My mum has been at Barchester Corrina Lodge for five years. We've been very happy with the staff and her care, and are extremely grateful for everything they do.
Corrina Lodge are very understanding, approachable and have been amazing during these challenging times with Covid and lockdowns. We can't
thank them and praise them enough.

This is a home that is charging over £8000 per month and when this home was selected claimed that they were proud of their food and the care they provide. The food is worse than a schoolchild would be expected to eat (for example today's supper was baked beans on toast). The rooms are small, like a
student room and the care is underwhelming though there are some notable exceptions. I have had to contact the home to request they wash my relative's hair as they asked me to bring shampoo. They also claimed to offer physio as part of the contract but used the virus as cover to drop it and provide shocking levels of care (leaving in bed until late morning, not putting to bed until late at night etc) and when I challenge this the management has arrogantly ignored my concerns and continue business as usual. The real issue is extremely poor management and a grasping business model when they see residents as revenue streams only. I am still waiting for a response to a complaint I made in January.

My nan lived at Corrina Lodge for just under a year. I was always warmly welcomed by the staff and highly impressed by the cleanliness of the facilities. The vast majority of staff were highly professional and skilled. A few need to ensure professionalism at all times, including corridors. Overall I

My mother lived in the home for about ten months before she sadly passed away. During her stay, she received excellent care and attention. The whole management, activity and clinical team have been wonderful and always cheerful even through these pandemic times. I have no hesitation in recommending

My wife was at Corrina for nearly three years, and during this time we found the care to be excellent and the staff without exception to be kind, friendly and helpful. However, sadly at the end of July 2020, we were told that her needs had increased to the point where we should move her to some other
home that had a dementia unit. This we managed to do on 27th August 2020. One of the consequences of this move was that a four-figure refund was due to me. The paperwork for this was completed promptly and efficiently at Corrina but needed some sort of higher approval. Now, 56 days (8 weeks) after my wife's departure, this refund has still not been paid and I have not been contacted in any way. Why not, and what is going on at the administrative level?

I wanted to put in writing our grateful thanks for the care given to my mother-in-law during her three months stay at Corrina Lodge. She was very unwell when she was discharged from hospital. We were not happy with the level of care and support she was given there. Accordingly, it was a great relief
to us to see the extent to which she improved once she came under the care of your nurses. What particularly impressed us was the extent to which your nurses and assistants took the trouble to talk to her in advance and explain to her what they were going to have to do with and for her before setting about their nursing tasks.
The most important factor in her treatment at Corrina Lodge was the interest shown by a particular carer, in getting to know what type of person she was and what she had experienced during the course of her long and very different life. The result was that my mother-in-law became much more settled and accepting of the finality of her life. So would you please pass on our heartfelt thanks to all those members of staff who were involved in her care.

This is a time that no one knows what is going to happen but I do know that my husband and all of the Residents in this nursing home are being looked after because they have the most professional staff ever. Their dedication, care and love for the Residents also for each other and the families is amazing.
The activity team work continuously to entertain and they try so hard to keep everyone safe and happy. They go way beyond to make sure they have a good time. The nursing and care staff are unbelievable, their work is never ending but you never hear how tired they must feel. All of the staff work so efficiently to keep the home going, I cannot thank them all for keeping our loved ones safe. Continued health and care to them all.

Respite care with nursing for my mother was excellent and communication with myself faultless. Empathic, caring staff. Corrina Lodge is small enough to make the home seem like family and large enough to provide the professional care to a high standard that was required for my Mum. At some future point,
if required, Mum and I will happily choose Carrina Lodge again for respite care or permanent care.

My husband died unexpectedly in August 2019 in Corrina Lodge, having lived there for 6 1/2 years since January 2013. He was cared for extremely well and members of staff became like a family to him and to me as his wife. He was encouraged to find his own 'niche' there, caring for the garden and greenhouse.
He enjoyed most of the activities and certainly enjoyed mealtimes! He was supported in continuing his hobby budgie keeping and had three cages in his room. Overall he became content in his home at Corrina Lodge.

We would like to say how amazing Corrina Lodge staff have been towards my father-in-law. He has been a resident for 15 months and prior to admission was given days to live. He has been given fantastic care and without exception, all the staff in the nursing home have contributed to his well being. He
has Parkinson's disease and the most important part of his treatment is receiving his medication as prescribed on time. We joke now how we can set our watches by him receiving his medication and what a huge difference this has made to his condition. He has physically improved due to wonderful diet, all be it has to be liquidised and mentally stimulated by the team. Last week he was in the day room singing along to a ukelele band who came in to sing Christmas carols with the residents. We had not seen him this animated in years.
I wish all nursing homes offered this level of care.
Thank you to the manager, you have been instrumental in the management and care of all the residents.

Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff to make my friend comfortable. She is very well looked after. There is a happy and relaxed atmosphere and all the staff are accessible and willing to discuss and resolve any concerns or queries. The manager is always willing to listen and help and so

Caring is the first word I use to describe Corrina Lodge. I am deeply impressed by the warmth and dedication of the whole staff team: nursing and care, leadership, activities, administration, cooking, household and maintenance. The residents clearly valued the engaging activities (from films to bingo),

My name is Marie. I am the Home Manager at Corrina Lodge. I look forward to welcoming you into our beautiful home.


I am an experienced, supportive, caring, and efficient leader with over 20 years of experience in the Health and Social Care sector and over 10 years in a management position.


I have worked in various Leadership and Management positions within the healthcare sector with extensive experience working in partnership with external stakeholders and managing large teams.


I have love and passion for leading a team and being supportive of my colleagues as well as the residents and their families. I have worked with several client groups and their needs include people with Complex Physical and Emotional needs, Mental Health needs, and Behaviours that challenge Epilepsy and Dementia. The skills and competence obtained from studying for a Master’s Degree (MSc) in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care have enabled me to successfully plan, lead and implement change within a healthcare setting. I have a strong work ethic and I am proud to work in the care sector which has been recognised by NHS England and CQC who complimented me on my leadership style, determination, and commitment to implement change working as one team. I always put people first show kindness and still have the energy to love life and make it meaningful for myself and those in my care.


In my spare time, I train to run half marathons and raise money for local charities. I have a keen interest in current Care Standards, legislation and Innovation which includes– Person-centred Assessment and Care Planning, staff and carers training and Positive Behavioural Support (PBS), and designing and implementing Best Practice Guidelines for Older People and People who live with Dementia.

I graduated with a Bachelor Science in Nursing in the Philippines.
I came to UK on 2004 as a student and get my adaptation as RGN in UK.
Then I worked as RGN and then stepped up as Deputy within 3 yrs. Then I worked as Home Manager for 12 years. I support our Clinical Team to provide clinical guidance and knowledge to ensure excellent safe and excellent care.

My name is Jo and I am the home administrator here at Corrina Lodge Care Home.


My role involves supporting the General Manager by managing all the financial aspects within the home, HR, preparing contracts and general admin for the home. No two days are ever the same! It’s a very busy role, but one that I thoroughly enjoy. Each day is different.


My Accounting career spans over 30 years. Before joining Corrina Lodge I took a career break, to look after my Father. Whilst caring for my dad, I had to liaise closely with Rapid Repones teams /Social Workers and Local Authority to provide the care my dad needed at home, I was totally in awe of the level of care, support and dedication the home carers were providing to my dad as well my family.


When the time came to return back to work I knew 100% that I wanted to be in the care industry.


Michelle

Michelle Llaguno RGN

Job Title: Head of Department

Michelle Llaguno RGN is our Head of Unit, she served for many years as our trainer, operational lead and Care Practitioner. She has been and still is an amazing role model for our younger staff of how far you can come at Corrina Lodge.
Michelle is an exceptional Nurse and a fantastic leader. She also writes all the care rotas for all the staff every week.


Sharon

Sharon Rickman

Job Title: Head of Activities

Joined: 1997

Sharon has been at Corrina Lodge since July 1997 and is our longest serving staff member. She has been Head of Activity's twice and only relinquishing the role when she was raising her lovely children.
Sharon leads a very strong team of three coordinators supported by Gina and Alina. Sharon also now has quite a collection of volunteers and work experience students. Activities are huge at Corrina Lodge and Sharon thinks big and always follows through, we like to think that we give everything a try and the activity's that Sharon's team provide are incredibly well attended at Corrina Lodge.

Mark

Job Title: Residents Chairman

Joined: 2018

Hello, I’m Mark and I have been elected as Chairman of our Residents' Committee. The committee meets every two months and we make lifestyle choices for the home.


I’ve lived at Corrina Lodge since 2017, and I have had so much support with activities that it has engaged my interest in all sorts of ways. My interest in art has resurfaced and I now pursue this hobby actively. I also really enjoy taking photos around the home using my iPad, which get uploaded on to our TV in the reception area and are a great talking point for visitors.


As a spokesperson for our community, I enjoy helping others, welcoming visitors and getting involved with all aspects of life here at the home. I come from a very large family; I am one of nine siblings. My family and friends visit often and have recognised that living at Corrina Lodge has greatly enhanced my life.

Job Title: Care Practitioner

Hi, my name is Sherry and I have worked at Corrina for over 11 years. I started working as a carer, then progressed to senior carer and then ground floor team leader. I have recently achieved my qualification as a care pratitioner. I am really enjoying the challrnge and resposibility of my new role.
I am proud to be part of a brilliant team and personally pride myself on managing my floor, supporting residents in a person centred enviroment and ensuring the well being and happiness of those we support. I have also built up excellent relationships with residents family and friends.


Kathleen

Kathleen Foster

Job Title: Head Chef

Joined: 2021

My name is Kathleen and I have worked in the care sector all of my working life. I beleive I have a good understanding of our residents needs and always do my upmost to accomodate them.
I love to make home cooked dishes from scratch and always promote a nutritional diet. I enjoy cooking traditional dishes that residents can relate to and look as good as they taste.
On the naughty but nice side I pride myself on baking some delicious cakes and biscuits for residents to enjoy.
Nothing is too much trouble and I will always do my best to create a wondeful dining experience for the Corrina Community.
