives
from all of the staff is second to none. He is calm, peaceful and well looked after and the relief that my family feel knowing that is priceless. All the staff are amazing, so happy and loving to all residents. They have made Christmas the best year we have spent with my dad for a while. We can see improvements being made constantly throughout. The food isn't the best but the facilities they have are limited and my Dad is constantly eating. We can't thank them enough. Recommended.

After a visit to my friend at Beaumont House on the morning of the 4th October I felt the need to contact the home to express how thrilled I was to see the care, attention, and love (and I do mean 'love') that he was receiving by so many members of staff.
My friend has no family and receives precious
few visits, but the warmth, friendliness, and individual attention shown to him by so many of your staff go a long way to make up for this.
They know that he enjoys conversation and go out of their way to find the time to ensure that they engage with him.
I was, as always, made to feel welcome. It was a pleasure to see around the building the photographs of my friend engaged in activities confirming that he continues to be very happy at Beaumont House.

Since my father arrived, his health has improved due to the diligence of the nursing staff and the attentiveness of all the staff.
The ladies in the office are friendly, helpful and, most of all, very efficient and attentive. They are amazing!
Two particular members of staff have managed Dad's health,
and he is now in the best condition he has been in, in a long time. The care ladies tend to Dad's every need, and they seem to be fond of him.
The cleaning ladies keep Dad's room really tidy, and I complimented them on this last week.
The maintenance man has tended to our every wish in Dad's room, like moving his wardrobe, accommodating his chair and mending his tap, and he is friendly and has a great attitude.
The activities ladies are brilliant, and Dad seems to be joining in with the activities.
We are really relieved that we do not have the ultimate responsibility for his everyday health and welfare.
So, just to say many thanks, Priory Mews!

Priory Mews is an awful place. It should be shut down. It’s an inhumane, sad place. Find somewhere that actually cares for your loved ones and shows them respect and love. Would not recommend it to my worst enemy. I’d give it 0 stars.

Reply from Tara Oakley, Customer Experience and Wellness Officer at Priory Mews Care Home

Dear Carol, We have undergone a comprehensive transformation, focusing on creating a compassionate and respectful environment for our residents. We have implemented an extensive staff training program that emphasises empathy, dignity, and person-centered care.

Our aim is to provide a safe and comfortable living space that promotes well-being and enhances the overall quality of life for our residents.
We understand that actions speak louder than words, and we would like to invite you to visit Priory Mews and witness the positive changes firsthand. I can’t fault the care from the staff. My grandparents began their journey in Cressnor and later moved to Mountenay due to Dementia. Staff were nothing but kind, loving and professional through and through. They would answer any questions and would always be a call away if help was needed, even letting
me, my dad, and my uncle stay for 5 days as they both deteriorated. We were never left thirsty or hungry and always had someone checking on us all. Staff have been under pressure, but every care home is going through this, and no care home is perfect. They were both treated with dignity and respect from the start to the end, and some also came to their funeral; we as a family appreciated this a huge amount, and it reflects how members of staff really do create a special bond with residents. A massive thank you to you all for making such a tough few years for my family that little bit easier.

Our brother’s 84th Birthday was on the day of the coronation. My husband and I visited his residence in Beaumont House with a surprise birthday cake and helium balloon. It was a joy to see his face when, with the staff on duty, we sang Happy Birthday and he excitedly blew out the candles. We watched
the coronation together with other residents and we shared in the snacks etc.
Our brother has settled in wonderfully and the past three months have seen a great improvement in his condition. He is moving his arms and hands, holding his cup and the cake too. His Parkinson's freeze can curtail his movements. The physio is helping and he is socialising in the lounge area. Loves to watch everyone. The staff have been wonderful and my sister and I are very grateful and happy with his room, attention to his needs and the genuine compassion shown him by the staff. Thank you all kindly.

My sister has been a resident for about two years in Mountenay House, Priory Mews. In the beginning, I felt that there were problems with the levels of care and cleanliness in the home. I have noticed that since March this year, there has definitely been a massive improvement. The level of care has
increased more than tenfold. All the staff are much more attentive to my sister’s needs. Previously, she very rarely left her room but now every day she is taken down to the lounge, where she can interact with residents and staff, which has made a big difference to her well-being. I always felt that it was too much trouble to the staff to get my bedridden sister out of bed and into the lounge, whereas now, nothing is too much trouble for her carers. Well done and thank you to all concerned on the vast improvement. Many thanks.

Reply from Tara Oakley, Customer Experience and Wellness Officer at Priory Mews Care Home

Dear Paul,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We appreciate your recognition of the significant improvement in care and cleanliness at Priory Mews. It's wonderful to hear that your sister's well-being has improved, and that she now has more opportunities for interaction and engagement with both residents and staff. We'll make sure to pass on your gratitude to the dedicated carers.

Inadequate, not fit to be called a care home.
I noticed staff of all levels lacking basic care skills, often oblivious to the unnecessary chaos going on. Elderly and vulnerable residents ignored as they called out and pressed buzzers, all it needed was a few kind words, a bit of time and attention,
assistance with eating and personal hygiene but it didn't happen. A very distressing environment for residents, shocking to see so many people quickly lose their dignity, from arriving looking clean, well dressed, groomed hair to looking so dishevelled and uncared for. Dirty clothes or even lost, unwashed, no dentures, unshaven, glasses missing, hair just left. We expected changes with new management but they also seemed oblivious. I have now read that all sorts of measures are in place to turn this horrible place into a care home but it shouldn't have needed the CQC inspectors to tell them, they claimed to be professional carers, they should be ashamed of themselves.

My aunt was in the hospital and advised she should go to an assessment bed, offering specialist care/attention. Unfortunately, it was Mountenay, Priory Mews. We soon noticed the lack of care. On the first day, I was asked to write funeral details for my aunt on a scruffy Post-it note. I refused, it
was upsetting. Given a medication without consent. We read it on her notes and asked for it to stop immediately. Medication that should have been put away securely was left out. Several times we arrived after noon to find curtains closed, her in bed, in night clothes, no wash, cold unappetising food on the table and the TV and radio unplugged. In dirty clothes for several days, labelled clothes missing, bedding only changed when we took it off and repeatedly asked for clean bedding. It's a disgusting, filthy place, covered in faeces, with no evidence of care/kindness, residents ignored, spoken to harshly and left unattended. Our hopes were raised when we heard of new management but it made no difference.

Reply from Tara Oakley, Customer Experience and Wellness Officer at Priory Mews Care Home

Dear Marion,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We're sorry to hear that your aunt's stay with us was not up to the standards that we strive for, and we take all feedback seriously and are committed to improving the quality of care that we provide. Many of the issues have been acknowledged as present before the acquisition, and it was clear that the home needed to take action to address these issues and improve the quality of care provided. The new management team are doing this despite only being in place since the start of March this year, and many current family members have already seen some of the ongoing changes that have been implemented and appear happy with the direction that the home is going. Significant investment has gone into staff training and the structure of the home. If you would like to see some of the recent changes that have been implemented, please do get in touch.

First of all, I’d like you to ignore the copy and paste reply that the Customer Experience & Wellness Officer for Priory Mews is dishing out all over the internet as a form of damage control. They claim they inherited problems, but no, these disgusting conditions and shocking levels of care were happening
under the new management and for several months. More than enough time to fix their inherited problems. We have 100s of photos/videos during their new management era that would make anyone feel physically sick and upset to look at. I would explain this place as a sad cage for elderly people, left to rot. Countless people living in their own filth, roaming unaided, not spoken to, not assisted eating, not washed, left to stare at the ceiling, crying out for help. People’s personalities chipped away at, becoming a shell. They became an irrelevant ‘old person in the system’. They don’t care for the person the resident is or show dignity or respect to them.

Reply from Tara Oakley, Customer Experience and Wellness Officer at Priory Mews Care Home

Dear Claire,
Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns with us. We appreciate your feedback and want to assure you that we take all complaints seriously.
As mentioned, our new management team has only been in place since March 2023. We acknowledge that there have been issues in the past, but we can assure you that we are working hard to address them. Since our new team took over, we have implemented a number of changes to improve the overall quality of care in our home. For example, we have invested in training programs to ensure that all staff are up to date with the latest best practices in care, so this transpires into the care provided for our residents.
In addition, we are inviting the community into the home to see the changes we are implementing. We understand the importance of transparency and want to show our commitment to providing high-quality care. Furthermore, we are in communication with the local councils to make enhancements within the home.
