Abingdon Court is a recently refurbished purpose-built care home offering residential, nursing and dementia care.

The 'home from home' feel at Abingdon Court is created by the dedicated staff who have been selected not only for their professional ability but also for their commitment to truly making a difference for the people in their care.

Residents' rooms are spacious and feature en suite facilities. The communal areas are at the centre of what makes Abingdon Court a real community whether it be at meal times or when enjoying activities. There are no fixed visiting hours so friends and family can come and see residents at any time.

The dining experience at Abingdon Court boasts fine home cooking by a professional Chef who has created a menu to reflect the interests and tastes of the discerning residents.

Activities and day trips are an integral part of the residents' well being. The activities coordinator encourages and helps residents continue with existing interests and also introduces new hobbies. The minibus is used frequently to take residents on day trips near and a little further from the home. The trips are very popular and recently, days out to Millets Farm, Notcutts Garden Centre, Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens and Dorchester Abbey have been greatly enjoyed.

Respite care at Abingdon Court is very popular and enables those wishing to experience what the Home has to offer before making a full commitment.

I have found that my father has been very well looked after. His personal care is well tended to and he always looks well dressed and cared for. I know my Dad enjoys the food and is always positive about. The activities are well thought out, including for those who are less able bodied. You always get
the sense that the staff enjoy their jobs and are extremely thoughtful and caring. Contact from the carehome is good and appointments are also kept, with staff from the home attending when needed.

Dad was very happy at Abingdon Court. The quality of care provided was outstanding, and the home was always clean with good quality food - things that were important to Dad. In addition all the staff, including nurses, carers, domestic staff and management were attentive and kind, making for a truely
homely atmosphere. Staff went out of their way to enable Dad to continue to pursue his interests and live life his own way. At the end of his life he was always treated with respect and compassion.
I can recommend Abingdon Court without reservation.

Dad spent a year and 2 weeks at Abingdon Court before he died. Of course we would rather he had been at home but he received such wonderful care it makes his loss easier to bear. His care was provided with compassion, respect and professionalism. The ethos was very much that Dad was at home not in a
facility. Every effort to accommodate our requests was always met. My Mum and I were also treated as one of the family and continue to be. I would definitely recommend them for your loved one or yourself.

Like most people, when the time came to choose a care home for mum, I had had no previous experience. Initial impressions were good. It felt homely, warm and quiet. Sadly, very soon after mum arrived, I had concerns about the lack of interaction between mum and the staff. On every occasion I visited,
(at weekends as I visited from Manchester), mum was sat in a room with other residents. There were maybe one or two staff sitting in the far corner glued to laptops or phones. No interaction, no stimulation, no physical contact, no engagement. I had no idea whether the staff were nursing, care or cleaning but nonetheless, not what I expected. I felt uncomfortable asking questions about mum and her health, even basic questions such as her last meal were difficult. It seemed that only the nurse could tell me how mum was. Eventually, we moved mum into a new care home, and on the day of her departure, the staff fussed over her like she was departing royalty. Too little, too late I'm afraid.

My Mother walked into the care home in Dec 2023. She has Alzheimer's but could communicate, and feed herself, fully continent, very sociable and happy. Six months later we removed her from Abingdon Court as she was no longer able to walk, communicate, or feed herself, incontinent and so anxious she
was sedated 24 hours a day, and never left her bed. All family members felt very uncomfortable visiting the home as the majority of the staff were rude, unhelpful and patronising. My Mother arrived at 10.6 stone and in 6 months she dropped to just over 7 yet no one would sit with her to help her eat. Since moving homes my Mother is no longer sedated during the day, is smiling, has no anxiety attacks, enjoys her food and her quality of life has improved just in one month.

My mother recently passed away peacefully in the care home. The love and care shown to her was exemplary. She was almost 102 years old. She died with dignity, and as a family, we too were treated with love and respect during a difficult time. Abingdon Court Care Home even agreed to host the "Wake".
which was perfect - although we made a donation, they refused to accept any other payment, such kindness, which is rare these days.

Excellent care. All my requests for my aunt were consistently met. Carers were loving and extremely kind.
My aunt cannot do anything for herself and the carers dressed her beautifully and kept her very clean. Even her dentures were put in and out (I've been to care homes where this hasn't been done).
She also sat perfectly upright in her wheelchair. Thank you.

I came to view this home before my uncle arrived and was extremely pleased to see how many staff members were about, attending to the residents, all residents were happy and had a cup of tea. Very warm, friendly place. I saw the meals and they looked lovely, proper home-cooked.
Staff made me feel
very welcome at any time of day. They were very helpful when I needed advice.

I was extremely impressed with the kindness and compassion of all the staff who cared for Mum and also how kind they all were to me and my family. I cannot thank them enough or recommend

My mum came to stay with Abingdon Court Care Home in July 2023. She had Alzheimer’s and was anxious and always unsettled.
The staff were always happy, supportive, compassionate and empathetic and were always there to help my mum.
After my visits, I always left the care home, knowing she was safe
and was in the best hands.
Unfortunately, she passed away in November. Again the staff continued to be supportive of me and were lovely.
I cannot recommend Abingdon Court Care Home enough. Thank you.

My father died on 1st September and had spent 2 years and 3 months in the Care Home. From day one to the last, all members of staff that had supported my father were exceptional and obviously provided first-class caring throughout. I cannot thank them enough.
The only major downside was that the Government
has gone absent without leave to support the caring sector. All staff deserve better and deserve the level of support that they gave my father in his last years.
He would not have lived to the age of 94 without the Care Home providing quality support. Thank You.

From the day my father entered the care home, the staff's care and professionalism were outstanding.
My father spent almost two years at Abingdon Court. His personal care was exceptional, and as his health deteriorated, the carers completed the tasks he was unable to do for himself. He loved a wet
shave, and up to the day he died, this ritual was carried out!
The activities were all designed to help alleviate boredom, and Dad enjoyed joining in.
The staff went above and beyond in caring for him and loved to spend time with him chatting.
Would highly recommend this care home. We had a couple of previous experiences with not such happy results.
From the management at the top to the ancillary staff, it was excellent.
Thank you to everyone at the home.

My father lived to 101 and 5 months and I believe this is due to the care he had at Abingdon Court Care Home.
He was 99 when he went in for respite and stayed! He was so happy and cared for.
I was alwaus made very welcome and my frequent visits to him. I felt part of the family and still do. My
father loved the staff.
The staff are lovely, genuine, caring people. Always ready to help and never mind giving you their time.

Last October. my mum moved here from another care home in her home town to be nearer to me (her son). She passed away on Saturday 29th July.
From the day she arrived, she was actively involved in the regular activities and in a matter of days her mental stimulation, quality of life and enjoyment were
transformed.
The care she received brought her out of her shell and helped improve her mobility and she was soon able to visit me at home in her wheelchair and get back a semblance of normal life.
On every occasion that I raised a query or asked for something to be done, whether with the manager, the carers or the nurses, it was done.
I’m so grateful that she was able to end her days happy and in such a lovely environment. She really enjoyed her time here and it's left me with memories of her laughing and joking and talking to me about all of the activities she was involved in and the friends she had made.
