Dear Karen,
I’m sorry you have chosen to make such comments by way of a review platform rather than attempting to discuss with the management of the home first. I’m sure if you had done that, you would form a very different view of your father’s care and the staff providing it.
Bearing in mind you have not previously visited in the 10 months since your father’s admission to Cedar Lodge, it is hard to see how you can make an informed judgement as to his current or previous condition, particularly given that he was originally admitted as needing palliative care.
Cedar Lodge has not just “popped up”, it has been providing care for over 34 years. You are right in that we do continually improve the surroundings and facilities in the home but that is absolutely not at the expense of care and is entirely to benefit our residents by making sure they always have the best possible environment to live in. We make equal investment in our staff and well over half of the entire staff have worked at the home for at least 5 years, with many of them having worked there for 10, 15 and up to 30 years. They are extremely loyal, hardworking, dedicated and caring, wherever you believe they may be from.
I think it would be worth you discussing your concerns with the manager of the home so you can gain a proper understanding of both your father’s condition and the care being provided. Please get in touch as soon as possible should you wish to do so.

She began working at Forest Care as a Nurse and then progressing to Clinical Lead, Head of Care, Deputy Manager and now Registered Care Home Manager of Cedar Lodge.
Nenita’s hard-working nature and open-door policy gains respect from her staff, gives relatives peace of mind and enhances the lives of residents. She naturally leads her team by example in offering exemplary person-centred care to her service users, which her workforce reflects. in 2019, Nenita was selected as winner of the Frontline Leader of the Year at the Surrey Care Awards.

Florisa graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and has built up 17 years of experience working in the UK as a nurse in a variety of medical settings. Florisa has now been working at Cedar Lodge for 10 years and is our compassionate and dedicated Head of Care.
With an extensive background in nursing, Florisa is responsible for managing the clinical care of the residents in the home. This involves supervising the Nurses, Senior Carers and Carers to ensure residents receive person-centred care in accordance with their assessed needs and plans of care, along with focusing on their mental, physical and emotional well-being.
Job Title: Home Administrator

Jayne started working with us at Cedar Lodge in 2014 and has quickly become part of the team and is equally committed to ensuring each and every resident is happy and well looked after. Jayne is a passionate member of the team who is proud to work at Cedar Lodge.
As Administrator, Jayne is responsible for the day-to-day administrative functioning of the home and supporting Nenita to ensure everything happens as it should. This involves a variety of tasks such as employment checks, enquiry handling, show rounds and admissions, to being a point of contact for residents and relatives while dealing with their day-to-day requests.

Bhanu has been working as a professional Chef for over 10 years.
For 3 years, Bhanu has worked at Cedar Lodge as our talented and passionate Head Chef. He works hard to develop a menu that is appealing to residents while focusing on their nutritional and dietary needs.
Bhanu brings his strong creative flair to work every day, presenting his food in artistic ways and making sure there is a strong colour balance on the plate. Cooking with seasonal fresh foods is important to Bhanu, who is passionate about caring for our residents through his meals.
Job Title: Maintenance Manager

David is our Handyman who works very hard fixing things and making sure our home runs smoothly. This involves ensuring that any maintenance/repair works are carried out promptly and efficiently with minimum disturbance.
David is a wonderful support to the home and will often participate in special activities.

Wendy and Yumi are our award-winning activities team. They excellently nurture residents’ social and mental well-being, alongside their physical care within the Activities they provide.
The activities team uses care plans and consider residents’ histories and hobbies to plan respectful activities that enhance lives, encourage socialisation and stimulate memories. This is an important part of our person-centred care.
