My elderly friend came into the home at very short notice and the staff have been delightful towards her. Always positive and always helpful, one of them even offering to dance with her at an afternoon prosecco party! The staff's wealth of experience and smiling stance means that difficult situations
are diffused very easily and my friend has fallen in love with all the nurses. One of the key questions to be addressed by my friend was "What is the food like?!" I am happy to say she is thrilled with the food and the fact that if she has a special preference, they will prepare it for her. I would recommend this care home to everybody. In fact, I am thinking of putting my name down now!

I stayed at The Old Prebendal House for 9 nights following a hip replacement operation, after which I had spent four night in the hospital. The apartment where I stayed was comfortable, and I was impressed by the thoughtfulness that had gone into equipping it for my needs - a raised lavatory seat with
arms, an adjustable bed for heights and for raising the head or feet ends as needed and chairs with arms and seat high enough for my needs. The staff were kind, caring and respectful. The views of the garden were lovely from my sitting room and bedroom windows, and a number of staff accompanied me for a short walk. The atmosphere is happy and caring, and I felt ready and able to cook a meal when I came home after respite care. The medical report from the hospital was respected, and the necessary medications and injections were given to me.

My relative entered the home at the start of lockdown, and it is not possible to evaluate all aspects of the review due to restrictions and little access. However, the management is very accessible and responsive, communication is good, staff members are all courteous and helpful. My relative reports

This house is set in the beautiful Cotswold countryside which is steeped in history, surrounded by beautiful gardens with a river running through. This perfect mansion has a large number of associated cottages and flats all around and a very old historic church right next to the manor. The management
and staff are excellent in all respects. My stay was during the viral period and I feel I cannot comment fairly, but the staff coped extremely well. catering was out of this world. More facilities (swim pool) and activities needed, but very relaxing.

My brother bought a flat in Old Prebendal Court about a year ago. The location and gardens are delightful, the flat comfortable, well-appointed and, because it is on the upper floor, light. He was able to take his meals in Old Prebendal House, which also provided cleaning, laundry and other services.
Unfortunately, his health decayed rapidly and he could not enjoy his flat for long. Fortunately, he was able to transition smoothly to nursing care in Old Prebendal House, where he remains.

My mother was a fiercely independent lady who knew exactly what sort of accommodation she wanted. She loved the flat she purchased - the views over the river and gardens are so beautiful. She was reassured, as was I, that the House was on hand if needed. The staff are all so helpful. Sadly she had to
transfer to the House for her last few days because of illness, but because she knew all of the staff this was a place she felt safe in. As a family, we feel that we couldn't have found a better place for her last few years.

My mother has been resident on The Old Prebendal estate for nearly 10 years since early 2019 in the care home, previously in an apartment in the court section. My father was also in the care home for several years, he has now passed on. I have nothing but respect, admiration and gratitude for the care
and attention they have received and their wonderful quality of life.

This is a home form home. Everywhere we are met with cheerful smiley faces. Nothing is too much trouble, my husband is receiving excellent care and he is now relaxed and after a very hard time, he is now making positive progress. The staff took my mother under their wing following her hospital stay. She is now a permanent resident and we cannot praise highly enough the care and attention she has received. She is happily settled into her new environment and we know she is in a place of safety and well cared for. Nothing has been
too much for the staff in making her comfortable.

Delighted with the care that my mother receives at The Old Prebendal House. She is extremely contented. She is well cared for by the staff and enjoys the food provided as well as the extra facilities such as the on-site hairdresser and exercise class. She has thrived over the last 6 years.

My mother, aged 93, has lived here for over three years and has received excellent care. The management is very supportive and proactive, while the staff are caring and professional. I live abroad and am able to have complete peace of mind that my mother is in the best of hands.

Having been here in the past when recuperating from a hip replacement, I returned about ten days ago after collapsing at home whilst caring for my husband, who has early dementia. I have again experienced the greatest kindness and good care which the staff here give to all the residents - either full
- or short term ones and as I write this today, on August 12th 2019, on my return home I am really sorry to be leaving.

My wife spent her final days at The Old Prebendal House. From the initial assessment at the hospital, the home showed nothing but kindness and positive encouragement. The standard of care during her short stay was exceptional; nothing too much trouble, and the nursing staff very attentive. I know my
wife appreciated the attention she got. A very warm atmosphere pervaded. I do not think we could have found a better place.

My Mother was a resident at The Old Prebendal House for a short time after a lengthy stay in hospital. From the start, the Manager made us all feel very welcome. She visited my Mum in hospital to do an assessment and told us she would be delighted to welcome Mum as a guest at TOPH. From the day she
arrived, the care she received was excellent - nursing, support and even down to the Maintenance Manager who couldn't have done any more to make the room nicer. With new owners and rumoured new investment, I think it can only get better. All in all, I'd highly recommend TOPH.

My sister with mild learning disabilities and vascular dementia has been here for over 3 years. She is very happy here, loved and spoiled by staff and she calls it home. The staff are always respectful to her and to me. There is no smell, lovely rooms and ambience and flowers everywhere. My sister is
as happy here as I have seen her in other residential homes for over 20 years. The place feels calm and happy generally.

Our 91-year-old mother lived at The Old Prebendal House for 2 years before she became ill. She chose to return to the home to spend her last few days. She was warmly welcomed back from the hospital and she felt very much at home. The staff were all very sensitive and caring to her and also to me and
my sister who chose to stay with her until she died. I strongly recommend the home for its excellent care.

Adrian will be celebrating 20 years as Maintenance Manager at The Old Prebendal House in January 2020!


Adrian's job role is varied - looking after all things maintenance in the main house and also with the independent living cottages and apartments. He ensures all equipment at the home is regularly serviced and is also our chief Fire Warden.


He is a familiar face to our Court Residents who he drives to Burford weekly for their shopping trip!
