Located in the heart of Carterton, near the scenic Cotswolds, MHA The Homestead offers a bright, modern environment where residents can truly thrive. Built in 2008, the spacious home provides residential and dementia care for up to 68 residents.

The gardens at The Homestead are a vibrant and therapeutic retreat, offering everything from raised vegetable beds to dementia-friendly pathways. Residents, along with local RAF veterans, helped raise funds for the Garden House, allowing the outdoor space to be enjoyed year-round.

With expert support for conditions ranging from early-stage dementia to advanced care, the team delivers compassionate, personalised care across three self-sufficient floors. Residents can enjoy dedicated dining areas, lounges, and social spaces, while engaging activities like music therapy, robotic pets, and interactive tables support those with dementia.

My mother has been living at the Homestead since July 2018. I have always found the staff really kind and caring and they go out of their way to make Mum comfortable and maintain her dignity despite her dementia. During the Covid 19 virus lockdown it has been really hard not being able to see Mum in
the usual way but the staff have been absolutely amazing at keeping me in touch with posts, calls, outdoor visits and, at last, now that it is possible indoor visits. I always feel reassured that Mum is getting all the care she needs and she always seems happy and calm. Thank you to all of the staff and to the manager.

My overall experience of the home is very good. Staff are always helpful. Due to Covid, I have not been able to join in any of the activities or other things that usually go on. When I visit Mum, she always seems clean and well cared for.

My father, sister and I have been visiting my mother at Homestead for over 6-years now. Sadly, during the hight of COVID, we weren’t able to see her, but the staff kept in regular contact. We have never had to worry about Mum's care. The staff are wonderful, not only to Mum but they are so kind and
helpful to my father when he visits. The home itself always looks fresh, clean and welcoming. We can’t thank the team enough for looking after Mum so well, all these years. Particularly in such difficult times.

My mum has been in The Homestead for about 18 months, she has settled well with the help and kindness of all the staff. I cannot speak highly enough of the care they have given my mum she is always treated with the utmost respect and dignity. We have had a difficult time over the past few months after
a short spell in hospital, but the staff are always there to support my mum and myself as her needs change. I would certainly recommend The Homestead, it's a home where you know your loved ones will be safe and looked after with an excellent standard of care which they deserve.

I cannot praise the wonderful staff at the Homestead enough. From my initial enquiry through the lovely home Manager and her colleagues, my mind was immediately put at rest that we had found the right place for my Mother. When I see my mum settled in her beautiful room surrounded by all her home comforts
I cannot believe she is in a care home it’s more like a hotel. My mum is 90 and finds walking a struggle and due to this is prone to falls, I am now able to sleep at night knowing my mum is a button push away to access lovely caring staff who attend to her needs quickly and responsively. My mum like many older people is still fiercely independent and although she is not able to do everything for herself even though she thinks she can, the staff recognise this and treat her with dignity and respect and offer assistance if she needs it and never assume that she can’t manage to do things for herself, they are so kind and caring and absolutely nothing is too much trouble for them.

The staff are all caring and supportive of residents and families. They ensure participation in the many activities in a very personal way. The music therapy and musical activities are particularly good at getting my mum involved and communicating. I am very happy that she is in such a safe, caring

My father very reluctantly left his own home to move to The Homestead but the experienced staff helped him make this transition. He quickly grew to love the routine, care and company that the setting provided.
My father lived at The Homestead for almost 3 years before passing away earlier this year.
He always received the best care appropriate to his deteriorating ill health. The staff were always caring, knowledgeable, available and I always felt they had time for my father and the other residents.


I was always welcomed on my many visits whatever the time of day, and I was kept up to date on his progress and care. My family were very grateful that my father was able to spend his last days in a place he considered his home surrounded by people he knew and that cared for him.

My father stayed at The Homestead for a very short time approximately 4 months. During that time, however, I could not fault the care that he received. The staff were absolutely lovely and I know he enjoyed their company and attention in his final months. It made his life happier and much more comfortable.
The facilities and rooms were always clean and food excellent. He was treated with respect dignity and friendship throughout his stay. I cannot thank the staff enough.

All staff and carers are very vigilant in knowing each individual's needs. Food and drink are always at hand and each resident is treated with respect as to their likes and dislikes. Nothing is too much trouble and care is taken seriously with regards to meals and fluid intake etc. Overall the care
and atmosphere within the home make it a very happy place to live. My mother has been there for four years now and each day she smiles with sheer contentment and wanting for nothing.
