    These services are: Personal care, accommodation,

    We currently have a welcome offer available for new residents funding their own care at Westgate House. The offer includes free hairdresser/barber services, chiropody, daily newspaper of your choice and toiletry gift set on arrival.

    Services NOT included in price are: dentistry, chiropody,
    physiotherapy, occupational therapy, opticians, hairdressing,
    medications, toiletries, clothing, newspapers/magazines.
    During your stay, you may need to purchase additional goods
    and services. If they are able to provide such goods and
    services, they will tell you how much these goods and services
    will cost and they expect that you will pay for these goods and
    services at the time you request them.
    They can accompany loved ones to private appointments,
    however the fee attached to this is £21 per hour. Where private taxi
    services are used for transportation to appointments the cost should
    be paid for by yourself.

My mother was resident at Westgate House from September 2018 with rapid onset dementia.
We as a family have nothing but praise and admiration for all the staff and management of Skylark wing.
Mum was always very well cared for and treated with such respect.
Never a harsh or irritated word was ushered
towards any resident.
As mum approached the final days of her life we were fully supported to bring mum home.
She died graciously, bravely and peacefully surrounded by all her family.
We will be forever grateful to the manager and all his wonderful team who enabled mum to live with dementia in such a caring and nurturing home.
Thank you, all of you.

My mums short stay at Westgate House was very happy. The staff treated her very kindly, and her care was excellent. The carers were so kind and thoughtful. The management of Westgate House were always there to help, and went above their duties. Westgate House is excellent.

Overall, I have been very happy with the care Mum has received. She settled quickly and seemed very relaxed. The staff listened to my concerns and acted on them as they were able.


We are moving Mum as our 'first choice home' now has a vacancy and after much deliberation as a family, feel this is

the right move for our mum.


We also feel that the prices at Westgate House are quite high.

My mother has been resident at Westgate House for just a few weeks. I have found the staff to be helpful, caring and supportive. Nothing is too much trouble and they are all respectful of mums needs and are keen to help her to settle into her new home.
Her room and bathroom are always spotlessly clean
and tidy as are all areas of Westgate House.
The activity leader is wonderfully encouraging and full of fresh ideas to stimulate the residents.

We found the home very welcoming to my father in a time of sudden family crisis. The Manager and senior staff were always available and everyone went to great trouble to help him feel comfortable. He was encouraged to join in with the varied activities on offer and although he struggled with the idea
of staying at the care home, I feel it would be hard to improve on Westgate House.

My mother moved to Westgate House a month ago. She is frail, but comfortable and well cared for. The caring and nursing staff are very attentive. The home is purpose-built and has high standards. There is a relaxed atmosphere at the home which welcomes visitors and relatives, with meeting areas, etc.,
which visitors can use with residents.


The management and senior nursing staff went 'the extra mile' to help organise a difficult transfer to Westgate House from another home in a different part of the country.

I and my family have been very satisfied with the care my mother has received while being in Westgate House since March 2010. Since those early years, we wonder if there are as many staff on the wing at times. It would be good if attention could be paid to the call bells. They often ring continuously
and are not from Kingfisher wing always. They are very disturbing.

My mother-in-law is not happy to be in any care home. She likes to be independent but would like to see people more often in her room. My mother-in-law says that is because she can't hear unless her hearing aids are put in and people stand too far from her when they ask her things. I would like to add
that we as a family, think Westgate House is very nice.

My husband first came here end of November 2017. He had been very ill and was very confused. When he began to realise where he was, he became very agitated and cross. The staff were really kind and supportive to him, me and our family. They couldn't have been more caring. My husband has now settled
more and is less confused.

It is most reassuring to know that my mother is well looked after and is in a warm and welcoming environment. She enjoys the fact that everyone refers to her by her first name. She enjoys feeling part of something worthwhile and the staff are able to tailor things to each resident's specific needs.

The care my father in law receives is second to none. Since his recent admission, he has been fully supported to settle in well. The carers are friendly and welcoming when we visit and are always integrating with the residents and are brilliant at communicating with the family when required.


It was

a big step trying to find a place that we felt would be suitable and a home from home for my father in law when it became apparent he needed to go into a care environment. We could not have found anywhere better than Westgate House and feel happy that he is in a safe and happy caring place.

My dad was taken to hospital and had occasion to stay there for a few days. The hospital, as usual, wanted him to vacate the bed as soon as possible and his Care Leader spent a lot of time and effort in ensuring that he returned to Westgate when he was able to be looked after again (above and beyond
his remit I think). On return to Westgate he was greeted by a welcoming party. Thanks to the Care Leaders. Thanks to you all.

Daniela

Daniela Midwinter

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2020

Daniela is the Home Manager of Westgate House. She has over 20 years of experience in the care industry and holds an active PIN for a registered nurse. She has also completed her diploma in nursing which she studied back in her native country, Slovakia.


Daniela has been working in a variety of hospital wards, but her passion has gravitated her towards elderly care. Daniela has been living in the UK since 2004 and joined the Trust in 2020 after being a Nursing Manager in another home for many years. Daniela has previously worked as ‘Head of Care’ and has a great passion for delivering a high standard of care. She moved her way up to the Home Manager role within a year of joining the Trust.


Daniela has attended many different in-house training sessions over the years which has helped her to improve the level of care she delivers, as well as helping her to effectively lead her team and ensure teamwork is thorough throughout.

Rose Ramadhani

Job Title: Head of Care

Joined: 2004

Rose is a Registered General and Mental Health Nurse with over 30 years of nursing experience. She also holds the Registered Manager's Award qualification. Having worked at Westgate House for 20 years, Rose is highly dedicated to providing exceptional care.


Rose's passion lies in creating an environment that promotes respect, independence, dignity, involvement, and a sense of belonging and fulfilment for all residents. Roe's extensive experience and commitment to high-quality care are at the heart of her approach to leading the care team at Westgate House.


Marie

Marie Hazell

Job Title: Activity Coordinator

Joined: 2021

Marie joined the Trust during the COVID pandemic as a tester and administrator. In 2021, she became the permanent Activities Coordinator (AC). Before joining OSJCT, Marie worked for 20 years at RAF Benson, managing events and social activities, a role that has greatly benefited her work as an AC.


In her spare time, Marie looks after her 11 grandchildren, ranging in age from 3 to 23. She has a passion for arts and crafts, particularly crocheting and knitting, which she incorporates into her role with residents.


Marie’s favourite part of the job is ensuring residents are socially engaged, especially through arts and crafts activities, as well as quizzes!


Lisa

Lisa Goddard

Job Title: Bursar

Joined: 2022

Lisa joined the Trust in November 2022 and is the Bursar at Westgate House. Before this, she spent 22 years in domiciliary care as a Care Coordinator, where she handled office responsibilities like rostering, recruitment, payroll, and compliance, while also stepping in to provide care in the field when needed.


Lisa joined OSJCT for a better work-life balance and loves spending time with the residents, saying they are the best part of her role.


In her spare time, Lisa enjoys spending time with her nephew, niece, and family, as well as catching up with friends.


Kirsty

Kirsty McCann

Job Title: Admin Assistant

Joined: 2024

Kirsty joined the Trust in March 2024 as an Administrator, after working in admin for a construction company for 20 years. Wanting a more people-focused environment, she made a complete career change. Having previously volunteered in youth centres and with adults with learning difficulties, Kirsty knew she wanted a role in care.


Kirsty uses her skills to manage all clerical tasks and enjoys giving show rounds to visitors. She loves the homely feel of Westgate House and finds working with the residents incredibly rewarding.


Outside of work, Kirsty enjoys walking her Staffy puppy, Betsy, with her husband. She’s also an avid runner, regularly taking part in half marathons and running three times a week.
