The gardens at The Homestead are a vibrant and therapeutic retreat, offering everything from raised vegetable beds to dementia-friendly pathways. Residents, along with local RAF veterans, helped raise funds for the Garden House, allowing the outdoor space to be enjoyed year-round.

With expert support for conditions ranging from early-stage dementia to advanced care, the team delivers compassionate, personalised care across three self-sufficient floors. Residents can enjoy dedicated dining areas, lounges, and social spaces, while engaging activities like music therapy, robotic pets, and interactive tables support those with dementia.

Our relative moved into The Homestead beginning of March this year as a very independent lady who has lived on her own for 25-plus years and she has found it very hard to adjust. The patience of the management and his team gradually pulled her through the rough times. We are now seeing a much happier
and settled relative. We are so very grateful to all the team on the 1st Floor of The Homestead. Thank you and keep going!

We have been looking for a care home for my mother spending time looking around. After checking out all reviews and following them on social media, we decided to move Mum here. Well, the reviews given don't do this place justice. From the management, staff, carers, and cleaners, to the cooks, they
are all so dedicated to their work and always ready to help and answer any questions that we have about anything. This place is more than we could have hoped for in a care home.

Please read this factual account of why I thoroughly recommend The Homestead care home in Carterton, Oxfordshire. My wife's first remark on seeing her lovely new room for the first time was "It's just like being at home" and that is how her stay proved to be. The wonderful staff, whatever their responsibility,
were so patient, kind and professional. I can't thank them enough. I remain a volunteer at The Homestead because they deserve all the help they can get and always put the residents first.

It was a hard decision to make when my dad moved into The Homestead. Not only was he moving into a care home but also moving away from the area he had lived all his life, being in his nineties it was no mean feat. When I went to look, I was so impressed with how clean the place was and all the staff
were extremely friendly and looked happy in their jobs. Since moving into the home my dad's mental as well as physical well-being has improved. There have been a few teething problems but you only have to let the staff know and they all do their best to sort it out as soon as possible. From the Manager right down to the cleaning staff are amazing, professional but very caring and always entertaining the residents. The food is second to none. Thank you to all the staff for making my life so less stressful just knowing dad is safe and well looked after.

My Dad has been in here for several years now. Lovely staff with a lovely, warm, homely feel. Great care. He's well looked after 24/7 and fed and watered well. Couldn't ask for anything more from a care home. Thank you so much to each and every staff member.

After fracturing her spine, my Mum’s life and mobility changed after being very active she was more or less housebound. So we arranged for her to have a month's respite at the Homestead while she was recovering and whilst her husband was in hospital. Unfortunately, during this time, her husband died
and this is when the Homestead came into its own. The staff were kind, understanding and caring and gave her the support she really needed. She has made good friends and now her life has been turned around with the help and care of all the staff and management at the Homestead. She is cared for in every way which includes stimulating varied entertainment and trips out and about locally. The management team, carers and even the kitchen staff, who produce great food every day, make my Mum’s experience at the Homestead truly brilliant. Family members are always included which makes us relieved that our loved ones are really being cared for. The Homestead is simply the best!

My Dad has been at the Homestead for many years. The staff there have always been kind, compassionate and caring to both - us as a family and my dad with his needs. Being wheelchair-bound this isn't always easy on them or him but he gets good care, a bath more often would be great but we understand
how pushed the staff are sometimes. The staff always go above and beyond to fulfil my Dad's needs, no matter how demanding he can be. The last couple of years have been ever so hard on Dad and the staff with covid19 doing the rounds, lockdown did stop us from seeing Dad, but when we were able to go back to visiting, we felt very safe and all measures were taken to make sure my Dad was safe. The staff are always friendly and happy to help.

Thank you to all the staff at The Homestead for the kindness, consideration, respect and care given to my Aunt during the pandemic. My Aunt has been at the Homestead for six years and is now 97. I can honestly say that she was given a new lease of life when she moved in and that is due to the level
of care that she has received and continues to receive every day. After being an independent woman all her life, she values her privacy but has been encouraged to take part in activities and outings that she has thoroughly enjoyed. Her room is spacious, comfortable and clean and she is able to move around in and out of her room as much as she likes. The food is excellent and plentiful and she enjoys the variety. I always look forward to a cup of tea and a cake with her when I visit and we are both looking forward to the day when we can enjoy that treat again! Hopefully, that will be soon! I contact her regularly, knowing she is in good hands! I highly recommended The Homestead!

All the staff are excellent, they go above and beyond to make sure my mother is catered for and happy. They always welcome me and the family and answer any questions regarding my mother promptly. Moving our Mum into care was a huge and daunting step for her and us, especially during a pandemic. From the outset, the care and support from the MHA team was incredible. Staff are caring, respectful, funny and attentive. Everything is kept spotlessly clean. There is always something going on and a
wide range of activities to take part in. The lady who heads up the activity program is full of ideas to entertain the residents - she makes sure there is never a dull moment. The home manager has shown great empathy towards relatives in trying to maintain contact with their loved ones, under such difficult conditions. Whilst putting the safety of residents first and following government guidelines, he has also ensured relatives have been able to maintain safe contact. His thoughtful approach has been very welcome. He is also a great dancer and my mum loves him. Mum loves her new home, her carers, her new friends and feels safe and happy. It’s a great relief.

The Homestead and their staff look after my very ill mother wonderfully. They treat her with the utmost dignity and care. They truly understand what it means to have a loved one suffering from dementia and they treat her with respect. They are proactive and totally look for ways to make sure my mother
is getting the medical care she needs. She also benefits from music therapy which is wonderful - we are so lucky. The home manager is excellent and I can see that she is well respected by staff. I believe staff morale is high in the Homestead. The food is very good. A previous care home had a lot of fried food for my mum and it was not good at all. Here at the Homestead the food looks nutritious, tasty and well balanced.

My mother has been living at the Homestead since July 2018. I have always found the staff really kind and caring and they go out of their way to make Mum comfortable and maintain her dignity despite her dementia. During the Covid 19 virus lockdown it has been really hard not being able to see Mum in
the usual way but the staff have been absolutely amazing at keeping me in touch with posts, calls, outdoor visits and, at last, now that it is possible indoor visits. I always feel reassured that Mum is getting all the care she needs and she always seems happy and calm. Thank you to all of the staff and to the manager.

My overall experience of the home is very good. Staff are always helpful. Due to Covid, I have not been able to join in any of the activities or other things that usually go on. When I visit Mum, she always seems clean and well cared for.

My father, sister and I have been visiting my mother at Homestead for over 6-years now. Sadly, during the hight of COVID, we weren’t able to see her, but the staff kept in regular contact. We have never had to worry about Mum's care. The staff are wonderful, not only to Mum but they are so kind and
helpful to my father when he visits. The home itself always looks fresh, clean and welcoming. We can’t thank the team enough for looking after Mum so well, all these years. Particularly in such difficult times.

My mum has been in The Homestead for about 18 months, she has settled well with the help and kindness of all the staff. I cannot speak highly enough of the care they have given my mum she is always treated with the utmost respect and dignity. We have had a difficult time over the past few months after
a short spell in hospital, but the staff are always there to support my mum and myself as her needs change. I would certainly recommend The Homestead, it's a home where you know your loved ones will be safe and looked after with an excellent standard of care which they deserve.
