This was the third Care Home my 95-year-old mother had 'tried' for respite care when her usual carer was on holiday and all the family agreed it was the best. Everyone was friendly and helpful, activities plentiful and are good. Her room had a small outside area and she was able to watch some wild birds
which is something she enjoys at home. Although she is not ready to accept that she cannot manage on her own she concedes that she could go there again - I think she will!
However, Aria Care must be the only place where a week is not 7 days and 7 nights and the family was shocked to find that she had to pay considerably more than the original invoice stated if she actually wanted to stay for a week and not 6 nights.

Before choosing Abbey Crest in January 2024, I spent several weeks researching all nearby homes and I am very pleased with my choice. It is well-appointed, welcoming and well-serviced. Its most striking characteristic is the smiling, friendly and attentive staff who really care for the residents. I

I have been impressed with the quality of care Dad has received since his admission to Abbeycrest in April. The staff are patient, attentive and professional, always on hand to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents. His room, and the common areas, are clean and tidy, and the food - Dad enjoys
his food - is good. I would happily recommend Abbeycrest to anyone seeking dementia care for a loved one.

My mother spent 2 weeks at Abbeycrest in May 2024. During that time she received excellent care and really enjoyed the activities, food and surroundings. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that Mum was well looked after. She left Abbeycrest a different woman and certainly got her "mojo" back
whilst there. She was very against going into care (having been a district nurse) but this stay has absolutely convinced her that she would like to return if she was in need of 24-hour care in the future and we, her family, would be confident at the level of care provided.

Myself, other family members and friends have all been impressed by the quality of care and nursing support given to my wife at Abbeycrest. All the staff are very attentive and seek to create a positive and happy environment for the residents. The physical space is very pleasant and well-maintained
with garden areas where residents can enjoy fresh air and sunshine. The food is always good with plenty of variation in the menus. I will happily recommend Abbeycrest to anyone seeking respite or residential care.

From the start of the process in finding the right care for my mother, Abbey Crest has been helpful and supportive. They explained all the options and helped guide the right type of support that was needed.
They were fantastic on arrival and throughout the first weeks of the change, providing updates

Dad is well cared for. The home has a high quality of care and looks out for all his needs. The staff are polite and helpful at all times. The home is well-tended, clean and well-maintained. Although expensive I don't think it is more expensive than similar homes around the area and I wouldn't hesitate
to recommend Abbeycrest.

My friend has been living at Abbeycrest for over a year now and is very happy, we have no worries at all, her care is so good, she is always clean and dressed nicely, the food is good, she was 102 years old yesterday, so I think that speaks volumes for how well she is looked after, I always recommend
Abbeycrest to anyone looking for respite or longer care.

Out of all the care homes I visited in the area I had the best feeling about Abbeycrest. As soon as I walked in there was a calm atmosphere, everywhere was clean and bright. The nurse came and introduced herself to give me the reassurance around the care she would provide my father. The outside space
was lovely with green areas to walk around. All the staff were very professional but friendly with it. I just wished my father had been well enough to enjoy some of the facilities as I know he would have loved the garden area with the bird aviary. Also the staff were very respectful and kind when my father passed away and took all the pressure away around contacting the funeral home and doctor, which was much appreciated. I would recommend Abbeycrest to anyone who was in need of supported living.

Abbeycrest from the moment my Mother arrived for respite, treated her with respect and warmth. After a few weeks she decided she would like to make the move permanent which although was a surprise to us was a welcomed decision as Mum was so happy in her lovely room with excellent staff, whether they
were nurses, carers or cleaners everyone was friendly which gave the whole home a welcoming atmosphere.

We have been very happy with the care our father has been receiving. The staff are very caring and approachable, and we feel comfortable asking questions about my dad's care.
The doctor visits every week to check on the residents and there is 24 nursing care.
We feel our father is being well cared
for, kept safe and well and happy!

My father's stay at Abbeycrest was funded by the NHS and despite his untimely demise, he was treated with the utmost respect and care while he was there. The staff were excellent and friendly and he was as happy as could be expected in his circumstances towards the end of his life. I would thoroughly
recommend Abbeycrest in its roles as a nursing home and palliative care.

The level of nursing care given to my father was excellent, his stay at Abbeycrest was made so much more comfortable with such care. This greatly helped to overcome any concerns about needing help at any time of the day or night.

My mother will never improve mentally or physically but she is palpably happier than she was when living alone, despite her strong desire to continue doing so. The staff at Abbeycrest work skillfully and hard to make her life as good as it can be - and her appearance as close to how she would have once
said she wanted it to be.

As a family, we have always found the admin and nursing staff to go the extra mile looking after Dad and our family.
Examples include:
- Nursing calls and emails to keep the family updated
- Use of rooms and catering for a recent birthday
- Support with claims and processes
- Outreach to community

- Professional but personal relationships with the nursing, care and admin teams


Whilst Alzheimer's is a horrid condition we are comforted that Dad is well cared for and his needs met at Abbeycrest Nursing Home.

My mother was a resident of Abbeycrest Nursing Home for just over three years and I visited her weekly - albeit with restrictions during the pandemic.
I was always pleased to see how well the care home was maintained and how clean and cared for my mother was when I visited.
Family members were always
kept well-informed about how Mother was and she was made a fuss of on special occasions - birthdays etc. The residents' family member meetings gave us a good opportunity to make suggestions and hear what was going on in the home.
The family were very pleased that Mother was able to spend her final few years being well looked after in a clean and comfortable environment.

Everything I needed was provided by the staff with courtesy and a smile. From breakfast in my room, provision of fresh water, a shower, drawing my curtains and the medication at the right times. I was so very grateful for the post-operative care I received.

“As Home Manager I believe that our residents should receive the very best bespoke care and support they require to meet their needs, whilst making each day memorable.


I have been blessed to have a very successful career working in the health and social care sector with over 30 years of experience. I trained as a nurse in Hertfordshire and have maintained my registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, after qualifying I worked in A&E before stepping into the community in 2003 where I managed domiciliary care including complex care as clinical lead and then into a care home management.


It is important to me that my team feel valued and supported in their roles, as well as having the opportunity to develop so that our home can thrive and be a happy and beautiful home for everyone.


At Abbeycrest, we are one big family and everything we do is from the heart, treating the people living in our community as individuals understanding their choices, wishes and dreams for no other reason than to make a difference every day.”


I grew up locally and even went to school up the road, I moved away to undertake my nurse training and am pleased to be back in the local area.
