My grandmother was a resident at Southerndown Care Home from September 2022 - May 2023, when she passed away aged 100.
The care provided was fantastic. The care home was a pleasant place to visit and residents always appeared content.
They provided the family with a lovely home when we could no longer
cope with my grandmother at home. We would recommend Southerndown without reservation.

My late father and my 94-year-old mother have received excellent care from nurses, carers, cleaners and the manager. They have cooperated with my sister and me when we have raised issues. My only negative is that the lift hasn't been for approximately 2 months which has added to my mother's mental confusion.
The best thing would be to buy a new one.

Some staff are not good on night duty! Lift out of action (2-3 weeks working) in one year! Help to make sure clothes are returned properly. Help when finished on the toilet/or dressing and undressing and making sure that clothing is down and comfortably tucked in! Curtains hanging off rails for 1 year
in two places on landings! Why can the owner be in a nontaxable country and not worry?

Mum has been here now for 5 months and is as settled as can be. Southerndown is a warm and caring environment and I am much reassured by the thoughtfulness and friendliness of the staff towards my mum, they seem to be doing the very best they can to care for her. When I asked Mum how she'd describe

The level of care and compassion shown towards my mother at the home during her difficult last few months made me realise we had done the right thing. Although my sister was only a resident at Southerndown for a few months, she could not have found a better home. For the first time in 2-3 years after the initial week or two, I have not found her so contented. The staff are kind and caring and there is generally a lovely atmosphere in the home.

Generally very positive. My father is treated with kindness and respect. He is unable to ask for things or mistakenly believes he cannot have them, so constant offering of drinks and snacks would be welcome. The room is not smart but is adequate.

My 90-year-old mum recently spent a few days at Southerndown Care home in order to be able to attend her granddaughter's wedding. She was a little nervous about coming but was soon put at ease by the caring and compassionate staff, who did everything to make sure that the stay went smoothly. Her medication
was handled extremely efficiently and we were also impressed by the quality of the food. The whole stay went very smoothly and as well as attending the wedding, mum felt that she had had a little holiday. Thank you to the fantastic team at Southerndown for making this possible.

My mum was placed here as her dementia deteriorated very quickly after my brother's death and she could no longer be cared for by my father who was 90.
I didn't know a lot about dementia before this point, as my mum was only diagnosed a few months before she moved here. However, the team and manager
were so helpful, answering all of my questions and helping my mum settle in.
I truly admire the staff and the job they do at Southerndown. They are always patient, happy, and engaging with people in their care. My mum seemed to know everyone in Memory Lane very quickly, and when I came to visit, they were always happy to chat, and I could just tell my mum was happy in what could have been a very stressful time (sadly, my dad passed away while she was here).
The facilities are of high standard and Mum always speaks very positively about the food (especially the cake!).
Huge thank you to everyone at Southerdown for supporting me and Mum during her stay.

My mother stayed at Southerndown for the last year of her life. I could not be more pleased with the service they provided. Her stay was well managed, with attentive, efficient and friendly staff. The nurses always kept the family well informed of her progress, but above all, throughout her stay my
mother was happy, content and very comfortable, which was reassuring for our family.

My mother was taken into Southerndown as a 96-year-old palliative care patient. She was not eating and barely taking fluids. My mother was put in a pleasant room with a proper hospital (adjustable) bed.
The staff were extremely kind and attentive during her short say and always thoughtful to the needs
of the family.
My mother passed away peacefully on the 21st of March 2022.

When we found the urgent need to place our mother in a care home, I was pleased when I contacted Southerndown to be able to discuss everything with the manager, who was very informative, understanding and helpful. She was able to offer Mum a place a few days later. The nurses and carers on Memory Lane
have been wonderfully caring and supportive, enabling Mum to settle in a short time. She is definitely having more of a social life and stimulation than when she was living in her own home with a live-in carer. We are satisfied that she is receiving the best possible care in her circumstances.

I came to Southerndown for two weeks to be looked after following my hip operations at the hospital. I have been very well looked after; the food has been excellent, also the nursing care. The tablets I need have always been brought to me at the correct time. Should I require help in the future, I would
not hesitate to return.

Southerndown staff cared for my mother from January 2019 until her death from old age in October 2021. She received care, kindness, compassion, superb medical care, company and respect. The home is taking excellent care of my dad. They are always really informative and helpful especially one member of staff in particular. He has been great. Hi, I'm Shilpa and I am the General Manager here at Southerndown Care Home.


I have been a registered nurse since 2012 and elder care is my passion. Before working at Southerndown I was the Deputy Manager at one of our sister homes.


I love working for Barchester and leading the team in the care and support of residents to provide a quality service that meets their individual needs. We have a truly lovely home and a fantastic team.


At Southerndown we are creating a community that is as homely, happy and active as possible. Striving to make sure the residents are leading interesting fulfilled lives is at the centre of our aims here. We treat every resident with the care that we would want to be shown to our own family.

Hi, I am Subra, I am the Deputy General Manager here at Southerndown Care Home.


I have been working at Southerndown Care Home since July 2021. I have completed a B.Sc. Nursing and gained very good knowledge from my time in a Surgical Intensive Care Unit in India.


I am passionate about my job and I love caring for the elderly. I started my journey in Southerndown as a Pre-registered Nurse before I became a Registered General Nurse. I have been promoted to Deputy General Manager since March 2023. I am happy to take on the new role and support our General Manager in creating an outstanding care home environment.


Currently, I am doing my NVQ-5 (Diploma in Leadership and Management) to further develop my leadership skills.

Hello there, I'm Andrei and I am the Second Chef and part of the hospitality team at Southerndown Care Home.


I joined the team as a General Assistant in 2017 before transferring to the care team as a Care Assistant for 3 years, following which I supported the home with maintenance for a short period before joining the kitchen team, where I believe I've found my place. The home and management here have been super supportive and we all work together to ensure the home runs smoothly, it's so important.


My favourite thing about my job is seeing the residents enjoy our food, and the meals we prepare. Seeing empty plates is a reward for me and the kitchen team.


In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my lovely wife, walking my dog and visiting the theatre and cinema and a spot of cycling when time allows.

Hello, my name is Charity and I am one of the Care Assistants here at Southerndown Care Home.


I joined the home in 2022 and I absolutely adore my job, caring for our Residents. I have many years’ worth of experience in the care industry and could not think of a more rewarding job to do. I like to help people and when I see them happy it brings me joy.


Outside of work, I have four children who keep me very busy, but an important part of my life is my church community, where I volunteer at food banks, soup kitchens and coffee mornings. I like to cook African cuisine, but I do love a good roast potato too!

Hi my name is Tracey and I've been part of the housekeeping team here at Southerndown since 2022. 


I enjoy working as part of a team to make sure the home is kept fresh, clean and tidy and I support Residents to remain as independent as possible.


By far the best part of my job is the Residents, they all bring their own individual stories and experiences and they are always keen to share these with me when I am cleaning their room.

Job Title: Head Housekeeper

Hi, my name is Sasha and I am the Head Housekeeper at Southerndown Care Home.


I started my journey at Southerndown as a Senior Carer, which I thoroughly enjoyed and was the foundation for me here. Over the years though I have supported different roles across all departments including, activities and hospitality. I love the Whole Home Approach here at Southerndown - everyone chips in.


I joined our wonderful Housekeeping Team in 2024 and I take immense pride in maintaining the home that exudes warmth, comfort and cleanliness. I approach every task with dedication and care and I enjoy transforming a room into a serene sanctuary for our wonderful Residents.


Housekeeping is not just a job for me, but a fulfilling passion that brings both satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment.


In my spare time, I love spending time with my family and grandchildren and travelling the world with my husband.

Hello, I'm Adrian and I am a Care Assistant here at Southerndown Care Home.


I joined the team in 2017 as a Night Care Assistant and I feel completely fulfilled by my job every day. I enjoy caring for our Residents and making sure they are settled and rested at night time. I remember my parents and grandparents and I only wish they would have had the same care, attention and support our Residents receive at Southerndown. I am very proud of my work, the home and my colleagues.


I am originally from Romania, where in my younger years I played 1st league football, however those days are sadly behind me, but I am now a keen football follower and support Liverpool football club.
