Banbury Heights is a family-run nursing home that has been providing high-quality, person-centred care to the residents of Banbury since 2003.

At Banbury Heights, each resident has a tailored care plan developed by the nursing home’s team, together with the resident and their family.

Everybody’s needs are different so their care should be too – recognising this at all times is the key to their ethos of work at Banbury Heights.

With fantastic shared spaces, including a light, airy conservatory, residents can spend time with visiting friends and family members in comfort, and private bedrooms offer peace and quiet to read the paper or a good book.

Ideally located just outside the town centre, Banbury Heights Nursing Home is a fantastic place that always puts residents’ needs first and takes pride in the expert care provided.

I was looked after very well. Clean bed, good food - plenty. Tight in space to get around and plenty of attention. Helping in and out of bed which was very helpful. The staff were very good. The young lady who was a very hard worker sorted out different things to do to keep us occupied. Very nice.

It was my father-in-law's 99th birthday earlier this week, and my wife and I were able to spend some quality time with him, despite the constraints of the current Covid-19 guidelines. This was made possible by the wonderfully considerate staff. He had shown some signs of depression in recent weeks,
but the efforts of the staff gave him a great lift. When we visited he was more responsive than he had been for some time, and with the staff singing to him and providing some lovely cake, he was like his old self. A big thank you to the management and staff for the continued great work you do.

Brilliant, helpful, friendly staff. 'Nothing is too much trouble' approach. Accommodated my mum's food likes/dislikes. Took very good care of her mental as well as physical wellbeing.

My husband had Parkinson's for 3 1/2 years and went into Banbury Heights in October 2019 (having had carers and myself looking after him at home). I visited frequently and saw they cared for him well. The carers and nurses were kind and patient, treating him politely and in a friendly way. Following
careful turning in bed and hygiene. His room was quiet, but homely and pleasant. They were scrupulous in giving medication and ensuring he always had a drink to hand. He was on a soft diet and the food was good and homely. The management was friendly and approachable and along with the care staff and nurses, could always find time to discuss any queries.

Following an operation was full of trepidation. Needn't have worried. The atmosphere was good and the attitude of staff I encountered was exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble and at all times staff was there to help. Excellent.

I visited the home today and as usual, was made welcome. The staff are polite and helpful. The resident I visited today is no longer asking to come home so they are settled and happy there, which is easier for me. Hoping they can stay there.

This place is better than a few years ago. The room is nice and meals OK.
Staff are nice too.
However, took one hour twice to come and take my friend to the toilet. No good.

Mum was in a transit/assessment bed with a view to move her down to family 200 miles away. She was very well cared for, looked after with dignity and respect. We visited when we could and both management and staff were extremely helpful and caring, very accommodating, even offering to feed us! Mum,
unfortunately, passed away quite quickly and their handling of the situation with myself and family was exceptional. On talking to our funeral directors, they also sang their praises, saying it was one of the best homes they had dealt with. Very professional.

The first impression I got when entering the home to see my mother was how homely the place felt, also the cleanliness of the place. On entering the day room the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Overall I have been very satisfied with the care my mother has received.

My mother has been in this care home for quite a few weeks. She is sadly leaving this week to go to a residential home in the town my mother and father live, we are going to miss this home so much and wish we could keep Mum there as the staff are so lovely, caring and very welcoming but it’s better
for all the family to get mum in her own town. We would like to take this opportunity and I’m speaking for my father as well, to thank you all so much for taking such good care of my mum. We are going to miss you all and I know mum will as well, bless her! Such a big thank you from all my family.

After a ten day stay in hospital, I went to a hub-bed for rehabilitation. At first, I found it difficult but soon settled in with the help of staff and permanent residents. I enjoyed the quizzes and the singing hut also appreciated being able to go back to my own room if I wanted to be quiet or chat
to some of my visitors.

My husband spent the last two months of his life here and was well looked after by both carers and nursing staff, who were friendly and kind. There was a family atmosphere and I was always warmly welcomed by all staff when visiting. I am glad my husband was able to spend his final days here rather than
in hospital.

We found Banbury Heights to be a warm, homely, friendly and kind environment. All the staff were lovely and my mother-in-law was very well cared for.
Nothing was too much trouble and we felt all staff listened to our concerns and requests very well.
I believe the staff way outshone the actual building
which is very tired and dated, but then my mother-in-law wasn't looking at the decor!! Our experience, our first for all of us, was as good and positive as it possibly could be thanks to all.

Current Review Score: 8.3 (8.318)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.3 (8.318) out of 10 for Banbury Heights Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.0 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.025 for Banbury Heights Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (69 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (6 Poors x 2) + (15 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 119 Ratings = 4.025

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.293 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Banbury Heights Nursing Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 59 registered maximum number of service users is 11.8. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.8 = 0.593

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
