I am reviewing the whole period that my uncle was in Belvedere House. Mid 21 to July 22. I was very impressed with the professionalism and sensitive care of the staff. At all levels that I came across, from catering staff to senior nurses, from administrative managers to activities coordinators all
had the same caring and personalised approach to residents. Every time we visited my uncle was normally engaged in some interesting activity and I know (because I participated on occasion) that everyone’s abilities, limited or otherwise, were catered for. I was always delighted to see that my uncle and many other residents I recognised appeared on social media, for example, involved in a huge range of mentally engaging things to do. The food was good, my uncle reported, and lots of national days were celebrated with national dishes. It would be wonderful if all care homes could be as good.

My dad has been in Belvedere House since just before the pandemic started. He moved in 10 days before the first lockdown. It was hard not being able to visit but when I phoned to enquire I was always able to speak to someone who worked with him. My latest visit was in June (I live on the other side
of the country so my visits are not as frequent as I would like, fortunately, my brother lives closer and can visit much more often), as always I could not be happier with how my dad is cared for. He has severe short-term memory loss and is in his 90’s having to be moved about in a wheelchair. All the people I saw with him were kind and caring, asking how he was, was he ready for lunch etc. As I was there they were happy for him to have his lunch later than usual. I had a brilliant visit with my dad as it was one of his ‘good’ days and was able to hold a conversation. The staff are all helpful and knowledgeable about their clients. Just so glad there was a vacancy when we needed one.

I am so pleased I was able to become a resident Belvedere after four happy years as a tenant in Weston Acres. The transition went so smoothly, my new accommodation perfect, and the staff ever ready to help when needed.

My dad came into Belvedere House for 2 weeks of respite following a triple heart bypass. As my dad was deemed fit for discharge from the hospital I needed to get him into respite within 24 hours - the professionalism shown by both the clinical and non-clinical team was without fault. The Clinical Manager
put everything in place to have him admitted the next day. Once dad was in he spoke with the highest of praise for all the staff, from the Catering Manager who visited him straight away to ask about his likes and dislikes to the Housekeeping Manager who sorted his curtains when they didn't quite close properly and the Nurses and Care Assistants that looked after his every need. The room he was in was of a really high spec and knowing there was air conditioning during some of the hottest days ever recorded was a godsend. Knowing my dad was in Belvedere House gave me peace of mind and helped the family prepare him to return to his own home after a very difficult period.

My father came to Royal Alfred a few years back as a tenant and more recently moved to Belvedere House as his poor mobility and balance made him vulnerable. He has been very carefully and professionally looked after which is a great relief to my sister and myself. His new room is superb and he has been
able to keep connected to the world with his own technology. The food is abundant and he seems to have moved across successfully.

The kindness and care shown to my mother since she came into Belvedere House have been excellent. The staff have shown great patience as my mother and me adjust to being in a care home environment. The communal areas are lovely and bright. My mother is very happy with her room and loves sitting in the
gardens in the sunshine. She enjoys the interaction with fellow residents and staff.

My Mom has been a resident of Belvedere House since July 2020. She suffers from dementia and other issues which cause her to be in constant pain. The care that she receives is fantastic. All staff are so kind and caring and really go the extra mile to ensure that residents are as happy and as comfortable
as they can possibly be. And the food is amazing! The last 2 years have been so hard for everyone but the staff have been consistently positive and cheerful. Above all, they are some of the kindest people that I have ever met and I am so grateful that my Mom is there, getting the best care possible. I have (and still do) find my mother's deterioration difficult to cope with and they have all been incredibly kind to me too. Renovation work is taking place at the moment to make the home even better but the disruption is kept to a minimum and residents are still able to enjoy the beautiful gardens. If your loved one has to go into care you won't find a better place....it is fabulous!

My Mother has been well cared for during her time at Belvedere House. The rooms are kept very clean and are warm In the winter and during the hot months there is plenty of ventilation and all guests have an electric fan. The food is first class. My mother has to have a different diced menu due to her
swallowing and I think she gets a little agitated she would love to enjoy more solid foods that she sees served up to fellow residents. I would like to see more entertainment now that the pandemic has eased. Singers are a welcome treat for the residents and I gather more entertainment will be on the agenda in the coming weeks. It is with great joy that the resident's bar has now reopened and I have had the pleasure of meeting the new member of the bar staff who is very professional and will be a great asset to the team. With the warmer weather approaching it would be great for the residents to enjoy the open space once again and have walks around the lovely grounds.

My father has received the best of care in both his personal care and his medical care. Rooms are kept clean and safe and there is a strong commitment to keeping the residents occupied and stimulated. The staff are friendly and there is a happy atmosphere in Belvedere House. The grounds are superb and
relatives and friends can take the residents outside to enjoy them. My father still has a good appetite, so enjoys the variety of food that the caterers provide. He has been at Belvedere House for a year now and has settled in well. I thank all staff at Belvedere House, as it’s comforting for the family to know that he is being so well looked after. My mum has been in residential care at this home for the past 2.5 years. From the outset, the staff have gone above and beyond the call of duty to make sure she feels at home here in all aspects. From the cleaners to the nursing staff, the front of the house, the kitchens - the service is outstanding.
Care is tailored to her individual needs and all staff are happy and welcoming. The food is 5 star both in appearance and quality. I could not be happier with the level of service provided.

My father, who had Dementia, was a resident at Belvedere House for just over a year. He had a very nice room, with its own toilet, which overlooked the garden. The home is run on high standards, is clean, does not smell and is relatively modern. The surrounding grounds contain formal gardens and a large
area which consists of a wild-flower meadow and two large ponds. My father loved to walk around the pond and look at the wildflowers and insects. There are also three enclosed courtyard gardens where residents can sit and enjoy the sunshine. Dogs are welcome so I used to take mine to see him and he would play ball with her in the garden.
The staff are very caring and look after their residents very well. They are happy to talk with you about any issues and deal with any concerns you may have. There is a variety of activities for the resident to participate in if they wish to do so, which range from music therapy, arts and crafts, games and manicures for the ladies.

Ever since walking into The Royal Alfred on my first visit, I have received nothing less than perfection in every manner. The staff, in every form, are simply wonderful, caring, understanding, personal and will do absolutely anything for you. It truly feels like one big family and my mother has settled
incredibly fast and is so very happy.
The entertainment is superb with something on at least once every day and the staff are fantastic at getting the residents to join in. The food is simply delicious and the cooks work so terribly hard. Everyone is treated with such dignity and I could never imagine finding a place so perfect in every way for my mother.

My mother has only been at Belvedere House for less than a month and I have to say that I have found all the staff outstanding!
The level of care is very thorough, highly professional and totally amazing. I have appreciated the warm welcome my mother has received.
There are so many activities throughout
the week as well as a peaceful seating area next to a beautiful pond with little waterfalls!

The staff here are amazing. They possess a natural, genuine ability to care for all, both residents and their families, as lots of reassurance was given when our mother/grandmother moved in. The rooms are comfortable and the communal areas of the lounges, dining rooms and bar are all kept immaculate.


The activities are well thought out and planned and their designated activities team take so much time to ensure that the residents' minds are kept active and the entertainment that is provided by the professional performers is great fun and all the residents seem to enjoy themselves.


There is also the option of having a lunch with your relative on site and the menu is seasonal and changes weekly at the very reasonable sum of £4.50. The grounds are beautiful and the outdoor space is used for Summer and BBQs.
We have seen such improvement in her mental and physical health and haven't seen her this happy in years. We can't recommend this place enough.

I have found Belvedere House to be clean, happy, and very welcoming every time I have visited. You enter via a large lounge used for entertainments, activities and where guests can entertain their visitors. The administration staff are on hand, and the manager is always available. There is a small bar
run for the residents, which is a social hub for those who are active. The grounds are immaculate, there are adequate seats at various vantage points and the new lake and wildlife area are an added bonus. My praise for all the staff - maintenance, grounds persons, cleaners, cooks, laundry staff and administration is unending. The home is a very happy and caring establishment.
The care shown to my friend was exceptional, the caring and nursing staff without fault encouraged and cajoled her at all times, always patient, always caring, always on hand when called. Without a doubt, this has proved to be one of the best homes I have ever visited.

I have been fortunate enough to visit Belvedere House many times over the last year visiting a very dear friend who lives there to take her out for lunch and to visit a local supermarket.
I must say that my friend has been extremely well looked after. Every staff member from housekeeping right through
to the nurses are always welcoming and cheerful. The nursing home is always spotless and cosy and the rooms are well equipped and modern and light with en-suite facilities. My friend is always beautifully turned out and has her washing returned the same day that it is sent to the laundry. On occasions, when she has been unwell she is accompanied to hospital with a carer who stays with her throughout.
I can’t fault it at all and bless each and every one of you for looking after my friend as if she was one of your own.

Alice Mitroi

Job Title: Registered Home Manager

Joined: 2017

Alice Mitroi is the Registered Home Manager, having joined as a staff nurse in 2017.


She graduated from the University of Bucharest in 2015 with a Master’s degree in Health and Social Care to accompany her baccalaureate in General Nursing. She has worked in the care industry since the age of 19 and has worked her way up to hold a managerial position.


Alongside these qualifications, she has a diploma in dementia care and brings this experience and knowledge to the care of residents in the dedicated dementia wing.
