Due to Covid, visits were difficult to arrange. My husband was kept in bed in spite of the fact that I had emphasised that he should sit on a chair some of the time.
This resulted in his legs becoming stuck in one position. His last few months were therefore more painful than need be. He was also allowed
to fall out of bed.
I was in process of complaining when he died and I didn’t have the heart to continue. I wish I had, now.

My late father-in-law moved into Abbeycrest after a series of falls. He had been very independent and it was a challenge for him to give up his home. Our family was relieved that he was in safe purpose-built accommodation with staff on hand day and night. He was a shy person and didn't want to join
in the activities but staff accepted this. At times he was frustrated with his loss of mobility and the carers were very patient with him. He passed away peacefully and we were comforted by the way staff treated him with respect and dignity in his final days at Abbeycrest. Thank you to the team for all his care over the past 16 months.

My mother-in-law moved into Abbeycrest Care Home, Sonning Common in February 2021. In June 2021 she fell out of bed having been left on her side and suffered an Intracranial Haemmorage - five days later she died. The Care Home didn't think she was a high risk of falling out of bed so no bed rails were
put up. She also took in with her to the Care Home an expensive diamond and emerald ring which went missing a few weeks later. The staff and management don't know what happened to it. We chose Abbeycrest because she lived in Sonning Common and wanted to go there - how I wish now we hadn't.

My mother has been a resident at Abbeycrest for a year. On moving there mum was very frail and in urgent need of nursing care. Her needs were immediately addressed, and she has blossomed as a result. The staff have coped admirably throughout the pandemic; all are very professional, dedicated, caring,
and friendly. Communication is good, and helpful regular updates are provided. The quality of the food and daily activities provided are both of a high standard. It is reassuring to know that mum is being so well cared for and I am happy to recommend anyone to consider Abbeycrest Nursing Home.

My 93-year-old mother was in Abbeycrest for four months. She died in June 2021 following a fall from her bed. There were no bed rails in place. She died five days later from an intracranial bleed. The Coroner at her inquest raised serious concerns regarding the risk assessment that had been carried
out. The management at both Abbeycrest and Caring Homes have been very difficult to deal with, showing no compassion nor support after my mother's accidental death. A precious and valuable ring went missing after my mother had been living in Abbeycrest after just a few weeks. It has been most upsetting.

Very happy with the care. The staff are extremely kind and welcoming as well as being highly professional and communicative. Both my parents have been residents since June 2021 and since being at Abbeycrest my mother's overall health has substantially improved and my father is a lot more content.

I didn't have to wait prior to my covid test. The person who dealt with this, was very efficient and friendly. On returning my test, which was negative, I pressed the bell and the same person escorted me to my friend's room. She again continued pleasant conversation. While I was with my friend he rang
the bell for assistance. The staff member dealt with my friend's issue well, even though there was a slight difficulty with understanding what she said. On leaving I was escorted to the lift and taken to the front door, by a cheerful individual. The whole experience was great and I felt valued and looked after. Thank you.

My Father has lived at Abbeycrest for almost 2 years. He was able to visit a number of care homes and chose to live here. We have been extremely happy with the care he has received and the way the staff always treat him with dignity and respect. During this period his needs have changed significantly.
We have been impressed with the way that the staff have responded in a proactive manner. The pandemic has been a very challenging time for everyone, especially in the care sector. Due to excellent management and a dedicated team, Abbeycrest has excelled. Well done and thank you.

My husband, spent 2 weeks respite care from June 7th this year. My son and I visited before deciding, and we were impressed immediately with Abbeycrest Nursing Home. We found it a very welcoming establishment - staff all smiled and spoke to us. The manager gave us a good tour of the home and answered
all our questions. On admittance, again we were made to feel welcome. My husband settled in well. He was moved to the Dementia unit as he began to wander! Whenever I visited, he seemed more than happy to stay. He also enjoyed the food and we know that his care was excellent. I am more than happy to have a return visit for him. Many thanks to all concerned.

I cannot thank Abbeycrest Nursing Home enough for the level of care they gave my Grandad while he was there. The staff are so kind, caring, and considerate, and really do go the extra mile to make the residents feel special; always treating them with dignity and compassion. The range of activities they

My Mum has been a resident in Abbeycrest for 5 years. From the first day we looked around Abbeycrest we knew it was the right place for her as it feels just like home and the staff have always been so friendly and caring. Nothing is too much trouble for any of them. The Manager is outstanding and is
always there if we need any help or advice in a professional manner. The person on reception is so welcoming whether on the phone or when we come to visit mum. During Covid lockdown, it has been so hard not being able to see mum, but we have weekly pictures of the activities they are all doing and its reassuring to know mum is being cared for.

On arriving at Abbeycrest you enter a bright cheerful and welcoming reception area. All the staff were friendly and helpful. My husband's care was excellent with one exception - I felt there were not enough carers on duty between 1.30 and 4 pm. The needs of my husband did not always fit the routine,
In my opinion the carers worked a very long day with short breaks.

I just spent two weeks each day at Abbeycrest visiting my mother who has Alzheimer's and who has just recently gone to live there. I was very impressed and am particularly grateful to three staff members who were so kind to her. (My apologies to those whose names I do not know as everyone seemed kind
and considerate).
I live in Canada and it is so comforting to know that my mum is in such good hands. Thank you all.

I have been blessed to have a very successful career working in the health and social care sector with over 30 years of experience. I trained as a nurse in Hertfordshire and have maintained my registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, after qualifying I worked in A&E before stepping into the community in 2003 where I managed domiciliary care including complex care as clinical lead and then into a care home management.


It is important to me that my team feel valued and supported in their roles, as well as having the opportunity to develop so that our home can thrive and be a happy and beautiful home for everyone.


At Abbeycrest, we are one big family and everything we do is from the heart, treating the people living in our community as individuals understanding their choices, wishes and dreams for no other reason than to make a difference every day.”


I grew up locally and even went to school up the road, I moved away to undertake my nurse training and am pleased to be back in the local area.
