St George’s is a purpose-built dementia care home. The home is dedicated to caring for adults living with dementia, from early onset to more complex end-of-life needs, the home provides all types of dementia care including nursing, residential, Parkinson’s and short-stay care.

The home has its own dementia champions who work to improve the quality of life for residents through daily activities and opportunities for reminiscence and stimulation. Furthermore, everything at St George’s is on one floor, making it easier for residents to find their way around. The home’s interior has been decorated to suit individuals with dementia, being colour-themed and including memory triggers.

The home has a home for home atmosphere, pleasant communal areas, and a secure well-maintained courtyard garden, it provides a relaxing living environment. The home also benefits from its on-site pub, hairdressers and tea hut for all to enjoy.

All bedrooms have en-suite facilities, the majority lead out to the garden or courtyard area and all come with a 24-hour call system.

Enjoying food is an important part of life. The chefs create well-crafted menus made with the freshest ingredients. Soon after a resident arrives at St George’s, staff discuss their personal preferences and dietary needs with them.

There’s a real sense of community at the home. The staff work to discover what residents enjoy doing and the home's social calendar is organised around those interests. My husband was very well cared for over a period of 20 months. Activities are well provided and of particular help is the friendliness and welcome made to relatives visiting at any time.

St George's is a lovely home. All the staff are very caring and very nice. The activities at the home are excellent. The activity staff are brilliant, they are always coming up with different ideas for the residents to do.

St Georges care home is a wonderful place to stay for people with mental problems, my husband had Alzheimer's and stayed 9-10-17 to 22-02-18 when he passed away. The staff are very caring to all making sure the relatives are happy with the care for their loved ones. I would like to thank them for looking
after my husband and keeping him safe along with keeping his morale up along with mine. The home has a wonderful welcoming feeling and nothing is too much trouble for them.

My father has been a resident for 18 months. His overall care is good. The staff are caring and considerate with a few individuals providing excellent care. Staff at times are overstretched especially at weekends. The management team are extremely approachable. There is room for improvement in the general
decoration and cleanliness. More varied activities are required.

My mother has been a resident at St George's care home for seven and a half years, every time I visit, which is weekly, I always find the home a clean and welcoming place. The staff are always courteous and efficient and they all know how to look after each resident and their various needs depending
on their individual levels of care required. My mum is always neatly presented even though she can't do much for herself. The food is of a very high standard and there is a wide range of activities provided by the home (ie singing, animal petting).

My Aunt moved into St George's Nursing Home on 30th January 2015 after a spell in hospital and a need for a higher level of care than previously.
During her time at St George's Nursing Home, the staff have looked after her very well and treated her with dignity and humour.
St George's Nursing Home
has a very bright and cheerful atmosphere and has daily activities/entertainments for the residents to attend if they wish.
I have always found the staff very helpful and they assist my Aunt at mealtimes as necessary. They also keep me up to date with any
problems or clothing requirements and details of doctors visits.
As my Aunt's dementia and mobility has gradually deteriorated they have increased the care they provide.


My Aunt is very comfortable there and I have no hesitation in recommending St George's Nursing Home.

Dad has been well cared for since his arrival.
His personal hygiene is dealt with well and requests to assist him (changing etc) are responded to promptly.
In May 2017 Dad developed blisters (pressure sores) on his heels.
A TVN (Tissue Viability Nurse) should have been called sooner (fax sent).
An email/phone call would have been a lot quicker.
That said, the wounds have now healed (blisters burst and became infected).
Dad is well in himself and very happy with the care he receives.

My mother was a resident at St George's for several years until her death on Christmas day 2016. I have nothing but praise for this excellent care home. The staff are outstanding, so very gentle and caring and the manner in which they deal with the residents is simply excellent. My mother was in
a spacious room, with a well-equipped bathroom and very well maintained by the excellent cleaning staff. The home is very well maintained having undergone a recent refurbishment. Activities are provided daily to stimulate the residents and trips out are arranged for the more able. The food is excellent and served openly in the restaurant. I could not fault St George's and thanks to all the staff for the loving care they gave my mother.

My mother was a resident from April 2006 until she died in February 2016. The care home employs plenty of state registered nurses, my mother was cleaned every day, fresh clothes everyday, plenty of stimulation via activities or common lounge areas. Regular renovation to the care house, with input from
residents parents/carers. Dignity is always evident with staff being well trained and dedicated. There have been plenty of investment and improvement over the years such as digital TV's, Wifi and more equipment and changes of layouts. There is plenty of communication with access to a residents representative committee. Much better than the rest.

My husband came to St George's in April 2015. He had early onset Alzheimer's and his behaviour was extremely challenging as he was still so young and strong and didn't understand what was going on. I cannot stress how wonderful ALL the staff have been through some very difficult times. The nursing,
care, reception, housekeeping, cleaning and maintenance staff all made us welcome and my husband was cared for with such professionalism and loving concern. Sadly, he passed away in January and everyone was so kind and supportive especially when we wanted to be with him at the end and we were there all the time. They not only cared for him, ensuring his comfort and dignity, feeding and giving him personal care, they looked after our emotional needs. I cannot speak highly enough of all at St George's and my children and I could never thank them enough.

I have previously worked as a journalist in local newspapers. I used to write a music column called Sound Scene whereby I interviewed new up-and-coming bands in the local area. My other jobs include working as a nursery assistant for local childcare providers and I was also a civil servant, working for the Inland Revenue.


I love my job - it is varied and each day is vastly contrasting. I work with a very effective team who all bring different qualities and strengths to the department. Ultimately as a team, we all work together to enrich the resident’s lives which is of course our central goal.
