Barchester Ashford House Care Home is located near Staines, in the village of Stanwell.

The home provides 24-hour expert care for people living with dementia in the specialist Memory Lane Community.

It is proud to be one of the first homes to be accredited as part of Barchester’s Dementia Care programme, reflecting the enhanced quality of dementia care and improved quality of life experienced by the residents at Ashford House.

A team of highly-qualified and attentive staff really focuses on the individual needs of residents with a tailored care plan for each person.

Staff's dedication can be seen across the board - in the cooking, hospitality and organised activities for residents.

Activities are tailored to the individual interests of residents and there is an ongoing life box project in which residents can compile memories and treasured items. Other activities include pet therapy and musical entertainment.

My parents are generally well looked after and the nursing supervision is of a high standard. It does give me peace of mind that my parents are closely monitored and any issues are acted upon. Care staff-there does appear to be a staff shortage at times and I get the impression of a high turnover of
care staff.

My husband was cared for in Ashford House Care Home for six months, from September 15th to March 12th. He was so well looked after, everyone was so kind. He was treated with such devotion and dignity. He came to call Ashford House home. Ashford House became a second home for our dog and me too!

My mother has been a resident ar Barchester Ashford House Care Home for almost five years. During that time, the care she has enjoyed has been excellent - welfare and medical and the staff and carers have made her feel so welcome and included.
The carers are so patient with her and take very good care
of her even when she is being uncooperative. The home is kept clean and safe and the meals are varied and nutritious. I am very grateful for the support Ashford House Care Home give the residents and their families (especially during Covid lockdowns) and highly recommend the care home for anyone experiencing the devastating impact of dementia.

My mother has been a resident at the home for a number of years, she entered with dementia and other medical conditions, the care she has received has been excellent, the staff are all helpful and friendly, and the home is well looked after and maintained. With an excellent entertainment programme.
The food option is very good. It has given our family peace of mind she is being so well looked after.

All the staff are so helpful, friendly and caring and Ashford House Care Home has such a lovely atmosphere. It's always lovely to visit Ashford House Care Home. I am always greeted so warmly by the staff. I am so impressed with the first-class care provided for the residents. The residents are always happy when I am here. Ashford house always provides a range of activities for the residents which I think

The care of my nan is top-notch. She is always well cared for and loved and fussed over by the wonderful staff, she is always kept nice and clean, staff are always welcoming to us and very approachable and informative. The cleanliness of the home is amazing, when you walk in it is always fresh smelling,
never smells of old people's home, cleaning staff are always seen working as I imagine the cleaning never stops, amazing how they manage to keep it so clean. Hats off to the wonderful head housekeeper and her team and, as always, the head of unit nurse is amazing, we trust her 101% with Nan and, of course, another member of staff is always a breath of fresh air when she is on. Thank you all for the great care you give my nan.

When I came to visit Dad, he was in the day room listening to the singer. Everyone, including Dad, was singing along; some were even dancing. It was so lovely to see. Some of the other people were telling of their experiences, which were very funny and entertaining.

Bringing mum to Ashford House from another care home was like a breath of fresh air. The home is extremely well managed and every single member of staff is very pleasant, attentive, efficient and available as needed. All the carers are genuinely caring and the activities reputation is well deserved.
Food is plentiful, varied and attractive with
3 three-course meals per day with additional sandwiches later in the evening for any residents who need food then. The home is extremely clean and well decorated and smells fresh. In the few weeks that mum has been there, her mobility has improved and I'm now confident that mum is in a place where she is being looked after to the best of their ability.

We had to transfer dad to Ashford House at the height of the pandemic so it was not easy. The staff ensured we were kept up to date about everything so we were happy dad had settled in well. When were allowed to see him every effort was made to ensure our visits in the garden or Pod went smoothly. Dad
seemed happy and content and we were aware that some staff went the extra mile to ensure he was well looked after in a friendly and dignified way.

Communication skills from staff to relatives are poor, need improving. Unhappy with appearance when visiting as trousers (which did fit) are too short! Eye problem - no feedback.

I have been a nurse for many years and have continued to develop my skills in nursing people living with Dementia through the excellent development training that Barchester Healthcare has offered me. I am privileged to have this opportunity


Working in a dementia environment is a very rewarding career. I feel residents treat us as their own family as you can feel the genuine response from them, their trust, acceptance and the lovely smiles on their faces. It’s such a pleasure to care for them.


I am so proud of the elderly care Ashford House offer to people living with dementia at our nursing home and we like to help if we can.

Hello. My name is Cristina. I am the Clinical Deputy Manager here at Ashford House.


I qualified as a nurse in Romania. In 2000 I started working with Barchester and in 2003 progressed to the role of senior carer while waiting for my PIN number.


I continued as a nurse afterwards. I’m grateful for the experience that I have gained working with Barchester to improve my skills and the training that has been provided by the company.


There have been challenges in the past but we remain focused on residents wellbeing as well as the well-being of our team and ourselves.
