Both my parents have been lucky enough to live at Rush Court. My mother for two years and my father for three. They have now both passed away. This is no ordinary nursing home. Every resident is treated as an individual and their personal space is respected. The range of activities is extremely varied
and is designed for both the intellectual and physical wellbeing of the residents. The staff turnover is very low and this creates continuity and a real sense of team. The standard of personal and medical care is outstanding. The rooms and grounds are delightful, the communal areas of the highest standard and the food al freshly cooked with multiple choices. The carers are exceptional, courteous, professional and dedicated. The respect both my parents were shown during their last years and at the time of death was beyond anything in my experience. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

What can I say about the loving care that my Da received at Rush Court? The manager who is in charge of the home is wonderful and sets the bar very high for her staff. She is involved in all aspects of her residents care and her staff maintain her high standards. No single aspect of my Da's care was
ever neglected and I could not have improved the service in any way, a service which included care for me too as I faced the end of a loved one's life. I cannot praise this home too much, the food was marvelous, the surroundings exceptional, the staff dedicated and professional. 10/10. Thank you.

My father received exemplary care at Rush Court. Firstly though, it is such a lovely place. It's in a beautiful setting with lovely gardens, and the home is very tastefully and elegantly decorated. I loved the dignity provided to the residents and the emphasis on the staff being there to attend to the
needs and wishes of the residents and the patients, rather than the other way round. All of the staff are warm and welcoming and I was always greeted with smiles during my visits.


The staff not only care for the residents, but they also care for the relatives, especially when in my case, my father neared the end of his life. We couldn't have been more pleased with the response from the team. As there were no spare rooms in the nursing wing, they bought the nursing care to my father, which meant he could stay in familiar surroundings and be cared for by people who knew him well. We are so grateful and I couldn't recommend Rush Court more.

I spent 5 weeks at Rush Court, recovering from a severe medical condition and had outstanding nursing, care and warmth from everybody at Rush Court. I arrived unable to walk and left walking half a mile. The manager and all her team are truly exceptional people.

Both my parents are at Rush Court, my father in the residential wing until his death last month, my mother in nursing after having a major stroke leaving her disabled and with dementia. I cannot fault any aspect of their care, from the first time we visited the home and met the manager, to the way they
handled my father's last days with dignity and compassion. Everyone who works there is unfailingly friendly and helpful and they have been so kind, both to my parents and to myself. I wish this level of care was available to everyone and not just to those who can afford the high cost.

It gives me great solace to know that I could not have given my mother any better possible care in her old age, other than at Rush Court.
I was always greeted with a warm smile and at no time was anything too much trouble.
It truly was her 'family'. None more so than when she returned from a short
spell in hospital. The care, love and devotion shown by the staff was amazing.

My mother was at Rush Court for just under 8 years and was looked after brilliantly during this time. The staff were caring and considerate and the daily activities and trips outside the home were so helpful in distracting from routine.
The gardens at Rush Court are beautiful and so well looked after
and my mother particularly enjoyed a trip around them as often as weather permitted.

It is never easy decision to move one's parent into a home especially after they have been so independent but my mother settled in well and for us, it was like having an extra family as we were always made to feel so welcome on our visits.
The staff were wonderful and we could not have asked for better
care.
She was treated with love and respect. The dedication and tender care shown to all residents not just by the carers and nurses but also the catering and housekeeping staff was truly reassuring and great to see.
She loved the garden there and enjoyed the many activities on offer such as flower arranging, cookery and went on some fun excursions. She was a resident for 8 years, a long time, but how lucky we were to know we had chosen such a beautiful home in an idyllic rural setting.

The whole team at Rush Court gave our step mum truly magnificent care during her stay over the past three years.
The attentiveness to her needs by all the staff at all levels and in all areas was really exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble. She always looked so beautifully clean and well cared
for, even in her final weeks. She grew to be very happy at Rush Court, almost always at peace and smiling. She loved the imaginative outings and events and was always reading the monthly diary to look forward to the next one. 
She loved her room in residential and later in nursing, with the views over the vineyard, and we were astonished at how her appetite grew; she so appreciated the meals and afternoon teas. 
We were always kept so well informed with patient explanations of every twist and turn of her health, and we were always made so welcome when we visited together with our dogs. We will truly miss our visits now that she has passed away.

My mother was a resident of Rush Court for two and a half years. During the last year of her stay, she had many falls. The care home did their utmost to help her changing rooms, colour and contrast of carpets, door handles. They put a motion sensor in her room at the bed and chair so that staff knew
when she was on the move so that they mitigate her falls.
She died in August 2017 following complications after a fall. Throughout the care home was excellent keeping me informed and providing aid to my mother she was in very good hands.

The building and gardens are absolutely beautifully maintained, immaculate.
The choices of interior decoration stunning.
Food all home cooked, varied and good.
The few social events we attended were really excellent - even our Christmas dinner!
All staff were very pleasant and caring.
When my mother
became confused and unable to make herself understood I felt the nursing staff to be reactive rather than proactive in her care.

Rush Court has provided my mother with excellent care. She has needed a high level of nursing care throughout the day and night. The staff have treated her with care, respect and compassion. Initially, my mother was reluctant to socialise and take part in activities, but with encouragement, she has
been on various excursions and has responded well to the obvious care and affection shown. There is a lovely atmosphere and the inside of the building is very well maintained as are the grounds and gardens. My sister and I are extremely grateful for the care shown.

My Father spent 3 years at Rush Court. During his time there I felt the care he received was fantastic. As my Father was from a much older era the fact that the majority of the carers first language was English made settling in for him at the home a lot easier as he was hard of hearing and didn't always
easily understand. The staffs caring nature towards him was exceptional and this was sometimes extended to me as well.


The grounds are beautiful and I will certainly miss visiting Rush Court.

I have worked in Adult Social Care since the mid-1980s, starting out as Volunteer, and working my way up into Management in the early 1990s.


During my career, I have worked both within the Public & Private sector, managing services ranging from small group homes for young adults with a physical and/or learning disability to large Nursing & Residential Homes. Whilst my background is not in nursing, I have developed extensive knowledge & understanding of the clinical aspects of care.


I am passionate about supporting older people and providing the highest standards of care that are truly person-centred. I believe to achieve this comes from engaging individuals whose personal value base is aligned with that my own and the ethos of EFHL. I am committed to supporting my colleagues to develop themselves both personally & professionally through coaching, mentoring & training, and empowering them to be their best.
