The staff are friendly. Mum is not an easy person to deal with and staff are always helping her. Ease to get to the food needs improvement but everything is fine. There is plenty of room to walk around and is very easy for disabled people.

The person I was concerned with had been at the home since 2006/7. Her dementia and physical needs had markedly increased over the years. Over that long period of time, I observed an improvement in standards of nursing care, especially when Care Enterprises took over the running of the home. I found
the nursing staff ready to engage with me and talk over any problems that occurred from time to time. The office staff too were always helpful and, similarly, found time to talk over any administrative matters. I was not living close at hand so I needed to place my complete trust in those who had responsibility for my friend's day to day welfare. That trust was not misplaced right up until her death in May 2020.
It takes a special kind of person to cope with people who cannot communicate in the usual way. I always found my friend to be comfortable and at peace with herself.
The room, which was her 'home' was light and airy and looked out on to the countryside which she loved.

My mum is in Temple Ewell Nursing Home. At first I was wary as she has not been in one before and the furniture, etc. did not match and it looked like it could do with a lick of paint, however, this is so unimportant in the scheme of things. The staff are amazing, they do everything that they possibly
can to make my mum happy and always keep her safe. The staff do not treat her like a patient/client, they treat her the same way that they would their own parents. Nothing is too much trouble ever for them, the care, the food is good and plenty of it and there is even 24 hours room service. They arrange hairdressers, nail services and even Facetime calls. No one wants their parent to have to be in a home but if they do have to be in one, I can't see many better than Temple Ewell.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review. This is a lovely testament for the staff to share in, especially in light of the recent times whilst in lock-down. As a manager I am very proud of all the team and we all take it as a huge privilege to be able to care and support people who come to live at Temple Ewell Nursing Home.

We was suddenly advised our Mum was unable to return to her flat after a short stay in hospital and we were advised we needed to find care for her. Temple Ewell was the 1st home we visited we turned up unexpectedly and was made very welcome after being shown around and spending time asking all the questions
we were assured she would be looked after by there wonderful staff and we could visit any 24/7 and carry on being her family.
She was here for about 7 weeks when she very sadly passed away with her family around her.
Her time there was spent in a lovely room where the sun shined all day the staff and carers where wonderful to her we visited in and out with even the very youngest members of her family along with the family dog, nothing was ever any problem and we were made welcome on our visits.
We would recommend Temple Ewell for the staff and cleanliness.

My father was discharged to your nursing home after a spell in hospital meant he could not go back to the care home he had lived in for 5 years. It was a very frightening time for him and us. Your staff did their utmost to take care of him and us. Sadly, he passed away after only a few weeks but you
made that time more bearable for us all.

My mother has been a resident of Temple Ewell Nursing home a number of years and she loves it. She is very frail physically but is totally 'with it'. She has a very bright sunny room which was redecorated for her a few years ago and really considers this room as home. All the staff are so lovely
with her, very friendly and very caring and on her 90th birthday last year baked her the most amazing birthday cake and made her feel very special. Since she has been here her well-being has improved so much and I am safe in the knowledge that she will be very well looked after and should there be any 'incidents' I will be kept fully informed.

The nursing home my Mum was in closed and after looking at many homes in the area we opted for Temple Ewell Nursing Home because it felt right when you walked in, friendly, helpful staff, and a homely caring atmosphere. It was a distressing time for Mum as at 94 years old she did not want change and
had settled in her previous nursing home. The staff at Temple Ewell could not have been more welcoming, finding out all her likes, dislikes, routines etc. so that they could make the change as smooth as possible. The "Handyman" immediately set up her TV and put up pictures to make her feel at home. Mum went to various activities and enjoyed the fun and banter with other residents and the brilliant entertainments team. Great effort was made to tempt Mum with the excellent food and drink provided.
All in all, she was treated with respect, dignity and care, always clean and tidy. Staff were very attentive. The end of life care when she passed away was second to none. Caring and efficient.

I am pleased that my dad is a resident of Temple Ewell Nursing Home. When all you see is bad comments about nursing homes it is great to see that there are some very good nursing homes that really care about their residents as Temple Ewell does. It was a very difficult decision to place my dad in a
nursing home but we could not give him the care he needed at home. When my sister and I visited Temple Ewell Nursing Home, without an appointment we were very surprised that all the staff we spoke to were so helpful to us. We were shown around the vacant rooms and chose one that we thought would be best for my dad. He was privately funded first of all but even when Social Services took over the fees he was allowed to stay in the same room which was great for him. We met the owners and they spent quite some time talking to us which was very reassuring as they seem to be very hands on. All the staff have been great with my dad if we have any issues we speak to the manager who sorts it out.

At a time when the actions of a small number of carers working in care and nursing homes bring the dedication and professionalism of the majority into disrepute, it is heartening to note that each and every staff member at Temple Ewell Nursing Home gives much needed professionalism, care, love and emotional
support to both resident and their family, to enable them to remain positive through what are, for many, very difficult times.

Staff are always positive, polite and friendly, and fully prepared to meet the many diverse needs of everyone. In effect, the manager, supported by all members of her staff has created a real family atmosphere within the home.

It is to their credit that family members can be confident that the best is being done for their loved ones.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.065)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.065) out of 10 for Temple Ewell Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.356 for Temple Ewell Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (52 Excellents x 5) + (27 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (4 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 90 Ratings = 4.356

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.709 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Temple Ewell Nursing Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 registered maximum number of service users is 8.8. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.8 = 0.909

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
